About Rewatch

Rewatch is an addon to help you monitor your healing-over-time (HoT) spells as a druid. There's an easy main window which you can move around, which will contain six bars for every target; a healthbar, energy-/rage-/manabar, lifebloom bar, rejuvenation bar, regrowth bar and a wild growth bar. Simply click a spell bar to cast that spell on that specific player and watch the clicked bar channel down as the corresponding HoT spell runs out.

Party- and raidhealing has never been so easy!

Important notes

Just extract this entire folder to your World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns/ folder and run the game. By default, this AddOn will be enabled on every character. No need to disable it for your non-druid classes by the way; it will not load on these characters so you won't have to bother about that.

After installing the AddOn, all you will need to do is launch the game and log in to your druid character. You will notice the Rewatch frame in the middle of your screen. The odds are small you want the AddOn to be placed here - just move it to it's new location by click&dragging the entire frame to the desired location; there's a small bar at the bottom of the frame that is left blank so you can always use that to drag it around.

Adding and removing players

Players are automatically added to the list once you group with them, and will also be automatically removed if one of them (or you) leaves. If there's a player in the list you don't want to have in there anymore, simply right-click his/her healthbar and click '''Remove player''' to remove the player. By doing this, however, you will automatically turn off the auto-adjust to group feature to prevent the removed player from popping back up again. You can turn this feature back on in the options menu, or typing '''/rewatch autogroup 1'''.

Manually adding players is allowed through the '''/rewatch add [_target||<name>]''' command. Erh, that means, typing '''/rewatch add''' will try to add your current target, or you can specify a name using '''/rewatch add namehere'''. If you're persistent and want to add someone that doesn't exist, you can, just add the word '''always''' after the name of the player you specified. To quickly add pets, right-click their owner's HP bar and click '''Add his/her pet'''.

Casting heals

  • If you wish to target a player from your list, left-click on his/her healthbar.
  • To cast or refresh his/her Lifebloom, simply click on the Lifebloom bar, which is the top one. Same goes for Rejuvenation, Regrowth and Wild Growth, just click the bar! They are listed in that order. You'll see the clicked bar channel down as this player's corresponding HoT spell runs out.
  • The first small button to the bottom left of a player frame is the Swiftmend button; just click it to cast a Swiftmend on that player.
  • If the player is cursed or poisoned, the Remove Corruption / Nature's Cure button will fade-in next to the Swiftmend button. Simply click it to cure your pal! When you specced for it, magic debuffs also trigger this.
  • Then we have Ironbark as button, click it to give that player a little extra protection. It's not a healing spell but it's damn useful!
  • And for those that want to use Healing Touch or Wild Mushroom, those are also available as buttons.
  • For every casted spell: rightclick or click with a modifier (shift, ctrl, alt) pops Nature's Swiftness along with the heal for some instant recovery!
  • On the Rejuvenation bar, this will cast Genesis for you instead.

All of the important spells, right at a single click away. Told you it was easy!

For those that prefer mouse-over macro's, these work on the Rewatch player frames as well. Just mouse-over the playerframe of the player you want to heal, and hit the keybind to your mouse-over macro. You can find these macro's here: I definitely recommend using this!

You can adjust the AddOn to fit your needs in the options menu, accessible through the command '''/rewatch options''' or '''Esc > Interface > AddOns > Rewatch'''. Note that these options are not processed live; you will have to click '''Okay''' to save and confirm changes before they have effect. That means if you click '''Cancel''', all options will revert back. Exception to this are the bars- and framecolors, these are directly processed and have no undo feature.

Did you know?!

