About SpellFlash: ReSham

NOTICE! THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED.

SpellFlash: ReSham makes suggestions of what abilites you may want to use next by flashing on top of the spell buttons. It is used to maximize DPS as an Enhancement or Elemental Shaman or to help you easily keep track of your shields as Restoration.

Requirements
- This plugin requires SpellFlash to function.

Configuration
You may configure ReSham to ignore certain talent trees as well as disable flashing while resting or not in combat. To open the Options window, just type:

/resham

Enhancement Priority List
- Buffs (Weapons, Lightning Shield)
- Searing Totem
- Stormstrike
- Lava Lash
- Lightning Bolt (if 5 stacks of Maelstrom)
- Unleash Elements
- Flame Shock (if Unleash Flame is up)
- Earth Shock
- Fire Nova (if Magma or Fire Elemental totem is active)

Elemental Priority List
- Buffs (Lightning Shield, Flametongue Weapon)
- Totems (Searing Totem, Wrath of Air Totem)
- Flame Shock
- Lava Burst (if off cooldown)
- Earth Shock (if you have 8 or more Lightning Shield charges)
- Lightning Bolt

Restoration
- Earth Shield monitoring alerts you if no active buff is detected in your party or raid or when one or fewer charges remain on your current buff.
- Checks for your essential totems (Flametongue, Healing Stream Totem, Wrath of Air Totem).
- Monitors your two important buffs; Water Shield and Earthliving Weapon.

Looking Forward
- Support for lower level Shamans

  • Experimental: Changed the way Flame Shock is handled in the Enhancement rotation. The following sequential conditions now apply:
    • If the player has the Unleash Flame buff and the buff duration is between 1 and 4 seconds, Flame Shock will flash in order to prevent wasting the Unleash Flame buff.
    • If the Flame Shock debuff duration on your target is less than or equal to 4 seconds and you do not have the Unleash Flame buff and the cooldown on Unleash Elements is greater than or equal to 3 seconds, Flame Shock will flash in order to keep your dot active.
    • If you have the Unleash Flame buff, Flame Shock will flash.
  • Changed the way totems are handled in the Elemental rotation. Searing Totem will not flash if you already have a Fire Elemental Totem on the ground.
  • Included Heroism support for Alliance Shaman (oops).

  • ReSham will now be enabled while out of combat by default. You will still find the option to disable this feature in the configuration window.
  • Totem flashing has been moved to a separate function. Your main damage dealing rotation will now continue to flash regardless of the status of your totems.

    Does anybody know if there is any update coming to this addon in the new future or just  keep using 1.4.5? It appears Erott hasn't made any comments about the issues with the addon since March 5th.

    My resham isnt working, it isnt flashing!!
    It is working with my other chars, but not with my shaman....
    i alredy reinstaled, but wtill isnt flshing :#

    I am having an issue with Spellflash not working on my Ench Shaman. It was working about a week ago but not working now. I have read Erott's comments in post #44 -As for your second issue, I was previously unaware of the "In combat only" option within SpellFlash and did not design ReSham with this in mind. You are most definitely correct in that it does cause a conflict should both "In combat only" and "Enable Resham while out of combat" options be enabled. Though it appears SpellFlash over-rides the ReSham option should you enable it.

    I recommend you uncheck the "In Combat Only" option within the SpellFlash options and keep both options enabled in ReSham.

    I am still unable to get the spellflash to work and I completely uninstalled the addon along with the saved variables. I did a generic install and went with those options and still doesn't work. Spellflash is working on my on my other charaters, but not on the shaman. 


    Edit: I reinstalled version-1.4.5 and everything seems to works just fine so there must be something wrong with 1.4.7.

    I would like to implement the next thing: Riptide when is ready to blink or flash! and a bug found,either i put earth shield on me or on someone else it still blinks and blink even if I have mouseover macro or not.

    Hello Norizion, thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, this plugin offers limited Restoration support by design. I have only chosen to monitor essential spells such as your totems or weapon enchants. Since healing is very situational, there really isnt any set pattern to follow. For this reason I dont feel it necessary to have any of the abilities flash. It is up to you to use your better judgement with regards to when and what spells to cast.

    As for the bug you described, it is in fact not a bug. As written in the description of the addon: "If your Earth Shield target is set as your focus target, it will monitor the number of remaining charges and flash when there is one or less remaining." It will not stop flashing because you have not set the player with the Earth Shield as your focus target.

    Edit: Changed the way Earth Shield monitoring works. See 1.4.7 release notes.

    I haven't been playing my shammy for a few weeks but now I have just come back to it, I have this problem:

    Certain spells such as Elemental Mastery,  Wrath of Air and Searing Totems are flashing without even selecting a target. However, no "normal" combat spells flash (shocks, Lava Burst etc). I have also discovered that they will only flash this way when outside.

    They used to only flash as soon as you selected a target. Now the only way to get rid of this is to check the "In combat only" setting but that way, you have to hit mobs with something to get the flashing started. 

    As well as the above "In combat only" setting, there is also an "Enable Resham while out of combat" checkbox in the ReSham module and these two could cause conflicts of interest.

    There's more to this than meets the eye and I will do some further investigation.

    Hello DaveJ,

    The problem you described (partially) is a design by choice. As a Shaman, your totems play a very large role in the output, may that be damage or healing, of your character. They are also great utilities in both PvE and PvP. The reason your totems always flash is because you should always be keeping certain totems active. Originally these 'core' totems and spells were part of the rotation. This meant they would not flash until certain conditions were met. I felt this got in the way especially since no situation is perfect and you cannot always follow a set pattern of events or recommendations.

    For example, if you are playing as an Elemental Shaman and your Wrath of Air totem expires, I feel it is more important you are notified immediately as opposed to only after you cast certain spells. I felt this also got in the way especially while playing as an Enhancement Shaman. To have your rotation interrupted by a failing totem, then being forced to drop that totem really messes with the swing of things.

    This is the reason I moved these core spells to separate functions in the 1.3.5 release; outside the players rotation. I feel the way totems are handled works for most players and the situations they encounter. Elemental Mastery specifically, is a bug that has since been addressed in the latest release.

    Just curious why Resham will not work but DK/Hunter/Priest all work - it shows it as being loaded and when I type /resham it pops up but it won't flash at all under either enh or ele :(

    Each of the plugins you listed was created and is maintained by different people. One plugin that works doesn't mean they all will work. As for your issue, I can't help you unless you provide more details such as any error codes you are receiving. However, if I were to take a stab in the dark, I'd say its probably because you're standing in a city in front of a training dummy and didn't check off the little boxes that say "enable while resting" and "enable while not in combat". Try that and let me know what happens.

    I am no longer actively working on this project as I have since stopped playing World of Warcraft. Given I am not familiar with any changes that may have been made to the game, I would be unable to provide you with an update. Sorry.
