About Skada Damage Meter

Skada is a modular damage meter with various viewing modes. It is inspired mainly by Assessment, but also by Recount.

Skada sports segmented fights and detailed views, while being highly efficient with memory. This is accomplished by aggregating data on fight segments.

Skada is entirely modular. The built-in modes can all be toggled on/off.

Features:

  • Automatic mode switching when entering combat. For example, you can have Threat mode be shown in combat. Skada can switch back after combat ends.
  • Specific fight segments can be kept indefinately.
  • Multiple windows. Each window can be configured fully.
  • Threat mode can warn on high threat.
  • Modes: Damage done, DPS, Threat, Enemy damage done, Enemy damage taken, Healing, Overhealing, Total healing, Absorbs estimated, Damage taken, Dispels, Mana regen, Debuff uptimes, and more.
  • Reports can be done everywhere. For example, you can report a certain player's Debuff uptimes.
  • Summary information for most modes (DPS, HPS, Fails, etc) in a LDB view/minimap button.
  • LDB data feed can show personal/raid DPS or personal threat.
  • Support for SharedMedia and Class Colors.

Skada is very easy to extend, and there are many "plug-in" addons out there that add functionality, such as:

There is a page with API information here.

Usage:

Navigation in Skada is done by "drilling down" to the information you want. You go to a lower level, showing more detailed information, by clicking on it, and you go to a higher level by right-clicking.

The top level is the list of all saved fight segments. The second level is the list of all available data modes, such as Damage Done. The third level is one of these modes. Most modes let you drill down for further details. Some modes have several detailed views. In this case you choose alternate views by holding certain keys pressed while clicking. For example, in Damage mode, you can Shift-click a player to see what enemies the player caused damage to. Tooltips will display how to reach the different views.

You can also use window buttons for selecting fight segment and mode directly.

Scrolling in Skada is done with the mousewheel.

New Skada windows can be created from the configuration screen. Each window can be separately configured. A popular feature is "Mode switching", which lets Skada automatically switch to a specific mode on entering combat.

There is a forum thread for discussion on Skada.
Suggestions and bug reports here. Bug reports in comments will be deleted.

"Skada" is Swedish for "Damage".

I update in hopes the battleground bug is fixed but it never is.
  • #1227
The "Hide in PvP" option works perfectly for me, so unless someone who can reproduce the problem can also fix it, it is not likely to get fixed.

What happened to this addon? I have been watching for weeks now and have seen this addon go from one of the best to something far less...
Seems to me that the "look" changes you have made has caused many issues with its functionality... "look" changes are not needed... Functionality IS...
Please return this addon to greatness and stop trying to make it "look" different
  • #1222
You will have to be more specific. The slightly changed "look" as you say is just the default look and it can easily be configured for the previous default "look". If you do not like it, just use another addon.
  • #1238
You have made many look changes... caused positioning all out of wack... changed window sizes and limitations... changed the number of items shown in a list... and that's not counting the actual numbers and real core functionality... and then you wana say dont like it use something else... fine d--- head

I'm facing the following problems with Skada:

    1) Doesn't refresh itself somtimes. For example, I'm at one pack of adds in a dungeon, kill it, then go to the next one and it still adds it to the damage of the previous encounter

    2) Sometimes it sets itself on Total (Damage/Healing etc.), when I always want it to show the Current fight statistics.

Is the writer of the addon not updating it anymore? We haven't heard from him for a while and certainly haven't seen an update too.

  • #1220
After the update I can't make a report anymore.
  • #1218
Been having a problem using SKADA and unable to "Set Focus" on a target during heroic runs. Gives me error message, asks to "Disable?" and Skada is the only addon turned off upon reload. Fix or how to fix this?

i kinda preferred the old version as well, the minimap button is a lil touchy and seem to mis-click on other options instead of intended now, grrrrrrr
  • #1214
I installed Skada yesterday and I can't see it. /skada toggle and nothing happens. Updated it today and still same.

Few weeks ago worked like a charm, but now seems to be broken. I'm also using ELV UI if that's problem with new version...
  • #1215
ElvUI modifies Skada to make it fit into the UI. You should visit ElvUI's forum. Skada itself works fine.
  • #1213
Version 1.2-34 worked perfectly in ElvUI. What changed in Skada to break in that time frame? ElvUI claims a Skada bug. Skada claims a ElvUI bug....
  • #1216
same problem here... maybe skada dev can talk to elv ui dev and get it sorted out?
  • #1219
Just use an older version of Skada. It works perfectly fine and integrates into ElvUI like it's supposed to. ElvUI 3.0 will be released in a month or two, so until then be patient and wait for his fix.
  • #1212
Can you tell me how to hide bar backgrounds? I use a dark bar colour and I can't tell it apart from the background in Firelands. I have tried editing a lot of the LUA but haven't been able to hide the background yet :/
  • #1217
    Meh, finally found it myself:
    Line 1062 of Skada\lib\SpecializedLibBars-1.0

    self.bgtexture:SetVertexColor(0.3, 0.3, 0.3, 0.6)
    To:
    self.bgtexture:SetVertexColor(0, 0, 0, 0)
