About Rarity

Inspired by Bunny Hunter, Rarity tracks how many chances you've had to obtain various rare items throughout the game, and tells you how lucky (or unlucky) you are. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, etc. This is primarily useful for farming companion/battle pets and mounts, but it also supports virtually any item including patterns and designs, archaeology projects, etc.

Rarity tracks an exhaustive list of every mount and companion/battle pet in the entire game (at least those that require significant farming to obtain). Items can be filtered by expansion and type. Rarity factors in the size of a typical group when determining probabilities, and can even tell you if you've killed certain world bosses!

Farming a huge collection of bones for the Bone-White Primal Raptor? Rarity will show you your progress.

Features

  • Provides an LDB feed, tooltips, and progress bar, allowing you to track items of your choice

Tracks every kind of item you can imagine:

  • Supports zone-wide drops (like Hyacinth Macaw)
  • Supports containers (like White Polar Bear)
  • Supports two-level loots (like Disgusting Oozeling)
  • Supports archaeology projects (like Scepter of Azj'Aqir)
  • Supports fishing (like Sea Turtle)
  • Supports item usage (like Mojo)
  • Supports items dropped from bosses that require a group to defeat
  • Supports items obtained from holiday boss bags (like Big Love Rocket)
  • Supports items looted from world containers (like Bonkers)
  • Supports collections of things (like Reins of the Bone-White Primal Raptor)
  • Supports some special cases (like Elementium Geode, Mysterious Camel Figurine)
  • Supports things other than pets and mounts (like Skyshard, Primal Egg, recipes, legendary components)
  • Supports bonus coin rolls (like Mogu Rune of Fate)

Other features:

  • Fully user configurable—you can add your own items to track
  • Adds to game tooltips, showing you when something you're looking at is the source of something that Rarity tracks
  • Lets you modify your kill count without having to edit saved variables
  • Shows an "achievement" alert when you obtain the item
  • Uses boss kill statistics whenever possible to keep track of attempts
  • Can report your progress to various channels or in whispers
  • Tracks how long you've been farming this session, day, week, and month
  • Supports tracking two items at the same time
  • Tells you if you've defeated world bosses this week
  • Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter

You should also install

  • Rarity works best with an LDB display like Fortress, Button Bin, or Titan Panel. If you don't have a display, turn on Rarity's minimap icon. There are lots of displays available—if you don't like one, try another!
  • AddonLoader is highly recommended. This will let you keep the configuration UI unloaded until you need it.
  • Collectinator is a good companion add-on to Rarity. It will show you where to obtain everything that Rarity tracks.
  • Archy is recommended to replace the default Archaeology UI, which Rarity has been known to cause problems with.

- Dandelion Frolicker: Added NPC 71823 to the list of NPCs. Apparently when you leave combat, Scary Sprites have their ID changed from 71826 to 71823, which is the same ID as the Nice Sprites, although the corpses continue to carry the name Scary Sprite. Hopefully this fixes detection for Dandelion Frolicker.

No, Rarity knows the difference between heroic and normal. Blizzard made the mistake of lumping LFR with Normal. Heroic is still separate. Hopefully they split into 3 proper difficulties in the next tier.

  • #72

Would this also mean that the addon has no way to distinguish between normal and heroic dungeon difficulty for tracking e.g. Battered Hilt drops?

    Swift White Hawkstrider

Rarity have stopped counting my attempts on getting the  Swift White Hawkstrider, I'm not sure if it was after an update of the addon or after gettig the companion - but it doesn't count.

Any suggesting of how to trace the error ?

It seems pretty random, sometime it counts other times not

Can it be because i'm killing him to fast and not start floating around in the air +

Hmmmm.... I haven't replied yet because I'm not sure what the problem could be, especially if it sometimes works. It's supposed to track your Statistic (under your Achievements window) for that kill, NOT your looting of the boss. So it could be that Blizzard has a latency or bug with statistics?

Unfortunately, I have nearly every rare in the game at this point (and no alts), so I can't reproduce the issue. I will look at the code again, however.

Edit: I don't see a problem with the code, so the best solution would be to remove the statistic from that item. Blizzard must have a bug with it. That means that historical kills of KT would not be counted if you weren't running Rarity.

hey guess what i download thing and thourt i try to get Toxic Wasteling and.... got it on my first go in my first bag =)

  • #56

Hi, I've noticed that the Strand Crawler pet from the fishing dailies hasn't been included in this addon. I've added it through the Custome tab as:

Obtained by using an item or opening a container / Companion

Iteam ID: 44983, Spell ID: 62561

    Items to Use: 67414,46007

    Chance: 100

    Is the above correct?

  • #58

That's correct! But I'm adding it to the defaults anyway. :) Thanks for the suggestion!

    Toxic Wasteling

The Toxic Wasteling is a drop based on luck, and it would be nice having it in Rarity so I can start QQ next year, about alle the attempts I have had

  • #54

I added Toxic Wasteling just now, but you'll have to manually enter in how many attempts you made since it wasn't counting them this year.

  • #52

Looted The Disgusting Oozling yesterday but got no achievement announcement.   The attempts counter did not reset to zero.

  • #55

Thanks for reporting this! It should be fixed in r106.

  • #44

Why did rarity count one kill on the Swift White Hawkstrider as two?

I had 55 attempts then i switched from Bunny hunter to Rarity, Killed the boss and before I looted it counted as one attempt, And when i looted it counted as another.. So after one kill i ended up at 57 attempts, And my statistics tab in the achievements says 56?

  • #45

Hmm, that's a good point. That problem has probably existed for a while, let me think of a good solution to it. Stay tuned!

  • #50

Yes, the archaeology thing is a known issue and I'm afraid I haven't found the solution yet. I recommend using Archy for archaeology, as it does not have the same problem as the Blizzard default UI.

  • #48

I will try the beta soon and see if that fixes the problem, I also encountered another issue with the addon.. Every single time I solve an archeology project, The next project is always Fanged Cloak Pin, It doesn't matter what race im working on.. I have to close the archeology tab and open it again to see what the next project really is.

I confirmed that it's rarity that's messing up the archeology, Tried disabling it and solve something and it worked as it should.
