There is an unwanted dependency between Spellflash: X-Hunter and Spellflash: Druid, Spellflash: Priest etc. If I want to remove one of them, the Curse installer complains that each of the others are needed to run.

I fail to see the correlation, other than the necessity of Spellflash and the -core.

You're not the only one to notice that, or other installation issues.

That dependency isn't going to change, and it's not really the fault of x-hunter.  It's due to how BigRedBrent packages the Spellflash (and Bitten) plugins.  He has a different philosophy of how his Spellflash related addons should be packaged than you and I, or others for that matter, share. Most likely it's built more around plugin maintenance convenience for the author over any convenience for users.  It's been called to his attention, and he's made it clear that it isn't going to change.

It's his set of plugins so, like it or not, it's his call.  It you like the plugin, like I do, you just live with it.

    Many thanks for your explanation.

Of course I will live with it, the modules are a great asset to the game, but I was just wondering why I would need everything while only playing a few classes. Sounded a bit unlogical to me ..

It's a brilliant product and I love the activity around it - notice how fast the modules are being updated since the MoP release.

I thank him for that :)

    Cheers.

Why two(2) hunter seperate mods for hunters?

I see one called SpellFlash: X-Hunter, authored by Exalter and one called SpellFlash: Hunter, authored by BigRedBrent.  Now on an MMO-Champ forum I see Exalter posting that he says, "I have went a little further with some of the addons with timing, for Example Spellflash: Druid(Cat and Bear), SpellFlash: Paladin(Ret), Spellflash: Priest(Shadow), and Spellflash: Mage(Fire).", but did he give Hunters the same treatment.  Both of the hunter addons were updated in December, so neither of them is out-of-date.  Could you please let me know what the difference between them is and which one is better for pure DPS.  I currently play a Surv/BM hunter ilvl388.  Thanks for your time reading this

I cant honestly tell you what the differences are anymore.  I know bigred has made changes to the Original hunter moduel, it might be better or maybe not.  I dont play a hunter anymore, but this version was mainly looking at your dps rotations in PVE.  Bigred added alot more to his as for survivability and possibly pvp.  The best way to findout is to try them both I guess =)

I do wish to commend you for all the hard work that you've put into the project. As a hunter, I've found that my DPS has gone up since installing SpellFlash.

You updated this, but however it is still outdated for 4.3. I modified the toc file to 40300 though. Also anyway to remove the flashing of the pet stances?
  • #11

Haha, yeah I can add pet stances ON|OFF to the options menu for X-hunter..
