About Satchel Scanner

This addon scans the LFD Frame for Satchels of Exotic Mysteries, if it finds anything you will be notified

If there is a satchel for from Instance X it will notify you with warning that you can get a Satchel of Exotic Mysteries from Instance X for Class Y
There is also a frame showing what instance giving the satchel

Why?
Well if you are like me, only like doing random heroics to get a satchel and cannot be bothered to spam 'I' all the time, this addon does it for you!

How do I use the addon?
Type: /ss3 toggle or /satchelscan toggle to show the Frame
Press 'Start' to start scanning and 'Stop' to stop scanning
Pressing X will hide the frame and you will have to show it again by using /ss3 toggle
Note: It will still scan when hidden!
Commands:
/ss3 toggle
/ss3 config

Q/A
Q: Why is the text not instantly being updated when pressing "start" scan?
A: This is due to the current scanning mechanism, will be fixed in a later version for faster text updating

If you have any questions regarding this addon please post in the comment field and I will do my best to reply
If you have any ideas in how the addon can be programmed to be faster or better PM me with your idea/code and you will be credited in the mainpost if I find it useable.

Addon updated for 5.2.0, various fixes and so on. Been away for a while due to a recent head injury(Intracranial hemorrhage ftw) so havent had the time to update. If there are any issues let me know and I'll ship it with the next version.

In the upcoming version I'll toss in a minimap, and the ability to disable/enable the sound. Also tossing in an option to open up the "Dungeon Finder" frame so you can manually queue, less (I) pressing! The ability to only warn for X amount of seconds before stopping the scan and various amount of new stuff!

    Version 2.2.0 ETA: March 22

Possible to add the ability to autoqueue?

  • #50

Particularly with the recent changes to the ability to queue, I suspect it isn't possible to auto-queue.

  • #43

Would be awesome if this addon could be fixed to reflect healing queues not showing up as tank, etc.  I really like this addon and would prefer using it over another.

Just downloaded this addon (haven't used since Cata) and notice there are a few bugs on my first few heroic instance runs.

Line 170, I think this is suppose to be commented out. Replace

    printm("Event: " .. event);

    with

    --printm("Event: " .. event);

Line 200, this is the issue why healer queues are showing up as tank. Replace

    RaidNotice_AddMessage(RaidWarningFrame, ctaVar[1], ChatTypeInfo["RAID_WARNING"])

    with

    RaidNotice_AddMessage(RaidWarningFrame, ctaVar[2], ChatTypeInfo["RAID_WARNING"])

Line 217, this is the issue why dps queues are showing up as tank. Replace

    RaidNotice_AddMessage(RaidWarningFrame, ctaVar[1], ChatTypeInfo["RAID_WARNING"])

    with

    RaidNotice_AddMessage(RaidWarningFrame, ctaVar[3], ChatTypeInfo["RAID_WARNING"])

    Suggestion:

Hide the addon when game is loaded up/player entering world since not everyone is going to queue instances right as they log on. Users can just use "/ss3 toggle" to open the interface up whenever they are going to queue instances.

Line 164, Hides interface when player enters world/reloadUI. After

if event == "ADDON_LOADED" and arg == "SatchelScanner" then

Add the follow line right under it:

    MainFrame:Hide()

I cue as dps and heals and when the call to arms comes up for heals ..it says Tank..I know this is a simple word fix..but just reinforcing that the issue is still there

    Same!

    you going to update? =)

  • #34

I love this addon, I queue only for heroics whenever it pops up, which is every 5 minutes for a tank at the moment!

But, perhaps a minimap button (with square/round skin) that you can click to show/hide the window would be awesome instead of having to type something?

    Love your work!

Absolutely this. Also an option to auto que when it finds a satchel would be awesome.

  • #38

It is possible in code, atleast it used to be. However the addon cannot accept the queue.

I'm not going to code a such a thing due to the fact that I've seen it in action already. Tanks signing up for satchel and not accepting because the guy running the addon is afk.

    - Next version is coming today probs. Fixing "the healer warning pretending to be a tank warning" issue and some other stuff

  • #37

I don't think that's possible, addons aren't allowed to do any sort of action for you.

    IIRC?

  • #33

Works perfect other than it says Call To Arms Tank for my shaman. Its queued as Heals. No biggy jw if there is any way to change it?

    Greetings!

I'm currently in the progress of updating this to adjust for Cataclysm dungeons.

Cataclysm will feature Misty Satchel of Exotic Mysteries and Satchel of Exotic Mysteries each depending on level. This is in the progress of update. From what it seems I will release one update before MoP and one on the release date of MoP containing the new dungeons and stachel IDs. I'm currently unaware if challanges will offer anything so this is still just scanning random dungeons. Scaleable window is in the progress, however my LUA coding skills is no older than a total of 50hours, but I will get there :)
