About Skillet

Skillet: A trade skill window replacement

Skillet is a replacement for the default tradeskill and craft UI, and is based on ATSW, by Slarti. This is not a continuation of ATSW, which is still going strong as far as I know, but is rather a brand new mod based in the ideas in ATSW.

To report bugs and request new features check: http://www.wowace.com/addons/skillet/tickets/
To help with Localization see: http://www.wowace.com/addons/skillet/localization/

Features

  • User editable list of notes attached to reagents and crafted items.

  • The shopping list of items needed for all queued recipes for all alts can be displayed at banks, auction houses, or from the command line
  • Items needed for crafting queued items can be automatically retrieved from your bank or guild bank (by using the shopping list)

FAQ

  • What are the numbers in the middle and how to hide them? - It's the number of craftable items using reagents in your bag, bank, alts. Right+Click on the bag icon to turn them off
  • How to search in the item name only? - Start your search phrase with exclamation mark: !ink
  • How to search in Auction House? - Alt+Click on shopping list
  • How to retrieve items from bank? - Turn on "Display shopping list at banks"
  • How to turn off Skillet temporarily? - Shift+Click your profession button/link. It also works for View All in your Guild Tab.
  • How to use Enchanting Vellum? - Right Click on Process/Create/Create All button. You create only 1 enchanted vellum, repeat to create more
  • How to use auto Milling/Prospecting? - Alt+Click/Right Click on Prospect/Milling icons. You can also create a macro /click SkilletAutoMilling or /click SkilletAutoProspecting
  • How to paste a recipe in the chat? - double click on the recipe list

As far as I know, Blizzard won't actually LET addons do that.  You have to click a button for each new type of item being crafted.

  • #693

Same problem as others. I am using the newest version 2.43(as is my wife), and we both have the issue of randomized recipes showing up. Sometimes it works fine, other times when i open a skill tab, i have a random number of recipes showing or no recipes at all. Only having the problem with 'crafting' skills though.

  • #692

Ever since the latest patch I've had to disable this addon, everytime I try and port somewhere on my mage the game locks up, or if I just try and take a portal anywhere on any other toon same happens, Using the latest version. Any suggestions? I'm really missing this addon to.

  • #690

Skillet has been messing up more and more often for me since 5.2. Lots of times I'll open a profession window and either it simply doesn't open, or it'll show a blank recipe list or it'll show a random selection of recipes that I cant sort through. Opening a profession window during combat almost always results in a bugged recipe list.

  • #691

Which Skillet version? Only the latest should work fine and it was released not so long ago.

  • #689

    Hello,
I don't know which version of Skillet you have used, but as you might read here we had some serius issues after patch 5.2 and it was caused by an undocumented change (bug) in one of the Wow functions. Unfortunatelly even the initial workaround was not perfect - it was working sometimes, and sometimes not. You must know, that there is no real documentation for the wow API and every patch is
a lottery. If Blizzard introduces a bug, many of the addons suffer. It happened after 5.0 (problems with Glyph frame) and it happened now.
Skillet itself also has some bugs (grouping features need some love), but main functionalities used by most of the people should work stable.

I downloaded this as an alternative for ATSW a couple of nights ago and that's all it's done is glitch. It lags when I try to open my professions, now and again it just won't open at all and tonight when I click tailoring, it opens inscription. 6 times out of 10 it refuses to load any of the items I can make.  When it does load the items sometimes I can't click on them or filtering doesn't work.

I do like what the author is trying to do with this mod. I like how it skips things when you don't have the ingredients instead of stopping dead. It just needs an awful lot more work. I look forward to seeing it further on in it's development when some of the bugs have been fixed.

  • #685

Im never using this one again.  Downloaded it earlier, installed it (clean install mind you, I had no settings left behind or whatever, I use the Curse Client to keep that stuff clean), then I started a new priest alt, went and learned his professions, bought ingredients to level up cooking first.  In trying to make Spice Bread, this addon did NOTHING.  All I could do was queue the bread.  Create, Create All, Process, etc. did absolutely nothing.  The way I see it, and correct me if Im wrong, a trade skills addon should be able to ASSIST you with your trade skills, am I right?

I fixed the problem by logging out of the game, launching Curse Client, and deleting this garbage from my game.  Here's to better results for other people, Im sure this has to work for someone.  I just know it isnt me.

All I want is a simple trade skills addon that is doublewide (WTF is Blizzard thinking by not expanding their frame by now), and one that helps me queue up items.  That's it.  I dont need any other functions.  I dont need it to buy mats for me, I dont need it to estimate disenchantment results, I just need a bigger interface than the native, and one whose CREATE buttons WORK.

    sigh

    PEBCAK

Quick question - Did you use the latest version? (I have 2.4.3 installed here, the one Curse Client gave me). It might have been the client giving you the older version still (Curse takes its time making sure the very latest version is the one the client installs)

Re: Skillet 2.42 and Crafted Dreadful names

The names for the discovered gear items (like LW's Crafted Dreadful Gladiator's Mail, Leather, etc.) are so long they cover each other and it's pretty hard to use like that.  I realize it's not your fault - it's Blizzard's for making such long names.  But if you could work out a way to improve the display for those, it would certainly be a help.

And that's my only complaint - I'm not having any of the issues others have listed below, Skillet 2.42 is working perfectly for me.  Thanks for this great addon!

  • #688

Just make the dialog a bit bigger, by dragging in the lower right corner. That's what I did to see the new long names.

Posted once before but it seems the post is missing.

When I open a crafting skill with the current Skillet update, I receive the following:

And when I close the message and try the skill again, Skillet opens but all the crafting entrys are blank. The only to "fix" this is to type: /reload ui

    And that only works once.

With this kind of annoyance, Skillet is less useful than Blizzards native crafting set up.

For a possible fix please see my comment on http://www.wowace.com/addons/skillet/tickets/238-skillet-data-lua-error . The error hasn't occured for any of my characters since I have implemented this change. It would be great if someone else could test this and report if it worked for them.

Same here, I get that pretty often with the new version.

Reloading the UI and then start by opening a secondary profession seems to "kick start" Skillet and work for the current session.
