About TimeOfDeath

This page is accurate for version: 2

Description

TimeOfDeath adds a small frame to your UI. This frame shows mob health in percent, accurate to 2 decimal places (allowing you to have exact health values enabled in the default UI too). It also shows current raid dps based on the last 6 seconds (this can be changed within the addon if you want). Finally, using the mob's health and current raid dps, it estimates how long until the mob will die.

The TOD frame will show

  • Target or focus health in percent
  • Current Raid DPS
  • Estimated time until your target/focus dies

The current options allow you to

  • Move the frame
  • Choose between showing target or focus
  • Lock the frame

Mouse controls

  • Left click and drag to move the frame (whilst unlocked)
  • Right click to change between target and focus (whilst unlocked)

Slash commands

  • /tod - Locks/unlocks the frame
  • Fixed error in DPS calculation
  • More accurate combat log filters
  • DPS doesnt hide on leaving combat

Can we expect any update on this addon? As of patch 4.1 it is broken :(

Sure. It's not very feature-rich atm as I just wanted to make a pretty quick addon that does what I needed.

I'll add more options (including yours you suggested) after I have finished updating my other addons for the new patch. I'm in the EU so I'm still waiting for servers to come up and haven't had a chance to download and try the PTR.

how do you determine "current raid dps"?
  • #2
The addon records damage done by raid members each 1.5 seconds, then to calculate the dps it totals the last 5 samples (7.5 seconds) and divides it by 7.5. The dps display updates every 3 seconds.

I'm not sure how accurate this is compared to other methods, it just seemed the most logical way of doing it. However, after reading your message I noticed I had made one small mistake in the code which I will fix and reupload (I divided by 5 instead of 5*1.5).

I'm also not sure if my combat log filters are good enough (for example, if it's counting friendly fire as damage done by the raid). I will check this and make appropriate changes before I upload the fixed version.

    Thanks :)

Version 2 uploaded (just waiting for it to be approved).

    I have:
    - Fixed the dps calculation error
    - Made the combat log filters more accurate
    - Stopped the DPS hiding when leaving combat
    - Changed the DPS average to 6 seconds instead of 7.5
