About RSA - Raeli's Spell Announcer

Requests, Bugs & Known issues

Please use Curse's Curseforge ticket tracker to create requests, suggestions, or post bug reports:

RSA, Raeli's Spell Announcer, by Raeli of Arathor-EU (Now Maintained by Jenneth), is an addon that aims to help players with the announcement of certain spells, as well as reminding you of important missing buffs. For example, it can detect when you cast Divine Protection, and it will send a message like so:
Divine Protection Example
As you can see, it can announce when it first is cast, and then again when it ends, not only that, but you can customise the messages that are sent.

Type /rsa in game to open in game configuration, or access it through the Blizzard Interface panel.

Spell Announcements

There is the ability to create custom message announcements, you can use certain tags to say what the target is and so on:

  • [SPELL] will be replaced with the name of the spell
  • [LINK] will be replaced by a clickable spell link of the spell cast
  • [TARGET] will be replaced with the target of the spell (only works with spells that can be put on targets other than yourself)
  • [AMOUNT] will be replaced with the amount of damage or healing done (only applicable to certain spells)
  • [MISSTYPE] will be replaced with the type of spell miss (Such as Miss, Immune, Resist again, only available to certain spells)
  • [AURA] will be replaced with the buff or debuff that is removed by dispels
  • [AURALINK] will be replaced with a clickable spell link of the buff or debuff that is removed by dispels
  • [TARCAST] will be replaced by the spell that you have just interrupted
  • [TARLINK] will be replaced by a clickable spell link of the spell that you have just interrupted

Some of these are only usable for certain spells, each spell lists what is available for you to use in game.

If you want to use a percent sign in your message you need to type it twice: %% to allow it to show, else you will receive errors.

If you leave a Start or End message empty, it will simply not announce that part. So if you only want, to say, announce when Divine Protection ends, you leave the Start message empty, and only have an End message set.

You can set where to announce spells:

  • Local - This sends messages to your own chat window, or the raid warning frame or both depending on your setting
  • Raid - Sends a message to the raid chat, if you are in a raid.
  • Party - Sends a message to the party chat, if you are in a party.
  • Smart Party - Sends a message to either instance chat, raid chat or party chat, depending on group size and location.
  • Say
  • Yell
  • Whisper - only when the target it someone else than yourself.
  • Custom Channel - You can send it to a custom channel, like, say, your healing channel. This option is now unique for each spell, so you can send different spell announcements to different places.
  • You can disable Raid/Party/Say/Custom Channel announcements while you have PvP active, if you are Ungrouped, or if you are not in an instance. Whispers and Local messages will always announce if checked.

Buff Reminder Options

You can set what spell you want to track. You can also:

  • Disable reminding while you have PvP active
  • Enable or disable reminding in your primary or secondary specs
  • Set how often you want to be reminded
  • Set where you want the announcements to be sent (local only - visible only to yourself)

Fixed issue with spamming in Ashran. RSA now recognizes queued Ashran, Tol Barad, Wintergrasp, etc. as Battlegrounds, and only announces to them if Battlegrounds is checked in the options. (Ticket 304). The individual setting for Tol Barad has been removed.

Brewmaster monk Guard spell dosn't announce when you use the glyph.

Can i fix this on my end?

  • #993

Just curious if it would be doable to announce a "respec"?

  • #991

still not coping with the pandarian version of concentration potion.

    Under General Announcements / Personal.

Smart Group not working properly - it duplicates every message in /say. If smart group AND say are selected, stuff is getting posted to /say twice. If Smart Say is checked it will stop, but then the whole thing is useless for soloing (I like to know when my kicks are successful and such).

Also, Guardian of Ancient Kings still isn't working. I saw this posted somewhere else, but it's honestly one of the reasons I use it this mod for raiding on my pally tank. The spell is listed as "Guarding of the Ancient Kings" in the pulldown menu, however the word "the" doesn't actually show up in the ability name. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

    Still love this addon!

From my understanding, the Protection version of GoAK Doesn't work, but the other two do, and it's because of wow not sending any combat log events about it - apparently - I can't confirm this, it's just what I'm told. If you do have or know of a way of tracking it, please post it :)

I'd imagine Forte is scanning the buff frame - which seems to be the most obvious way. However, doing that just for this one spell, and even only in one spec at that, seems like overkill, I can't think off the top of my head, and a few things have changed since Cataclysm, but it would be pretty resource intensive I think. If people really want it though, I'm sure Xadurk can come up with something along those lines, and like other things, should easily be disabled if you don't need/want it, so it wouldn't be using resources unnecessarily.

Fortexorcist announces GoAK, not sure what its using to track but maybe take a look at it?  Thanks!

  • #992

Damn, sucks about GoaK. Tried it in my holy spec and yeah, it's reporting that one fine.

Something else about the Smart Group thing - it only does it in raid groups. In a regular 5 man party, smart group will only post messages to /party like it's supposed to, in a raid group it's sending it to /say and /raid.

  • #988

Priest dispel Purify isn't displaying at all

  • #987

Is it possible to add the druid talent Ursol's Vortex? I use it a lot in raids these days, but the graphic is very subtle. It would be amazing if I could give a shout to the raid once the AOE has successfully been placed on the ground (like Ring of Frost for example).

Additionally, could the talent Nature's Vigil also be added? I think it would be useful to announce in say or whatnot when damage dealers are providing AOE heals to the raid.

Thank you! Love the addon so far, and sorry for the trouble!

I also found some possible bugs. All general settings were properly enabled to ensure these announcements would work. Stampeding Roar doesn't appear to be triggering an announcement at all. And Tranquility seems to spam start and end announcements in say twice in a row when triggered with the "Say" and "Smart Group" opions checked.

Hi there, I was wondering if there's any plans adding Demoralizing Banner? Also, for me when I place Skull Banner it does announce it, however it won't announce when it ends.

  • #985

symbiose does not work - no posts in chat

  • #984

I noticed that the Monk Ability "Revival" is not in this addon.. Is there any way to manually add it?  This is our only major CD for healing really..

Dan what are you guys up to now anyway? Saw the guild site has finished so just wondered. I kept looking now and again to see how you were doing.

Mostly just LoL, and messing around on EVE to be honest. Contemplating trying out MoP, primarily so I can update all my addons again, but dunno if I want to spend 50Euros or whatever to get a sub and MoP when I may not even end up playing 30 days.
