About Quick Bars

Small half action bars which collapse into a single button when used. /qb or /quickbars to open GUI options panel.

Bars can be hidden, dragged around the screen, and locked in place. options for radial and linear layouts, and expansion in 4 directions.

Intended to be supplemental to standard action bars.

1.4.5
Interface number update

1.4.4
Fix for bars sometimes being set to 4x scale.
Fix for the Lock bar in place check box not working.

1.4.3
Added a small bit of code so the bars will detect the mouse when dragging items and spells so you no longer have to be super-humanly fast to put things on your quick bars.

1.4.2

updated for patch 3.1
Mouse over functionality is back!  Action buttons again auto-hide if the mouse is not held over them.

1.4.1

updated for patch 3.0.8
blizz has removed all functionality which previously allowed for time based hiding of the action buttons.  They have said in a future patch this functionality will be restored somehow, but until then all mods like mine using this are SOL.

in the mean time i have altered the bars to show on mouse over and hide when an action button is clicked.

I also fixed all error messages I could reproduce please let me know if you find any more, and using the reset to defaults button does not clear them up.

1.4

Added the ability to adjust bar scaling and button spacing.

all the v2 -> v3 bugs have been worked out.  (The options menu text is back).

Should be slightly less CPU intensive now.  I found a gap in the hide logic which caused it to always check if it should be hidden after being opened, regardless of how long ago it was closed.  It now only checks if it should close if it is currently open.

I have only had this add on for about, 2 days. lol. I love this add on , but can i just ask for 1 simple request. Can you make the action bar lock? I hate when it minimizes itself. I want it to go away, when i say so. lol ....thanks

I was trying to figure out where the button/action relation was stored and then I realized this addon uses the standard blizzard 120 buttons.
    Nice addon.

sadly i do not have an ETA for a fix, but i wanted to give you all some feedback that i am still alive and will be fixing this as soon as i can.

I haven't had much time for testing but it appears that whatever change broke the basic functionality was a bug and has been repaired in the latest patch. the current version seems to be working again without any changes to the mod.

I do still need to fix the lock button not doing anything however.

I added this mod, used for a while, and now it's gone nowhere to be found. It just disappeared and there's no way to reset the damn thing. I've reset my UI and uninstalled and reinstalled it to no avail. Any suggestions before I delete WOW and start over?

The command /quickbars does not work

I may be missing something but when i check the "Lock Action Bars" in the GUI menu well... they dont lock, and csn still be moved around the screen.
While not a terrible thing it can be a bit annoying sometimes, just thought i'd point it out.

I had been using v1.1 (which is actually v1.4.3, but evidently the TOC file hasn't been updated in a while) when patch 3.2.2 came out. This destroyed my layout of actionbar addons, including yours.

While I wouldn't mind so much setting up one actionbar program for one chara, I have 20 on a variety of servers, and the time would be considerable. I hope in the future you'll come up with a way to save bar location/style/contents between patches, and perhaps allow copying another chara's layout, but for the moment I'll have to disable QuickBars.

"which to answer that question... to change the texture click the icon of the current texture in the top right of the options pannel, then you have to enter the name of a texture in the text box"

Have no clue to what I should write, miss some info about where and how, can't even find the icon folder the line referring to and have no idea what names icons have?...

Is it possible to change the slots shown, don’t use all 6, so could be nice if I could set it to only show 4 or 5, depending on toon?... Did toy a bit with .lua, but ended up with at huge mess, so… :-/

yeah the texture chooser is incredibly crappy heh. to be honest, i would have left it out but my little brother really wanted it. use the command "/print GetActionTexture(1)" to retrieve the texture name of the spell in your action bar slot 1. you can then type that into the texture box to change the anchor button to look like that spell. any button texture will work, but you'll have to do some digging to find ways to get a hold of the other texture names.

its in the to do list to make a graphic texture picker for the anchor button, but it will take a huge amount of time to impliment it,

the print command won't work for me. Must be part of another addon.

    Hei.

Please create a new version of this addz but with many opportunities, an option box is something I miss. good program over the rest
  • #51
what do you mean by an option box? a GUI options window is already in place, just use the slash command /quickbars to open it.
  • #49
I love the idea, but the actionbars need to stay open, or at least have an option (or mayb whole new version) to stay open.

combat spells dont work well when its closing on you.

at any rate its still useful as is.
