About TooltipItemIcon

Adds an icon to the reference tooltip (from clicking on an item link in chat) and the popup tooltips (when mousing over an item).

Icons can be displayed in a small frame to the side of the tooltip, in the top line of the tooltip, or used as a background for the tooltip.

Works for Items, Spells, Achievements and Currency.

Configuration:

TooltipItemIcon uses slash commands to change modes, to enable/disable certain tooltips, and to change the location of the icon frame around the tooltip. These are documented in the included commands.txt file, but here are some examples:

/ttii inside {switch to Inside mode}

/ttii background {switch to Background mode}

/ttii title {switch to Title mode}

/ttii frame {switch to Frame mode, the default}

/ttii gametooltip off {disables the icon for the popup tooltip}

/ttii compare off {disables the icon for all comparison-type tooltips}

/ttii gametooltip lefttop {moves the icon for the popup tooltip to the left side}

/ttii screen lefttop {'screen' applies the requested command to all tooltips currently visible on screen}

/ttii reset {reset all settings to the defaults}

Compatibility:

Should work with any language version of WoW; however the Slash commands are in English.

Compatible with LinkWrangler and some other Tooltip AddOns.

This is an update of TooltipItemIcon by Freddy @ curse.com. That project has since been archived (last update was Feb 2006).

    Awesome addon.

    Is there a way to put the icon on the left side of the tooltip for every tip include the items linked in chat? If I use the /ttii gametooltip lefttop command it puts it on the right location for the items in my bags but doesn't change for the item links.

    Idealy I'd like to only have the icon on the chat links (aka not when I mouseover an item in my bags) but with the icon on the outside in the top left corner.

    The tooltip for items linked in chat has a different name; use:
    /ttii itemreftooltip lefttop

    If you didn't know the tooltip's name, you could also use:
    /ttii screen lefttop
    (applies 'lefttop' location to all tooltips currently visible on your screen)

    However, the lefttop location clashes with the default Blizzard comparison tooltips when you shift-mouseover ItemRefTooltip (which is why I made it default to topleft instead).

    To turn the icon off for a tooltip:
    /ttii off

    Adds new mode: Title Mode
    This is like Inside Mode, but puts the icon in the top-left corner.
    The icon is actually incorporated into the tooltip's Title/Name bar. I think I've worked most of the bugs out, but (in theory) it could still cause incompatibility with other AddOns. Please report any oddities!

    Would it be possible to add a command to place the icon inside right top, next to the item name, since placing it inside left top conflicts with the close button on the tooltip.

    If the icon is clashing with the close button in inside mode then another AddOn must be overriding the columns in the tooltip, as the default Blizzard code will keep them separate. In particular, the old version of Auctioneer did this.

    It may be possible to include the icon in the item name, but I think doing that has potential for conflicts with other AddOns.

    I know the addon "Damn Tooltip Icons" can place the icon next to the item name without problems, but that addon only works for chat links and not when you hoover over an item with your mouse.

    That addon uses a different method to display the icon. TooltipItemIcon Inside mode actually changes the text in the tooltip; to move the icon to the other side it would have to change the name to "Name" - which could upset any addon trying to read the name from that location (possibly tooltip scanning addons or ones that change the appearance of the tooltip - this is what needs investigating).

    This is a beta version.

    Should fix an error where multiline text in GameTooltip sometimes gets truncated after displaying a large icon in Inside mode.
