About Swyn's Guild Promoter
Purpose
This mod is basically a guild management tool for casual guilds with a lot of members.
It provides a number of features, but is mostly built around the ability to promote or demote based on Total and Weekly activity, aswell as Level, Achievement Points and Guild Reputation, or any combination thereof.
It does not offer any method of promotion or demotion based on time offline or how long someone has been in the guild.
Version 2
Version 2 has made some critical changes over version 1.
Rank Settings
You can now promote via Total GuildXP, Weekly GuildXP, Level, Achievement Points and Guild Reputation, or any combination thereof, for every single rank.
Alt Settings
Alts are supported and they are determined by having either the main's character name, or an arbitrary name in either their public or officer notes. This can be changed to whichever you prefer.
The way the mod promotes alts can also be changed between Individual, Alt Rank, Combined Highest and Combined Sum Total.
Filter Settings
Filters have been overhauled yet again in the 2.04.00 patch. They work just as before, allowing you to essentially block someone from some of the addon's automated features, but the way the mod finds these filters has changed.
The current filters include Do Not Promote (!p), Do Not Demote (!d), Do Not List (!l), Do Not Kick (!k) and Not an Alt (!a).
To combine them, all you have to do is put the filter prefix, default !, followed by the filters letters. An example of all 5 filters would be !pdlka.
Export
You can now export the settings you use to your guild members, your target, or via whisper to anyone else using this addon. This allows you to synchronise your settings with other officer's within the guild making guild control even easier.
Localisation
I've also implemented localisation in this version, so should you wish to translate into your own language, feel free.
For a more in-depth description of each feature, click the Settings button in the addon's UI. It will provide a little more detail.
Most features also come with their own description in their settings tab.
Slash Commands
/sgp - Will show a list of slash commands.
/sgp show - Shows the UI.
/sgp hide - Hides the UI.
/sgp settings - Opens the Settings UI.
2.05.03
- Fixed issue with creating defaults for new guilds
2.05.02
- Fixed UI and processing issues with duplicate rank names.
- Fixed an issue when loading saved settings when guild rank names didnt match saved rank names.
2.05.01
- Updated TOC to 5.2
2.05.00
- Fixed a bug with the export feature. With any luck it should work as intended now.
- The addon should no longer revert to default settings if you only change a ranks name. It will still revert to default settings if the number of ranks changes.
- Implemented a tooltip for each rank header in the Rank Settings tab. This will tell you what each ranks permissions are, as well as various statistics that may be of use.
- Possibly introduced new bugs. I haven't had a great deal of time to fully test this version. Use 2.04.02 and report the bugs if necessary.
2.04.02
- Fixed a bug that allowed you to import settings from someone with a different version of the addon or even someone in a different guild.
2.04.01
- Added the ability to convert public and officer notes from the old filter method to the new method. You will find this in the General Settings tab.
2.04.00
- Warning: Due to significant changes in this version, your settings will be reset to default!
- Added a General Settings tab within which I added the ability to change the UI's scale.
- Added a Guild Removal tab within which you'll be able to kick people from the guild based on days offline.
- Overhauled the Filters.
- Instead of requiring each filter to be a single word, such as "DNP DND DNL", it now requires 1 word.
- You start the word with the filter prefix (default !) and then follow that up with the filters.
- So, instead of the old "DNP DND DNL" you can now change it to "!pdl". Bearing in mind that these are default values.
- Instead of requiring each filter to be a single word, such as "DNP DND DNL", it now requires 1 word.
- Added two new filters. Do Not Kick and Not An Alt.
- A person with the Do Not Kick filter (default !k) will be ignored by the new Guild Removal feature.
- A person with the Not an Alt filter (default !a) will not be considered an alt, even if they have a name in their note. Simplez.
- A person with the Do Not Kick filter (default !k) will be ignored by the new Guild Removal feature.
2.03.01
- TOC update for 5.1.0.
2.03.00
- Added a list for each filter into the Filters tab of the settings window. They will show you who is currently being filtered.
2.02.03
- Fixed a bug where the Individual Alt Mode was basically being ignored. It should now work as intended.
2.02.02
- The Export, Promote and Demote buttons will be disabled, just like the Find button, if you decide not to reload your UI when critical guild changes occur.
2.02.01
- The warning that your settings have been reset due to changes in guild ranks will no longer spam you if you decide not to reload the UI.
- The Find button will be disabled if you decide not to reload your UI when critical guild changes occur.
