About ShoutSwitcher

ShoutSwitcher is a simple addon to help warriors switch between Battle Shout and Commanding Shout.

It creates a macro named ShoutSwitcher in your per-character macros, and changes the macro to cast Battle Shout or Commanding Shout depending on whether you have external buffs which provide the same benefits.

ShoutSwitcher is extremely lightweight. It only activates when you gain or lose a buff, is totally inactive during combat, and if you are not a Warrior it doesn't load at all.

How To Use

To use ShoutSwitcher simply drag the ShoutSwitcher macro to your action bars. There are no configuration settings or options and no slash-commands.

Limitations

Because of intentional restrictions by Blizzard the macro can only update out of combat.

Equivalent Buffs

External buffs equivalent to Commanding Shout are:

  • Commanding Shout from other players
  • Blood Pact
  • Power Word: Fortitude
  • Runescroll of Fortitude II
  • Qiraji Fortitude

External buffs equivalent to Battle Shout are:

  • Battle Shout from other players
  • Strength of Earth (totem)
  • Horn of Winter
  • Roar of Courage

Shout Priority

The priority is:

  1. If you have a HP buff and no Str/Agi buff: Battle Shout.
  2. If you have a Str/Agi buff but no HP buff: Commanding Shout
  3. If you have both, whichever shout will override the one with the shortest duration.
  4. If you have neither or both and have previously shouted, the same shout again.
  5. If you have neither or both and are a prot warrior: Commanding Shout.
  6. Otherwise: Battle Shout.

If This AddOn Seems Abandoned

If more than two weeks go by after a major patch and this addon isn't updated, I've probably been hit by a bus. In that case I encourage anyone with the necessary ability to take over maintenance of the addon. It is released under the terms of the GNU General Public License, which means anyone can take it and do whatever they want with it, as long as they too release their code under the same terms.
