Version 102 - WoD Quests and the new Community Editor!

  • Fixed an issue where map icons were not being removed properly, leading to duplication.

Version 101 - WoD Quests and the new Community Editor!

Over the past few months I have been preparing for WoD, and have also been working hard on a new out-of-game Community Editor tool so that its much easier for everyone to have their input into the QC database, and together make it as accurate as possible.

IMPORTANT NOTE: At first my primary goal is to ensure there are full and accurate quest listings per zone for WoD, map pins, etc will come after (And support for map pins will be added to the Community Editor).

  • Hopefully most quests are now in the database.
  • There are ALOT of behind the scenes changes, so if I have broken something please let me know.
  • Not all faction\race\class flags are going to be perfect at this stage, so you may want to adjust filters as needed.

Community Editor Live!

I have hosted my QC database online, and written some software which allows me to generate the Lua code for the addon directly from this central data. This software enables anyone to view the database outside of the game, and also allows the community to contribute corrections if they spot any on their travels (Viewing is available to everyone, you need to contact me for sign on details if you want to save changes). This is obviously completely optional, but your changes are audited then saved directly back to the live database, and will be included in the next iteration of the add-on automatically!

The software can be accessed as a Microsoft ClickOnce application: Here

Still plenty of work to do (Support for map pins, etc on the way), but here is a peek of what the basic quest editor looks like:

Community Editor

Features

  • Lists all quests for each zone.
  • Provides at-a-glance quest feedback, which other similar quest trackers do not. For example a yellow "!" for uncompleted quests, a blue "!" or "?" for Daily and Repeatable quests and so on. This helps prevent confusion, as blizzard never concider Repeatables or Dailys "completed". It also flags special quests as orange, for example the collectors edition quests, or quests which can no longer be done.
  • Automatically switches zones as you travel around the world.
  • Allows you to view or hide quests for the opposing force, or for other classes.
  • Quest tooltips when hovering over them on the QC list.
  • Quest icons will appear on the world map for quest you have not yet completed.
  • Functionality to display what quests are "In Progress" when browsing the quest lists. If a quest is in progress (i.e In your quest log), then you will see either a grey "?" or a yellow "?", reflecting if the quest is "in progress but not complete" or "in progress and ready to hand in".
  • Supports server query.

Any feedback would be great.

I've been wanting to do Loremaster for a while so when I found this addon I figured it would allow me to complete it very easily. I just tested it out in Elwynn Forest, a zone I KNOW I have completed most of the quests. However, not only does it list every quest in the zone, it lists each quest 6 times. I have "Hide completed quests" checked and I have tried scanning multiple times.

It is hiding some of my completed quests, but in the actual Northshire Abby starting zone I have completed all of those quests and it is listing those ones 6 times and saying I don't have them completed.
  • #222
This is because there are different quests in the starting area depending on your class. However, once you have completed your own version of it, when you run a server query it will colour them all as green.

This is because when you complete one version, blizzard marks all the others as completed at their side, so the new query then informs the add-on of this.

There may be a small bug with 0.85 when performing the query, but i am releasing a new version tonight to correct this. In 0.86 you can also now manually set quests as completed.

    Alright thanks

Hello. I have a little problem, I can't find any quests left in Twilight Highlands, so I thought this addon could help me, but when I installed it, it shows that I got 150 quests left in the zone, but my achievement says I've done 103 quests, so there's no way I got 150 quests left?
  • #218
Click the Zones menu, and at the bottom click Perform Query Server. That should sort out the ones you have completed from the ones you haven't.
  • #215
For those of you being annoyed by the constant print spam on zone change, simply open up qcLogger.lua and add "--" before the "print(QCADDON_CHAT_TITLE .. " on line 25.

This is a great add-on, very helpful for finding quests I have missed, thanks!!I only have a small complaint, there is a quest that I know has been completed, yet, the add-on reports it as not been done, it's not a daily or repeatable quest. Is there a way to force the add-on to count a quest as complete?
  • #214
There is a feature coming soon that will allow you to ignore quests, which means you can flag those ones you can never do anymore.

What was the quest you were having trouble with? That way i can have a look into it.

    Cheers

The name of the specific quest is called "Find Sage Mistwalker" in Howling Fjord.

    --Thanks
  • #219
    Hey,

Although "Find Sage Mistwalker" is the first step in a chain, it is optional, and if you found him randomly yourself first, and completed "The Artifacts of Steel Gate" then that first quest can never be completed again.

Could you please change print event from PLAYER_ENTERING_WORLD to ADDON_LOADED? Thanks alot. :D
  • #211
    +1

Spammed every time I zone is worse than every time I get/complete a quest.
  • #212
I uninstalled this mod because of it.