2.02.00 - Beta
- Changing the number, order or name of guild ranks will cause the saved settings to restore to default.
- When the settings are restored to default, a warning will pop up to show that it has happened.
- Added an Export option where you can export your settings to other people.
2.01.00 - Beta
- First stable Beta release.

First I love the addon.
But it has me thinking.. and sadly google.. review of posts..ect I cant find it somewhere. If someone posted it and I did not see it. Im sorry.. I really did try and look.
Is there any direct coreltation between Guild Activitiy and the Guild Rep a users is.
For Example.. if a user earns 2,000,000 they are Honored.
Kind a thinking of making a toon and just walking thru it.. but if someone already had the mappings.. that would be great
Hmm, yes and no.
You get guild reputation and guild activity for completing quests, so they do scale together. However, they are seperate because you can gain them both other ways, and you can use a Guild Tabard to scale reputation even faster.
So yes, the higher someones Guild Activity, the more likely their reputation will be higher - but not necessarily.
Hope that helps.
This is the error I get when I try to queue for PVP:
Date: 2013-04-01 02:37:28
ID: 1
Error occured in: AddOn: SwynGuildPromoter
Count: 1
Message: Error: AddOn SwynGuildPromoter attempted to call a forbidden function (JoinBattlefield()) from a tainted execution path.
--snipped--
I'll reply the same way I did to the other post earlier.
I never access any restricted API functions. Usually it's caused by the game thinking I'm accessing the world map, but from your post it's apparently trying to access JoinBattlefield. I don't do this, ever.
The only functions I use are the Guild control functions so there is nothing I can do about the bugs you're getting. I'm sorry.
Disabling the addon shouldn't do anything to the settings. They'll still be there. The only thing that should cause a full reset is if you change anything major within the guild while the addon is disabled.
Once the addon is loaded it'll check against saved information with current guild information and if there's a discrepancy, usually number of ranks, it'll force a reset.
It's possible something else I'm doing is messing with it, but I'm not in a position to be able to test that just at the moment.
I'll look into it asap though.
Ok well if that is the case maybe you can allow saves of settings so I can disable the addon when I don't need it and still come back with the settings I had previously, instead of a full reset.
Thanks, great addon! One thought, we promote people based on 2 variables, their level in the game or their reputation with the guild, but it means changing settings back & forth every time we think to do a check.
So do you mean, for example, you will give them a higher guild rank if they are atleast say level 85 *or* exalted with the guild?
If not can you give a examples please.
I have spoken to various other people that have this addon and none have reported the same error. I am not saying you are not getting it and can understand why you think it is this addon, however you must also understand that given the addon does not deal with anything in the area you have reported let alone call the "JoinBattlefield()" function ttat this does make it difficult to diagnose.
To help work out what is going on can you please give a complete list of the addons you use when the error occurs.
What can happen is that there is something else causing the taint and that is occuring in a way which make it look like it is this addon. This is something that can happen more than you think.
"Has nothing to do with your addon", but well when disabling your addon, error is not given anymore. All other up to date addons works fine without giving any errors. I got tens of addons and only this addon gives me the error. So yes, there is something in addon which causes this error. If it cannot be fixed, maybe there is some other way to avoid it, I dunno. To do pvp I must disable this addon, so basically I logout and enable this addon only when I'm going to check guild ranks and relog with addon disabled to continue playing.
That bug, I'm sorry to say, has absolutely nothing to do with my addon.
In the addon I never go near any restricted API functions. I know it pops up sometimes during combat or other places, but it really has nothing to do with me. It's either a bug in the WoW client, or another conflicting addon.
It is often caused, apparently, by my addon trying to access the world map. I never do this, so it's not my fault, and not something I can fix.
Yeah, u got it, they are either level 90 OR they are exalted with the guild, either way they would step up in rank automatically.
One other unrelated thing came up I should mention. Logged into version 5.2 with the addon loaded. Attempt to join a BG. Error message says: "SwynGuildPromoter has been blocked from an action only available to the Blizzard UI." Disabling the addon allows me to join a BG.
this add on will do nothing in game but show me the options when i type /sgp.
when i type /sgp show it wont even let me hit enter
when i type /sgp settings it wont do any thing. any help here ?? please
also have 500+ members to change ranks on and this addon would be great but i am slowly doing it
Just putting up a new version (2.05.03) that will fix your issue.
Let us know if you have any troubles after you install that one.
