Version 102 - WoD Quests and the new Community Editor!

  • Fixed an issue where map icons were not being removed properly, leading to duplication.

Version 101 - WoD Quests and the new Community Editor!

Over the past few months I have been preparing for WoD, and have also been working hard on a new out-of-game Community Editor tool so that its much easier for everyone to have their input into the QC database, and together make it as accurate as possible.

IMPORTANT NOTE: At first my primary goal is to ensure there are full and accurate quest listings per zone for WoD, map pins, etc will come after (And support for map pins will be added to the Community Editor).

  • Hopefully most quests are now in the database.
  • There are ALOT of behind the scenes changes, so if I have broken something please let me know.
  • Not all faction\race\class flags are going to be perfect at this stage, so you may want to adjust filters as needed.

Community Editor Live!

I have hosted my QC database online, and written some software which allows me to generate the Lua code for the addon directly from this central data. This software enables anyone to view the database outside of the game, and also allows the community to contribute corrections if they spot any on their travels (Viewing is available to everyone, you need to contact me for sign on details if you want to save changes). This is obviously completely optional, but your changes are audited then saved directly back to the live database, and will be included in the next iteration of the add-on automatically!

The software can be accessed as a Microsoft ClickOnce application: Here

Still plenty of work to do (Support for map pins, etc on the way), but here is a peek of what the basic quest editor looks like:

Community Editor

Features

  • Lists all quests for each zone.
  • Provides at-a-glance quest feedback, which other similar quest trackers do not. For example a yellow "!" for uncompleted quests, a blue "!" or "?" for Daily and Repeatable quests and so on. This helps prevent confusion, as blizzard never concider Repeatables or Dailys "completed". It also flags special quests as orange, for example the collectors edition quests, or quests which can no longer be done.
  • Automatically switches zones as you travel around the world.
  • Allows you to view or hide quests for the opposing force, or for other classes.
  • Quest tooltips when hovering over them on the QC list.
  • Quest icons will appear on the world map for quest you have not yet completed.
  • Functionality to display what quests are "In Progress" when browsing the quest lists. If a quest is in progress (i.e In your quest log), then you will see either a grey "?" or a yellow "?", reflecting if the quest is "in progress but not complete" or "in progress and ready to hand in".
  • Supports server query.

Any feedback would be great.

Thanks for a useful addon (especially now that everyquest seems broken):

    Please could you add:
    - an ldb launcher/scan button
    - lightheaded addon integration/docking

I was hoping to find a replacement to EveryQuest since that hasn't been updated for 4.03 and I have seen a lot of activity in updates to this addon. However, after testing it, it doesn't work as well as that addon. The Horde/Alliance database issue is a problem - I've also had whole zones show as completely empty (Howling Fjord for example). Please keep working on it - the addon shows promise but isn't quite there yet.

I am aware that a lot of content is still missing, especially Outland and Wrath content, but this is because as of The Shattering at 4.0.3a I have been running with a completely clean database. The 3360 quests I have collected data on so far is by either questing those areas myself, or from the community emailing me their SavedVaribles files. This then allows me to merge their data into the main database.

The Alliance\Horde flagging will also correct itself as soon as I have received data from both an Alliance and a Horde player for a particular zone. The class and race filters will take a little longer to be accurate, as I essentially need information from every class\race for every quest before I have a complete dataset.

Bear with it, things will be better when the database has bulked out.

Great addon, but it does not support party questing. If this was added, I would download it again. Other than that, it's simple and does the job well.
  • #49
Hey, thanks for the feedback, however can you give some more details on what you mean by party questing? Depending on what you mean I may be able to incorporate it.
  • #47
    any LDB plugin? :-)
  • #43
It would be really great if you added the ability to display directions to the NPC, with add-on TomTom.
  • #44
This is a feature I will be adding once I have the database up to date.
  • #46
OO yess this would be nice, maybe you can click on the quest, it opens up a submenu that dosent go away unless you exit QC or click on the quest or another quest if you get my drift.

The you can have clickable co ords for use with tom tom.

I hope you see where im comming from =P

Ok mate, because i allready have 2 80s and a 70, im making a horde toon and a alliance toon and gonna try do as much quests in the zones as possible (probably apart from starting ones) like outlands, NR,and the classic zones, as i really like this addon and the old one thats way outdated (Everyquest) as i find this one of the most helpful addons in the game, i will send you data hopes twice a week :)
  • #42
Sounds good, any data you send I will get added into the upcoming version.
  • #39
I am currently playing through Outland. I am an undead Rogue. Soon as I finish I will send you what I have. I am still working in HFP. There are so many quests here.
  • #41
Thanks, I'm lacking in Outland and Northrend data at the moment, so this will be very helpful.
  • #34
Its not showing me quests for Nagrand and Netherstorm
  • #35
This is normal at the moment. As of v0.75 i have been working with a completely clean database, and I am strictly only merging data that has been collected using the add-on itself. At the moment since not many people are doing Outland, there is alot of it not currently in the database. If you would like to help out, please send me your SavedVariables file as described in the description above and i will add the quests you have completed to the database.
