About Quick Talents

Quick Talents is a miniaturized talent ui that lets you quickly switch talents or glyphs, It can also move the spell onto your action bar when you switch talents. I created it mainly for use in challenge modes, but it's great for a lot of things.

0.5

  • Re-factored for WoD.
  • Removed Glyph switching, it was a mess and didn't work for a lot of glyphs.
  • Removed Binding system, spells get updated on the action bars by the default ui now.
  • Collapse button is gone, just click the reagent bar to collapse/expand.
  • Fixed issues with the frame being positioned in Africa.
  • Added an option to put the bar on the bottom and collapse downwards.
  • Moved all settings to the slash command (/quicktalents or /qts).

0.4.2

  • Added /qts reset to reset the frame position.

0.4.1

  • Collapse in combat option.

0.4

  • Moved center bar to top.
  • Added collapse/hide toggle button.
  • Added settings window.
  • Replaced button size with window scale.
  • Put borders around glyph frames to distinguish them.
  • Added hover highlighting.
  • Glyph history buttons will only show if they are needed.
  • Spell binding now uses a popup instead of a chat link.
  • Changed spell unbinding (/qts unbind) to make it more reliable.

0.3.3

  • Added command to remove bindings (/qts unbind [spell name]).

0.3.2

  • Fixed issue with settings being defaulted.

0.3.1

  • Patch for PlaceGlyphInSocket fix.

0.3

  • Added Glyph switching.
  • Improved settings menu.

0.2.2

  • Fixed combat detection.

0.2.1

  • Fixed issue with setup running more than once.

0.2

  • Added Settings Menu (/quicktalents [setting] [value])
  • Added Simple Spell Binding (drag talents onto your action bar to bind them)
  • Fixed some combat errors.

I really love this addon. I do hope you keep updating it.

As others have suggested, it would be nice to have access to an options menu that at least allows for locking it into position and maybe a profile option (?) to have it's position relative to the character using it. Just a thought. Very nice as it is and thank you for making it. :-D

Hey I think this addon is a wonderful idea and I hope you keep improving on it. There should be a way to filter out the talents it displays. Some classes only need to change out a single tier from situation to situation. Unless i'm missing something?

  • #67

Hey! I'd like to request a lock addon command so i don't accidentally drag it around after perfectly positioned it :)

    Love this addon!

Small thing:  Would be great if it remembered collapsed state when reloading!  (Currently it resets to expanded form every time I zone in somewhere)

Also seconding the plea for a databroker option.

Is there a way to have like a predefined set of talents to quickswap them? or maybe you could add it? :)

would be great ;) sometimes it's just annoying to switch 3-4 talents from AoE to singletarget and shit :)

Regarding removing the binding system: yes most spells do get updated automatically but for some reason changing Power Infusion to Spirit Shell or vice versa doesn't swap out the icons correctly by default (most of the time, sometimes it does actually work properly), so it would be great since this feature was already included in the addon to be returned for that Priest glyph in particular.

If your answer to my suggestion is no, that's totally fine cause it's still an easy swap manually but do you have any idea why this is happening?

    Thanks for your work!

Loving the addon! However, it doesn't check the talent on spec change. Ex. If I change from my primary spec to secondary spec, I may have a different talent selected for each spec and since macros are not updated on spec change, the macros don't work. If the addon could check the talent on spec change and update the macros accordingly, it'd be amazing!

  • #61

It doesn't deal with macros at all, i took all that actionbar stuff out because it was redundant, with the stuff added in wod you can just put the spell on your bar and it will update itself, alternatively you can use the [talent:y/x] macro conditional to cast your current talent, ie:

/cast [talent:4/1] Void Tendrils; [talent:4/2] Psychic Scream; Dominate Mind

Hi, should be cool to have /quicktalents hide or /quicktalents toggle ;)

  • #59

A broker plug-in would be super for a toggle.. the switching could optionally  be done from a drop-down menu as well :)

I'd also like to be able to mouse over the talents (and hopefully glyphs) and get a tool tip when OOC.

    A great idea...

Hi, I love this addon! If you're open to suggestions on improvements, I think I have TWO good ones.

    1. Tome Management

How about an option to help manage your Tomes of the Clear Mind, by always keeping them at a user defined X number of stacks. Every time you go to a vendor that sells them, it checks how many you have, and buys the missing number required. If you're running low, it will give you a warning that you are running low each time you make a talent swap below say 5 tomes.

    2. What's quicker than a quick talent swap??

Some lucky people out there, such as priests, rogues and hunters are able to leave combat mid fight. So I thought, wouldn't it be awesome if you could switch talents mid fight, because sometimes you forget to e before the fight starts. Or god forbid you end up as someone's mid-fight dungeon-drop replacement. And sometimes you just have one of THOSE tanks. Everybody knows hostile environments are bad for the health. As such, they should be removed from such environments immediatley. I said IMMEDIATELY.

I think due to their nurturing personalities, these tanks will attempt to extricate players from said hostile environments with maximum expediency, often with little regard for their own, or other players' welfare. Charging from mob to mob the moment the healer zones in, this guy leaves you glad you paid 10k for that Loot-A-Rang, but wihtout a spare moment to change talents, or able to find that magical out-of-combat moment when you can set QuickTalents to task.

    Mid-combat and Queued Talent Swaps:

It would be great if you could queue talents to swap at the first opportunity. You hit the talent and glyph you want to change, and the addon checks to see if you're in combat. If TRUE, it begins periodically checking for when this is no longer the case, so it can perform the swap.

This would suit anyone able to drop combat, as well as anyone else with minimal down time in between.

The Overkill Suggestion, not for real real, just for play play...

If you really wanted the super duper steroids version of this particular function, you could also have it check for periodic damage, intercept the command or keybind to vanish and delay the relay momentarily in an attempt synchronise between dmg pulses enough time to make the swap safely and reliably.

And that's it, So thanks once again for a great addon. The addon is nice, simple, and working, and I completely understand if you didn't even want to go anywhere near here. I would be stoked if you were able to impliment even one of these suggestions.

ps. if you read all that you deserve a cookie :)

    Tsu.

TL;DR version - Cookies were given away during the intermission and you missed out :(

There are addons that buy tomes for you already, that's the only reason i didn't add it.
Unlearning requires a hardware event, and can't be done using the same event as vanish/guise (i tried ages ago) since you're still in combat during the event.
The way i used to have it was if you were in combat it would cast guise as you clicked the talent button, so you'd just double click, i think i scraped it because i couldn't come up with a clean way to include the salyin banner, but i don't really remember, i'll have another look since they removed that anyway.

I will also add glyph switching back, probably will not add the 'moving spells onto your bars' thing though.

I hope this gets updated and with glyph swap :)

  • #53

Can we please get the glyph swap back as well?
