About Sniff-B-Gone

This is a quick mod to remove the sniffing sound that worgen do. If you like the noise good for you. Personally it annoys the ever living crud out of me.

How it works

It places empty sound files for those noises in to the Data folder that override the defaults. It removes the sound for males and females and should work on NPCs as well.

How to install

Simply extract the zip in to your World of Warcraft folder. Directory structure must be maintained for this to work. It does NOT go in the Interface folder

It installs in to <WoW Install>\Data\Sound\Creature\worgen<male & female>

Do not use the Curse Client. Since this does not go in to the Interface folder the Curse Client will not work.

    Any chance of making a version of this to get rid of the chakra / inner focus sounds of priests, it's really annoying when they keep it going for a minute

    Nothing is more annoying than listing to that stupid dog slobbering, mouth slurping, lip smacking noise from a Worgen while wearing headphones. Makes ones skin crawl and forces one to keep a bucket next to the PC just in case in makes you nauseous.

    Thanks so much for this mod.

    I'm not sure what Blizzard was thinking when they recorded that god awful sound.

    Oh man ... *curtsy before you* Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I love my worgen, but can't express how irritating the nearly constant snuffling is. O.o *downloads and breathes a sigh of relief*

    in my data folder i have no sound folder. there's no individual sound files to replace... yes, i'm on a pc.

    nevermind. by putting the sound folder into the data folder, it made the sniffs stop anyway. so this isn't replacing files, it's creating them.

    Heres another sound request: Can you put up a file that replaces the god awful shadowpriest Mindflay sound with the more tolerable drain life sound from warlocks? The mindflay sound is holymissileloop

    I would prefer to keep projects restricted to the removal of sounds as opposed to the replacement of them.

    Aside from the increased time involved (WoW can't actually play its own extracted audio, requiring re-encoding) which I'm happy to do, sound is a very subjective thing. Someone might want Ice Lance to sound like Starsurge while another person may feel that Starsurge is a dumb idea and feel the Banshee death scream is ideal. I could potentially reach a point where I am pumping out hundreds of mods that in fact had little public interest beyond the person who requested it.

    And the first request I got for a replacement from someone's favourite anime would cause me to die a little inside.

    At some point in the future I may upload a step-by-step tutorial for sound replacement so people can customize their audio to their heart's content.

    If you'd like I can throw up a quick mod that mutes Mindflay?

    Actually i figured out how to do it myself, replaced the mind flay sound with drain life, much more tolerable.

    Words cannot express how much I love you. And even more seeing you're entertaining requests for other sounds, so I'll put in mine. The dismount sound (now also when you mount up) is horrible. I don't mind the new smoke effect as much, but since they put in the sound to appear both when dismounting and mounting, it's starting to grate on my ears.

    Would it be possible to make a file that kills the mounting/dismounting smokecloud also? the new one they added for dismounting in 4.06 is really making me frustrated.

    I've done two other sound mods on request so I'm sure I could manage one more if you could be more specific.

    Cat as in Druid? Cat as in Hunter pet? Cat as in mount?

    All the idle sounds? One or two specific sounds..?
