Version 102 - WoD Quests and the new Community Editor!

  • Fixed an issue where map icons were not being removed properly, leading to duplication.

Version 101 - WoD Quests and the new Community Editor!

Over the past few months I have been preparing for WoD, and have also been working hard on a new out-of-game Community Editor tool so that its much easier for everyone to have their input into the QC database, and together make it as accurate as possible.

IMPORTANT NOTE: At first my primary goal is to ensure there are full and accurate quest listings per zone for WoD, map pins, etc will come after (And support for map pins will be added to the Community Editor).

  • Hopefully most quests are now in the database.
  • There are ALOT of behind the scenes changes, so if I have broken something please let me know.
  • Not all faction\race\class flags are going to be perfect at this stage, so you may want to adjust filters as needed.

Community Editor Live!

I have hosted my QC database online, and written some software which allows me to generate the Lua code for the addon directly from this central data. This software enables anyone to view the database outside of the game, and also allows the community to contribute corrections if they spot any on their travels (Viewing is available to everyone, you need to contact me for sign on details if you want to save changes). This is obviously completely optional, but your changes are audited then saved directly back to the live database, and will be included in the next iteration of the add-on automatically!

The software can be accessed as a Microsoft ClickOnce application: Here

Still plenty of work to do (Support for map pins, etc on the way), but here is a peek of what the basic quest editor looks like:

Community Editor

Features

  • Lists all quests for each zone.
  • Provides at-a-glance quest feedback, which other similar quest trackers do not. For example a yellow "!" for uncompleted quests, a blue "!" or "?" for Daily and Repeatable quests and so on. This helps prevent confusion, as blizzard never concider Repeatables or Dailys "completed". It also flags special quests as orange, for example the collectors edition quests, or quests which can no longer be done.
  • Automatically switches zones as you travel around the world.
  • Allows you to view or hide quests for the opposing force, or for other classes.
  • Quest tooltips when hovering over them on the QC list.
  • Quest icons will appear on the world map for quest you have not yet completed.
  • Functionality to display what quests are "In Progress" when browsing the quest lists. If a quest is in progress (i.e In your quest log), then you will see either a grey "?" or a yellow "?", reflecting if the quest is "in progress but not complete" or "in progress and ready to hand in".
  • Supports server query.

Any feedback would be great.

I noticed this in Lost Isle, Doc Whatchamajiggit..  It was an auto complete quest that completed as soon as you accepted it.  (just after the yaght explodes and you get revived on the raft).  Maybe that is what the Nil is?

In Interface options; settings does not work. It still shows guests i done before on my map..

    Try a server query:

    Categories > Settings

I am trying for LOREMASTER and need to know which quests sre done and which I need to do. I am in Northrend right and ahve run out of qhuest givers for my last two areas the STorm Peaks and Icecrown.

LOL    It is sad but obviously some people just need a dope slap to encourage them to  see the  BOLD RED TYPE.

I have done some looking over the lists in several zones  but it is difficult to know if anything is missing.  I hope that server query by us will reveal to you any completed quests which have not made your lists.   I have done every quest  that I was able to find in Draenor up to but not including Nagrand. I will run server query on  several toons  and I will repeat when I have been through Nagrand.

BTW Don't get discouraged by people who are blind to red. QC is still one one of my favorite add-ons. I will try the  new software.  I was never able to  find the cgi scripting page to enter reports in the past. I was never  able to find the QC page on curseforge.com.   Hopefully the software will make it possible for me to contribute some of the  information ( I had pages of notes in my QC notebook) which I was never able to contribute in the past.

Thanks, I know there are some people waiting for usernames and passwords for the Community Editor, but I am in France on Holiday at the moment so will not get them created until I return.

Thanks for this add on. It helped me achieve Nagarand Slam which is really pain to get for first time. However i have one question. The map still shows all quest icons i have completed. I am currently questing in OUTLANDS. I used the configuration for QC to remove the icons but it doesn't seem to have any effect.

Other than that this add on is perfect.

I've been working on picking up quests on my main that I missed in Pandaria when I quit two years ago. Things were going smoothly until I got up to the point where I needed to start doing dungeon quests. When I click on Categories and go to the Dungeons & Raids section, there is no arrow to expand Mists of Pandaria (or Warlords of Draenor) and when I click on either one it just stays on whatever zone I already had open.I know that the quests are actually somewhere in the database, because when I searched by name for some specific ones using the search box, I was able to find them. I had a guildmate confirm the same issue (so it's not something weird on my end). I have the latest version according to Curse (v102, though the actual addon still says v101 in the game, but I assume that's simply an oversight). Is there a fix in the works for this? Thanks! I attempted to include a screenshot but for some reason it just showed up as a broken image.

@ViduusEU Sorry but a 90 char does not see any icons on the map in wod. This is a bug. Y have check this with any chars and y have the same problem. Y have disabled all addons except qc!

  • #1062

I still don't think you have read the bold red text in the addon description. It isn't a bug.

  • #1065

So, your primary goal is reached, you have a good complet list of quest, but in how much time we have the icons in our world map?, sorry for this question, thanks for all... good work really :)

  • #1060

For almost all of the previous comments, I can't bring myself to reply to them all. Either do a server query, or read the bold red text in the addon description. *Deep breath*
