About RandomPet
Automatically activates a random pet from your inventory of non-combat pets when you login, zone in, land via fp, etc.
Provides a button that can be moved, button can be used to change pets.
Has command line options that can be scripted in macros
RandomPet AUTOMATICALLY recognizes new pets added to the game, no update to client is needed.
IMPORTANT: The latest patch from blizzard introduced a new slash command called RandomPet. If you want to use any of the command line options for my addon, please use the slash command /rndpet. IMPORTANT!
Update for TOC change. If you do not have any pets in the favorites you may get an error on load, it is harmless.
5.0.9 - Turned of some debugging that was showing, removed text that activates when RandomPet gets a pet.
5.0.7 - Fixed pesky bug causing favorites not to display/save properly. Thanks blizzard for changing the pet api underneath me on that one.

This will cause the GUI to be hidden. This persists between login/logout
/randompet buttonon
This will restore the GUI to normal functionality
/randompet hide
This will hide the GUI, this does not presist. if the GUI is already hidden, it will restore it.
/randompet fav01
This will activate the pet you saved in the top slot
/randompet fav02, fav03 - Activates pets in the middle and bottom slot respectivly

I might be missing something obvious, but is there a way to turn off the button box without disabling the entire addon?

to toggle to button panel in the chat box type
/rndpet hide
this does not remember the on/off status between logins
to force the buttonpanel to be hidden all the time use
/rndpet buttonoff
and
/rndpet buttonon
to restore the panel
Please note that the help is wrong and will be updated - it says to use /randompet but you need to use /rndpet

I love this addon but is there some way to add functionalty for stealth? I'd kind of annoying to turn off and turn on when im in bg's or trying to get around things that will eat me

So what would you want? The addon just disabling when you go into stealth and then re-enabling?
or do you need it to dismiss the pet as well?

Mostly to disable when in stealth or a blanket disable in bg's either or both, the pet can stay out it stealths with you now so dismissing isnt a problem. But randomly trying to sneak aabout even in PvE and having the addon pull a pet is a bad bad thing lol
I am very sorry, going to test it tonight, i may have accidently left a debug setting on.

It's spamming in the chatbox now comstantly since the update 2 days ago I'm going to revert back to the old version until theres a new build

/rndpet quiet
it should shut up the chatter. I will look to see if there is any other issues this weekend for you.

Seems like a good addon, but is there any way of hiding the buttons? They're huge and I really dont need them on my screen, thanks.
You may have noticed I uploaded an update yesterday (9/9/2012). You can hide the buttons between logins by using the commandline
/randompet buttonoff
To turn it back on again
/randompet buttonon
Even though it is hidden, it will still auto summon pets.
If you just want to hide it for the current session use
/randompet hide

Blizard added a slash command called RandomPet which brings out a random pet.
I had to change my slash command to /rndpet in the latest update.
I plan to change the addon name in the near future to solve this issue.

I've only just noticed this message today, so I updated and tried it out. However, using /randompet buttonoff does not work, it just brings out another random pet. In fact, writing /randompet always just gives another pet, regardless of what you write after it.