  • Did you know you can shift-click on a dead player's HP bar to rez him? Automatically choses CR in combat and a normal rez when out of combat!
  • Alt-click will cast Nature's Cure for some quick cleansing.
  • The cooldown of CR is displayed on the Wild Mushroom button. Nature's Swiftness cooldown is displayed on the Healing Touch button.
  • Rightclick the HP bar for some extra options: to remove this player, add his/her pet, or highlight for a quick view.
  • The command '''/rewatch sort''' re-organises your frames, sometimes it's messed up after a few replacements in the raid.
  • If you use commandline commands much, you can save yourself some typing by using '''/rew''' instead of '''/rewatch'''!
  • Only using Rewatch for the tanks? You can disable the auto-group feature and then write a macro to add the tanks you know by '''/rewatch add tankname''' - if the tank's not in your group they won't be added.
  • Different frame control; Forced height. You can use '''/rewatch forcedHeight [number]''' to define the height instead of the 'Number of frames' width!
  • Limit the total number of frames in your Rewatch frame by using '''/rewatch maxPlayers [number]'''.
  • Rightclick, shift-click, ctrl-click or alt-click a spellbar or -button to cast Nature's Swiftness in addition to the spell.
  • Rightclick the main Rewatch frame to (un)lock it.
  • Try some preset layouts using '''/rewatch layout'''.
  • In the Highlighting options, add some aura's you need to be careful of. I'll fill this list myself over time by raiding, please feel free to contribute!
  • Change the alt, shift and ctrl-click modifier macro's on the HP bar in the options to anything you'd like! (by default (in order) Nature's Cure, (Combat) Rez and Innervate)

Q: Where is the Rewatch AddOn? I can't find it!

A: Check if you have extracted it in the World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns folder. If it still won't show up, make sure you log on your druid! ;)

Q: Where can I adjust some settings?

It's in the general WoW settings, Esc > Interface > AddOns > Rewatch.

Q: Rewatch looks strange, how can I reset it to it's defaults?

A: You can use the options menu to set it to it's default, but this won't likely solve your issue. You've probably updated from a previous version and forgot to remove some old configuration files. Exit WoW, delete all World of Warcraft/WTF/Account/'''accountname'''/SavedVariables/Rewatch.* files and load up WoW again. That should do it.

Q: Why do I get an error when trying to re-sort the list in the WoW UI panel?

A: This error occurs if you disabled the auto-adjust to group feature. Resorting is actually just a clear, and then puts all grouped players back in a correct order. But this cannot be performed since you didn't allow the AddOn to adjust to the group! So make sure this feature is enabled before hitting the button. If you're in the WoW UI, make sure you clicked the '''Done''' button when changing the checkbox, because else the new check state will not be saved. Also, typing '''/rewatch autogroup 1''' will re-enable it.

Q: It doesn't automatically put players on my Rewatch list anymore! Why?

A: Because you told Rewatch you don't want it to. You probably removed a player from the list by right-clicking his/her healthbar and clicking '''Remove player''', which automatically turns the auto-update feature of Rewatch off. Since if it wouldn't, then Rewatch will sooner or later detect this player in your party but not in the list, and will add it again. Turn the auto-update feature back on in the rewatch options menu, or through '''/rewatch autogroup 1'''.

This may have already been addressed but I could not find it. I love this addon, however, the timers are horribly off for me. I remember reading that it calculates for your lag time or something like that. But, my timers are constantly off by 5 or 6 seconds causing me to overheal and be mana inefficent. Is there any way to make the timers count off the full duration of the HoT. Thanks.
  • #313
The bars should last for your full HoT duration. I think you may not have selected the proper configuration options (talents, glyphs). Check out "/rewatch options" and see if all settings are correct! :)

I love this addon. So simple, so nearly perfect. I only wish it could cover buff casting/monitoring and a way to do tranquility from it (but maybe I'm just lazy :P). I looked at addons like healbot and this one by far looks the best and simplest to use...and in close moments that is what matters.

Is there a way to have the player frames snap into place during combat as well?

Awesome job with this addon :D
  • #310
    Haha, thanks for your reply!

Sorry, Tranquility isn't there on purpose. It's been in there, with GotW and Innervate and such, but I deliberately chose to drop those since I prefer leaving that functionality to specific toolbar addons (Bartender).

