What is it:

  • This little Tweak replaces the soundfiles form the World of Warcraft Gun with the sound from the Bow. (Normal Bow sounds for your annoying Gun)
  • works wonderful with patch 4.3

Why?

  • I just wanted my old bow sound for my WotlK/ Cataclym Gun, guess some of my Hunter fellows feel me here. So is upload is for you all. It´s also for all Gamers who are annoyed standing near a Hunter with a gun, and want that banging in there ears to stop.

How to:

  • Downlad the File and unzip it. You will find a "sound" folder and a readme.txt
  • close World of Warcraft!
  • go to your World of Warcraft Folder you find the "Data" Folder, copie the "sound" Folder there.
  • like this: World of Warcraft -> Data -> Sound

FAQ:

  • What if some day I want to here that annoying gun again?
  • No Problem, this addon only write itself before the orginal soundfiles, and don´t delete anything. Just delete the sound Folder, but only that folder!! World of Warcraft -> Data -> Sound

also compatible with Patch 4.1

    That´s saidly right, i´m playing again since a friend send me one of those Scrolls 2 weeks ago.

    One day on the Battlefield I was hearing the f..ing gunsound again.

    If anyone got an Idea, please let me know

    I can get it working found this on another site

    Apparently Blizzard determined that using sounds other than the original sounds was a violation of the rules for playing the game so they 'fixed it' so the game no longer reads these files.  This was told to me by WoW GM Flangarinoth on a ticket I created.

    Bad decision on Blizzard's part. 

    Can anyone come with another work-around so those that don't care to hear the annoying gun sounds don't have to?

    Wish I had seen this closer to the time it was written. This author uses the same mechanism I use with my little addon called "Core Hound Lava Sound Quieter." What you should do is drag the "Data" folder you will find in his zip file to your World of Warcraft folder. He has placed the "Data" folder in his zip file so it must be installed from the top level folder in WoW.

    What you should see when you finish is a new folder under "Data" called "Sound". Restart WoW and you should hear your new sounds.

    I woul dlove to get this addon to work, i got my DK mount sound to work, but i cant get this addon to work for me. What am i doing wrong..instructions say to just drag the folder to DATA, ive done this... specificly i-
    Extract the DLed file, i open the sound folder and drag the ITEM folder (with all its sub folders) and drop it into the SOUND folder in my WOW directory.
    Help me?
