Version 102 - WoD Quests and the new Community Editor!

  • Fixed an issue where map icons were not being removed properly, leading to duplication.

Version 101 - WoD Quests and the new Community Editor!

Over the past few months I have been preparing for WoD, and have also been working hard on a new out-of-game Community Editor tool so that its much easier for everyone to have their input into the QC database, and together make it as accurate as possible.

IMPORTANT NOTE: At first my primary goal is to ensure there are full and accurate quest listings per zone for WoD, map pins, etc will come after (And support for map pins will be added to the Community Editor).

  • Hopefully most quests are now in the database.
  • There are ALOT of behind the scenes changes, so if I have broken something please let me know.
  • Not all faction\race\class flags are going to be perfect at this stage, so you may want to adjust filters as needed.

Community Editor Live!

I have hosted my QC database online, and written some software which allows me to generate the Lua code for the addon directly from this central data. This software enables anyone to view the database outside of the game, and also allows the community to contribute corrections if they spot any on their travels (Viewing is available to everyone, you need to contact me for sign on details if you want to save changes). This is obviously completely optional, but your changes are audited then saved directly back to the live database, and will be included in the next iteration of the add-on automatically!

The software can be accessed as a Microsoft ClickOnce application: Here

Still plenty of work to do (Support for map pins, etc on the way), but here is a peek of what the basic quest editor looks like:

Community Editor

Features

  • Lists all quests for each zone.
  • Provides at-a-glance quest feedback, which other similar quest trackers do not. For example a yellow "!" for uncompleted quests, a blue "!" or "?" for Daily and Repeatable quests and so on. This helps prevent confusion, as blizzard never concider Repeatables or Dailys "completed". It also flags special quests as orange, for example the collectors edition quests, or quests which can no longer be done.
  • Automatically switches zones as you travel around the world.
  • Allows you to view or hide quests for the opposing force, or for other classes.
  • Quest tooltips when hovering over them on the QC list.
  • Quest icons will appear on the world map for quest you have not yet completed.
  • Functionality to display what quests are "In Progress" when browsing the quest lists. If a quest is in progress (i.e In your quest log), then you will see either a grey "?" or a yellow "?", reflecting if the quest is "in progress but not complete" or "in progress and ready to hand in".
  • Supports server query.

Any feedback would be great.

hey viduus im having a problem with a few questing areas here and there, im an alliance and i know the QC shows alliance quests and horde quests no matter what side you play on but for example howling fjord almost all the quests show for horde but only a few show for alliance, and the QC is showing that i have completed a load of horde quests o.o can you please try to fix this because it is kinda annoying because i kinda wanna disable the showing of horde quests but i can not right now because of this issue!
  • #75
Hey, don't worry this will be fixed as soon as someone from the Alliance sends me data for that zone. The reason most of them are likely showing as Horde is because I have only received data for that zone from a Horde Character. If you are going to be leveling through these zones, it would be a great help if you could send me your quest data afterwards. Details on how to do this are in the description up above, that way I can get the quests you have completed marked up for Alliance or Both Factions as needed.

    Thanks =)
  • #76
ok i can do that since i have already quested through some of the areas that its showing as only having horde quests and barely any alliance quests so be on the lookout for my quest data.

Does it only consider quests to have been completed if they were completed while running the mod?
  • #74
No, you can go to the bottom of the zone option and use the Query Server feature.

I'm questing in Mount Hyjal right now. QC lists many I've never even heard of as completed. Maybe I'm overlooking something?
  • #70
Could you give a few examples of the quests? As well as what faction\class\race you are, and I will have a look into it.
  • #65
Awesome mod. Exactly what I've been looking for, and the best I've tried so far for this particular purpose.

One question: Would it be possible to add an option to manually hide quests? Would help clear out breadcrumb quests (go talk to this person over there, etc) that become unavailable if you find them beforehand.

    Keep up the good work!
  • #71
I'll be adding this to a future version =)
  • #64
My QC isn't showing that I have completed quest 25985 "Wings Over Mount Hyjal" which I have completed as shown by the fact that the rest of the quest in the string are done... any suggestions?
  • #68
I will have a look into this one for you

    thanks
  • #66
i means quest giver NPC coordinates :D
  • #67
This is a feature i will be working on for a future release =)
  • #62
Just like to add - You need to have it enabled while questing to collect the Data to submit :)