The only kind of buff monitoring I have is the "/rew check", which checks Thorns and MotW buffs on your raid. I hardly use it myself though, I stack up on reagents and toss a GoTW on every raidcheck ^_^

I'd love to have frames snap in combat, but unfortunately WoW does not allow me moving frames from an Addon at that time. This is to prevent cases where you could automatize gameplay. Of course we know that this snapping is nowhere near botting, but we'll have to cope with the line Blizzard drew, I'm afraid. :D

Let me say that this is the only must have add-on I use; all of the rest are for aesthetic or extra utility purposes. When Rewatch doesn't work, I go a little crazy. I love the simple, easy to use interface that puts just about every piece of information a resto druid needs. I've used it in raids of all sizes.

For version number, you could always link to the 3.3-1, 3.3-2, etc. Then it can easily be identified by the patch and your revision in the patch. Another way would be to link it to the date of release, 09.1209.

I'm not completely familiar with lua, but I'm trying to learn. I have a couple of ideas/requests/suggestions for feature modifications. I don't know how to make them myself or I would send you code snippets to implement.

1 - Allow for frame scaling instead of adjusting bar width and trying to guess at whether the buttons will line up.
2 - Have an option to enable the Nature's Swiftness cooldown to show on the Healing Touch icon. If the only way to do that would be to replace the HT icon with the NS icon, other people might not be so keen on that idea. It's nice knowing when the cool down is up for those Oh S...! moments.
3 - Adding the option to select colors for the highlighting. An example would be the Incinerate Flesh and Legion Flames in the Jaraxxus fight. Having both highlight red isn't effective, but if we could choose a color that would be helpful. A possible implementation would be to increase the number of input boxes to 2 or 3, where each of those input boxes used a different highlight color. In 10 man raids, it's no big deal, but sometimes in 25 man raids it's hard to find the toon in peril.

Obviously, you make no to little money off of the add-on and invest your time in making it work, so I thank you and do not expect you to jump on any suggestion immediately. But, if you are bored one day and feel the urge to code, I hope you'll give my ideas some consideration.
  • #311
Thank you for your considerate reply! It's a shame a lot of people miss that last point you make. Luckily I have those urges you mention quite often, unfortunately I have also many projects to spend it on, haha.

Although my version numbers are messed up, I don't think I should change them for revision management sake.

1 - A very valid point you make here. Never thought of it, but it's actually very silly to be adjusting width rather than scale. Splitting this up into an x-scale and y-scale would allow for all the combinations one'd desire.
2 - Another great idea, I think I actually had this in a previous version but it got lost in a major code revise along the way.
3 - Hmm yeah, I don't do 25-mans much but like on Saurfang this one-colour highlighting can be pretty annoying. Efficiency-wise I'll need to investigate what the effect will be for keeping multiple lists, but I think it will be neglectable.

Hope I get the time to throw in these suggestions soon! Good ideas always make my hands tingle ;) Thanks again!

Sorry, hotfix for the RRJ glyph support!

I need some smarter way of managing version numbers, cuz this 5.2.9 is getting silly. Anyways, should be up on Curse soon! Have fun!
  • #303
Just want to say, that while I know this isn't the most popular addon on Curse, I consider it about a must-have for my healing, and recommend it to any other druid healer I come across. The ability to keep track of my hots is absolutely invaluable, and the click-to-cast functionality really helps an Oprah Winfrey healing style. (You get a HoT! And you get a HoT! Everyone gets a new HoT!!!)
  • #304
Hahaha, excellent! Glad you like it mate :D Thanks!

It may not be the most popular addon indeed, but you have no idea how happy I am with the 40k downloads it still managed to get!
  • #302
The update for 3.3 is online! As usual, it takes some time before Curse catches up, but here's the direct link so you can get it immediately:
  • #301
Go go need your pro addon ^^
healed ulduar and toc with this addon its great keep up the good work.. :D
  • #299
Will update shortly! Like all EU players I needa wait for the servers to come online before I can test my changes. This new glyph (which I definitely am gonna try!) brings some extra work.

If I don't manage to get this working in time for any raid you may have tonight, like me, you can probably load it out-of-date!
  • #298
This still supported? Best druid healing mod out there. grid can fuk off
  • #297
Is there anyway to get to show raid icons? Like star, moon, square ect ect.
