About Recipe Radar

Recipe Radar assists players in finding recipes. It knows about vendors who sell recipes in the current region or by profession. It has a number of filtering options and can even locate vendors on the world map.

  • There are two "tabs": the main "radar" tab and one that searches by profession!
  • You can bind a key to Recipe Radar through the main menu!
  • There are lots of filtering options - use the dropdowns to customize Recipe Radar!

v1.403; November 30th, 2011

  • Update support libraries
  • Update TOC for 4.3.0

v1.402; November 27th, 2011

  • Updated for WoW 3.1.

v1.30; March 11, 2009

  • Recipe Radar is now able to parse collapsed reputation sections.

  • This is also true for others' linked trade skills (thank you, Thortok2000!).

Hey there! First, this is an awesome plugin and I fell in love as soon as I installed it a few weeks ago. Now I have this problem : I did a login/logout of all my chars this morning to see if I had not forgotten a mail somewhere. Now, my situation is a little unique in that I have 2 accounts (nothing spectacular so far) but I have made it thus that one account actualy reside in the other account folder. This has the effect that all 16 characters reside in the same folder in my computer. I was tired of doing auction scans on both account every day ;-) So for all intent and purpose, instead of having a maximum number of 8 characters, I have 16. The problem appeared this morning when I checked the recipies on one of them, I got the message : "ASSERT FAILED: Tooltip has too many lines." I was wondering if you could easily make a change for the next version which would allow the addon to take at least 16 characters :-)

Thanks in advance and good job!

First congrats on a awesome addon :) I just love it. However, there are still recipes missing it seems. I was in Azshara and I found some vendors near the shore, even when ur mod indicated no vendors available. Please follow this link to see a more comprehensive list of all vendor recipes, so you may include them in your addon (of course all credit goes to the list maker and so on).

    Thanks and Kudos

  • #32 mistake i thought the uncached recipes meant it didnt have access to them

  • #33

there is some bug in localization i think.

all my recipes go in "inapplicable professions" it dont take in count of my proffessions i learned.

    my mistak? bug?

    regards, teodred@rat von dalaran

Hey there! Recently, I change the profession of one of my char and RR didn't take into account that change. I changed from Leatherworking to Enchanting and when I look at the RR tooltip for something, it still remember that my char is a leatherworker. I have no idea how to correct the problem right now. I will probably remove the RR file in savedvariables and see if it re-learn each of my chars profession on its own.

I didn't make time to add some of the worthwhile feature requests since my last post, and I wanted to get the new version out as close to the patch as possible, so don't expect too much (unless you're using a non-English version).

    • On tooltip lines

I upped the maximum tooltip lines for weirdoes like Nafiel. <grin>

    • On missing recipes

If you find missing recipes/vendors, please let me know which are missing. That link, Howlin, does not seem to be more comprehensive than my current database, and I didn't find any that were missing in Azshara..?

    • On non-English filtering

v1.6 should fix the out-of-whack non-English weirdness. Please let me know if any filtering bugs remain!

    • On unlearning professions

Sigh, I should've checked this forum before releasing a new version! Ah well. I'll put this on the list for the next version - thanks for the report.

    Hi Ladenedge,

      • On Missing Recipes:

Here are some of the recipes I found wrongly listed in your addon. -- Eng'g --

Your addon lists it as Alliance only, it is available for Horde as well.

Your addon lists it as Alliance only, but according to Allakhazam it is available for Horde as well.

    -- L/W --

Your addon lists it as Alliance only, but it is available for Horde as well.

Your addon lists it as Alliance only, but it is available for Horde as well.

Your addon lists it as Alliance only, but I do beleive it is available for Horde as well. Check "Ruppo Zipcoil" above, as they stand next to each other.

      • On Unlearning Professions:

Deleting RD's saved variable under WTF worked as a temp solution for me before.

      • On Specialisation:

The specialisation feature seemed to have stop working in 1.11. Tribal and Elemental LW recipes are still flagged as available for my Dragonscale LW character.

Kudos again and keep up this most excellent work :)

At first I have to say "sorry" for my poor English because I come from Italy :) Secondly, I have a little question about Recipe Radar (nice addon, I love it :): Is it legal to retrieve recipe information from the server if the item isn't in the client database? Why does it result in a crash if the item wasn't found on the server?

Sorry for my questions, I'm just a little bit worried :)

P.S. I've sent this question per mail but I'm not sure if it was sent cause the mail program is a little bit buggy.

Hehe. Thanks for the added lines, but after logging in my 15th char, it began spouting this error : Interface\AddOns\RecipeRadar\AvailabilityTooltip.lua:18: attempt to index local `line' (a nil value) So I looked that the AvailabilityTooltip.xml file and I added a few more line package, up to 24 and it works now :-) Incidentally, I had deleted my saved variable file and now all the trades are fine as well.

    • On incorrect vendors

Thank you for that dilligence, Howlin - I very much appreciate it. It never occurred to me that I might have the factions wrong! I've included your changes in v1.7.

    • On the legality of caching recipes

When an uncached recipe is also not cached on the server, Lauriel, WoW purposely disconnects us to prevent us from 'fishing' for unknown items (by repeatedly entering new item numbers and trying to retrieve them).

I have not heard anything about this process being against the ToS, nor have I encountered any trouble after several disconnects in the last couple of months during development of the addon. I can't imagine they would find what we're doing here objectionable.

Having said that, it really must be your responsibility to make sure that your gameplay and addons meet the ToS *as you understand them*, not as *I* understand them!

Obviously, if you find out anything more official than the above, I'd love to hear about it so that I can put it in the README or something like that.

(Ack, sorry Nafiel - didn't see your post in time for v1.7. I'll fix that (again) for the next release.)

Both the reputation and specialization checks are on for the next version, in theory. Unfortunately I didn't think of it from the start, so it means a little bit of redesign.

As for the alts, it is possible to delete skill data for one character only using an undocumented slash command: /rrdr debug skills [case sensitive character name]

Of course, you also can't open trade skill windows with those alts or it'll just refresh.

  • #42

I'll just get right to the point:

I worked for hours to get most of the names of the recipes together (visited all the vendors, etc.) and after the new patch 1.11 all my data was lost. ;( I worked and collected the recipe names again but with the little patch last week (1.11.2) I lost everything AGAIN.

I saved all the data (the addon folder and the complete WTF server inclusive the luas from recipce radar and so on), but after I copied the saved old data completly back to the actual WOW folder I still didn't get my recipe names back.

So I want to know if the data is saved somewhere I can "rescue" it or if I will loose all my data everytime. As great as this addon is, I won't do all the work again and collect the names of the recipes if I have to start all over again and again.

  • #43

hi is it possible to add in or make a similiar reciepe rador that shows drop/BOP receipe (showing the existence of the receipe. we can thotbot it ourselves) ? This will greatly enhance the radar's functionality and satifiy some recipe hunters like us :)

  • #44

Does this work with the latest patch 112? EU servers still down, simply can't wait to know it ;-)µ

edit: WORKS! Let us hope that the author that he would never stop updating this %-) It's amazing how fast my alts skilled their profs!
