About TankadinTps

TankadinTps

TankadinTps is a threat-analyzer for tanks. It records all threat you generated during a fight, without encounter specific gimmicks like aggro resets etc. Your current sustained tps will be shown as a LibDataBroker data feed. TankadinTps also records your incoming damage and avoided attacks.

I developed this addon for my paladin, but other tanks in my guild wanted this tool too, so I added a warrior, druid and deathknight module.

Features

  • record your threat generating abilities for each mob
  • record your incoming damage, mitigated and avoided attacks
  • see your sustained tps live (as LibDataBroker data feed)
  • share your data with other players
  • supports bears, warriors, paladins and death knights

The threat on faerie fire(bear form) is very inaccurate. Not sure if it's the value or the level scaling of it. At 32 the addon says it generates 5k threat, a more realistic number(as from omen) would be somewhere around 1-1.2k.

    Hey,
I quitted WoW a few month ago, and as the new addon approaches, TankadinTps needs a new maintainer.

If you are interested in programming lua and some threat related theorycrafting, contact me on curseforge.

    Cheers!

Can it be used to determine threat breakdown for non-tanks also? We have a problem with resto-druid healer that generates enormous aggro and attracts adds on some encounters. So can this addon help with it?

  • #71

no, but heal aggro is [amount healed] * 0.5

I see someone has made the fix to make this work with 4.1. Are you making the change official?

As a rookie tank I want to find the right set of addons to get the job done but I don't want to start using an addon that is not going to have future support.

This is a great addon. Is it updated for 4.0.6 by any chance?
  • #60
Has something changed? I read only about dps nerfs, that don't affect threat calculation.
  • #61
It no longer works in 4.1. No errors or anything but nothing is recorded or displayed.

There have been some Combat-Log changes - already tried to just use latest Ace libraries, but that doesn´t seem to be enough for TankadinTPS to do its work again. The addon just won´t do any threat calculations at all.
  • #63
OK, found the problem. It´s really that one combatlog change that prevents TankadinTPS from working. After updating Ace libraries (one of which may also be haunted by the combatlog change if not updated), the error can be found in line 292 of TtpsCombatEvents.lua - just use the following line, that now also includes the new variable hideCaster for no reason so far:

    function TtpsCombatEvents:COMBAT_LOG_EVENT_UNFILTERED(_, timestamp, event, hideCaster, sourceGUID, sourceName, sourceFlags, destGUID, destName, destFlags, p1, p2, p3, s1, s2, s3, s4, s5, s6, s7, s8, s9)

Very well done! It actually works now. Is it possible for you to upload this working "fix"? Just out of curiosity how do you get the threat modifiers for abilities? For example warrior shield slam, death-knight heart-strike etc.

Is it possible to see if threat modifiers are "up to date" or not?

how do you get the threat modifiers for abilities?

    pre 3.0:
hit a mob i.e. 1 time with shield slam, let a friend attack the mob with small white-hits, until he pulls aggro. Sum up yours and your friends damage and try to fit the numbers into a formula like [your damage *x +c] * 1.10 = [friends damage].
Repeat, until x and c are solved.

    post 3.0:
get the current threat value per combat-log-event (TankadinTps can do this for you), put it in Excel/OpenOffice and try to find a solution for [your damage *x +c] = delta threat. Unfortunately WoW updates the threat value very slow, so you have multiple combat events in one update.

Is it possible to see if threat modifiers are "up to date" or not?

TankadinTps has a tool called "Threat-Lab" in the tools submenu. You can use it to get a csv-formatted combatlog with threatlevels or to compare the threat value from WoW with the computed value from TankadinTps. You will see the TankadinTps value growing with every attack and the WoW value growing in intervalls of a few seconds. Stop your attacks once in a while, and both values should (nearly) match.

I´m not a developer of this addon, so I can´t actually upload anything. Hope, Zappster is going to. :)

I think, there are two abilities with changed threat modifiers - Lacerate(Druid) and another one. Just don´t know if those changes came with Patch 4.1 or if they´re going to go live when Patch 4.2 arrives. If those two changes are live already, then TankadinTPS will show incorrect data for those abilities. But any other ability should still be fine so far. Those modifiers are stored within the TankadinTPS addon, for example inside 'TtpsDruid.lua'. Guess we´ll just have to find out the new numbers - or... well... the guys on ElitistJerks may have done that already. :)

hm .. seems like I have to release another version soon :)
I didn't play for a few months and fixed only the combat log issues
