About SimpleMp3 Player 2010

NOTE: I do not recommend using the curse client to install this addon, it has a bad habit of erasing things, including your MP3s.......

SimpleMp3 Player for WoW 3.x is a highly functional in game music mod that lets you select and play your favorite songs using an intuitively simple interface. The main display features a song timer with scrolling name text, previous and next buttons, and a shuffle function. There's also an easy to navigate Playlist which simplifies song selection along with a volume slider featuring mouse wheel control. Each of these interfaces can be individually accessed and easily hidden away all with one simple click of the Mini-Map Button.

v3.3.5.4 [Paradox]
* Missed a couple of SimpleMp3_PrevCLick() -> SimpleMp3_PrevClick()
* General code style cleanups, such as changing if ( something ) to if (something)
* Fixed an issue with errors on startup when using simplemp3 for the first time, or with a new character, thanks abiost for pointing it out.
* Fixed a typo in install.txt Thanks DJSyn for bringing it to my attention.

v3.3.5.3 [Paradox]
* Add Mousewheel function to main interface to control the volume.
* Fix up several xml warnings/errors which didn't really seem to be affecting anything. (Found after importing the project in WoW Addon Studio)
* Change incorrect Clamp="true" to correct clampedToScreen="true" now, the interface cannot be dragged off the screen, and will not get stuck or lost :)
* Fix typo that caused the previous button to throw an error. (I guess no one tried to go back to a previous song lately)
* Remove "Music has stopped" output.
* Fix Options and Time Switch buttons text.
* Tons of xml optimizations.
* Virtualized the forms, buttons, etc. for the playlist and library windows, which will allow me to easily add new lists in the future, and cuts down on the space taken up by duplicated code.
* I tested as much as I could, and there shouldn't have been any new bugs, but, please be sure to report any you find.

v3.3.5.2 [Paradox]
* Fix Volume resetting to half instead of last setting when reloading/entering world.
* Fix various other issues with saved variables.

v3.3.5.1 [Paradox]
* New option added to keep SMp3 from lowering the music volume while voice chatting. Suggested by BurningThunder http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/simple-mp3-player-2008/tickets/9-option-to-keep-music-at-the-same-volume-when-using/
* DefaultMp3Library added, if your Library is empty (you forgot to run the generator) this will add all the default music from WOW to your Library, so it won't be empty, In the future, I plan on adding another frame (like the existing Library and Playlist frames) that will allow you to add music from this list to your Playlist, even if you already have a Library generated. http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/simple-mp3-player-2008/tickets/4-add-default-library-file/
* Added an option that will go to the next song when the UI is reloaded, when you first enter, when teleporting or after a cinematic/death, etc. Suggested by Hendo72 http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/simple-mp3-player-2008/tickets/5-restarting-songs-on-ui-reload/
* Added a button to the interface that allows you to remove the currently playing song from the playlist. Suggested by Limb0 http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/simple-mp3-player-2008/tickets/11-button-to-remove-the-currently-playing-song-on-the/
* Added a button on the interface, as well as a checkbox in the options, to disable/enable all output to the Chat Frame. Suggested by hippogriff12 http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/simple-mp3-player-2008/tickets/13-adding-ability-to-remove-notifications-in-the-chat/
* Changed the button placement on the interface to fit the new buttons, and to make their appearance a bit neater.
* Added Error output so you can still get error messages, even if normal output is disabled.
* Added Debug output and option checkbox, for displaying debug messages separate from normal and error output.
* Untranslated text removed from localizations. Please submit any translations for untranslated text.
* Made changes to the Playlist Creator, it is now extracted to its own directory under interface\addons, don't forget to rename and unzip the zip file in the SimplePlaylist directory.
* Some changes made mean you will need to completely delete your existing SimpleMp3 folder before extracting this new version, Don't forget to move your Mp3s first, you will also need to run the new Playlist Creator after moving your Mp3s back to the proper directory.

* Add buttons to playlist and library windows that allow you to sort directly, without going to Options.
* Add ability to select several tracks to add/remove (LeftClick + Ctrl to select tracks and press the new button) Once I got this working, I realized, it's kind of useless, but...

v3.1.0.9 [Paradox]
* Fix option for playing default music when not playing a song through SMp3.
* Create separate, invisible frame for handling all counters and events (OnUpdate and OnEvent) this may help speed up the overall interface, and allows the minimap button to be hidden without messing things up.
* Some other code cleanups.

* Fix last minute typo that prevented Options from working correctly.

* Updated some documentation.
* Remove Cosmos Plugin, no one ever reported actually using this, anymore, and, if they want it, old versions of Smp3 are still downloadable.

v2.4.2.6b [Paradox]
* Changed Playlist Generator to allow Python to convert the unicode it can, please let me know if you get any "maps to undefined" errors.
* Code "modularized" a bit, shouldn't cause any problems, just makes it easier to work with.
* Code for interfacing with Cosmos moved to plugins directory, eventually other interfaces, like Titan and FuBar may be added.
* Playlist.lua is now SimpleMp3Library.lua this is part of making the playlist generator work for other mp3 players (if the author codes for it)
* Simple.Mp3.Playlist.Creator.vx.xx renamed to Playlist.Creator

* Moved some hard coded English output to localization file, please submit translations, or let me know if I missed some text you think can be localized
* Small tweaks/fixes
* Found the reason some mp3s report the wrong length. If you have problems with songs being reported longer than they are, you need to download VBRfix from
    http://www.willwap.co.uk/Programs/vbrfix.php

    The songs seem to be fine but the addon is ticking 2 seconds every 1 second so the addon skips to the next track thinking the song has finshed when it still has half the song to play.
  • #272
    Are you using the Titan plugin?
  • #274
    yep i disabled it and now it works correctly thanks.
  • #275
    Sorry for the problem. I think I fixed it in my addon.
  • #266
    thanks for this nice mod ;)
  • #267
    No, thank you.
  • #263
    omg, where is the pause button!?
  • #265
    Ask Blizzard, they only allow start and stop, no pause, no fast forward, no reverse.
  • #262
    With 3106 always the music starts after login, and the options window is empty. I go back to 3105.
  • #264
    I've found the problem and fixed it, 3.1.0.7 should be available shortly.
  • #260
    OK, new version is up, I did not add Voice chat compatibility, Chat spamming, or an alternate update scheme in this release, they should be ready for the next release. I was going to include a Titan Panel Addon with this release, created by SuddenDeath2000, but, have decided, instead to promote his plugin, if you are looking for that sort of thing, however, I recommend that you wait until his next release, as the current version (3.1) has some issues which will cause the same behavior mentioned below, because it hides the minimap button. I have provided him with the info he needs to fix the problem, and, he should be updating soon.
  • #261
    Yep, new version is and and the issues with playlist progression are resolved. Also added a couple of new double-click options suggested by IAmParadox. Just need to wait for Curse to approve it.
  • #258
    I have found out why some of you are having problems with songs not advancing. You are hiding the minimap button (or some addon you use is) and, a button that is not visible cannot update, all of the code that keeps track of how long the song has been playing is handled by the minimap button, and when it's hidden, it doesn't work correctly. I will work on creating a hidden frame that does all the update stuff, if this is possible, and enough people want me to do it.
  • #256
    I tried this addon because I really wanted to be able to listen to my own large library of MP3s while playing. However they are on a different drive then I have WoW on and because of the requirement to move the MP3s to a directory called MP3 in the addon folder I decided that this Addon was not worth using. I think you should find a way to allow (even if it has to be manually entered into the lua files) people to choose the directory they wish to play from. Also allowing it to play subdirectories. I have all my music divided by artist and in those directories by album. Otherwise I think this is a cool concept but at this point it's only a concept and not usable by those of us who like to keep things organized and see no point in replicating things when it's already got its own directory.
  • #257
    You are completely wrong, and would have known this, if you had bothered to read the documentation.

    First, Blizzard is the one who is limiting where you can place your mp3s, WOW will not load any files that are located outside of its own directory structure, but, you can fool it using junctions, as long as the music files are located on a drive physically attached to your computer, you can't make a junction to a network drive. And, SimpleMp3 Player has no problems whatsoever with sub directories. And, this addon has been completely usable for more than a year now, not just a concept. Get your facts straight.
