About Warrior Proc Alert

Why another mod?

Warriors have many abilities that are only available when they have certain buffs or their target has certain debuffs. For instance Taste for Blood allows Arms warriors to use Overpower even when they have not dodged recently.

Some mods went a long way toward helping warriors see these procs. However these mods don't recognize all procs and are lacking in the Arms spec. This mod allows warriors to see a simple pop-up letting them know the most important proc currently available. No more carefully searching through the huge lists of buffs and debuffs hoping that you spot the procs in time.

Also, the easy to use "Check Box" options interface allows you to set your preferred mode without having to type in the name of the proc that needs to be monitored. This mod was created by a warrior, for warriors.

How do you use this mod?

The best way to set it up is to use the GUI options.
Toggle show the Option Window: /wproc options
Toggle enable Proc Alerts (only shows alerts configured through the options window): /wproc show
Toggle lock the Windows (including proc alert window): /wproc lock

Explanation of GUI options:

  • Show: The proc alert window will appear when selected and alert options are also selected.
  • Instance only: The proc alert window will only appear when the player is in an instance.
  • Show Spell Names: The proc will appear with the spell name as well as the spell icon.
  • Lock: Locks the options window and proc alert window in place when selected.
  • Shout Drop Down Menu
    • Commanding Shout: Commanding Shout alerts will display if Show is also selected*
    • Battle Shout: Battle Shout alerts will display if Show is also selected*
  • Profile Drop Down Menu
    • Arms: Default alerts set to Rend, Sudden Death, Taste for Blood, Mortal Strike, and Rage Dump
    • Fury: Default alerts set to Instant Slam and Rage Dump
    • Protection: Default alerts set to Sword and Board, Vigilance, and Rage Dump
  • Battle Trance: Alerts for the proc
  • Bloodsurge: Alerts for the proc
  • Bloodthirst: Alerts when ability can be used
  • Colossus Smash: Alerts when debuff is not on the target and ability can be used
  • Demoralizing Shout: Alerts when debuff is not on the target and ability can be used
  • Execute: Alerts when ability can be used
  • Hamstring: Alerts when debuff is not on the target and ability can be used
  • Incite: Alerts for the proc
  • Mortal Strike: Alerts when Mortal Strike ability can be used
  • Low HP: Alerts when you have low health
  • Overpower: Alerts when ability can be used
  • Rage: Alerts when your Rage is high
  • Raging Blow: Alerts when ability can be used
  • Rend: Alerts when debuff is not on the target and ability can be used
  • Revenge: Alerts when ability can be used
  • Shield Slam: Alerts when ability can be used
  • Shout: Alerts when you can use a shout and you have low rage
  • Sunder: Alerts when debuff not at maximum or if it will expire
  • Thunderstruck: Alerts when you have 3 stacks of Thunderstruck
  • Thunder Clap: Alerts when debuff is not on the target and ability can be used
  • Thunder Clap: Alerts when ability can be used
  • Victory Rush: Alerts when ability can be used

All alerts can be set to any profile. This means that you can modify the default protection profile to alert on arms type abilities. The profile name is nothing more than a name.

Version 1.3.1 Shout Alerts for Low Rage

In order to use this new proc you must set the shout drop down box to either battle shout or commanding shout.

Version 1.3.0 New Option to See the Spellname as well as the Proc Icon

Thats about it. Just a new checkbox that will dictate if the spellnames are displayed along with the icons...in case you forgot what the icon's mean :)

Version 1.2.9 Stability and no Bugs!

Just a bunch of bug fixes in this version. Enjoy!!! 1.2.9b2 includes using the spell icons for the alert instead of the text boxes. In the next version, there will be a check box to give the option to show the spell name as well as the icon in the alert.

Version 1.2.8 Battle Trance, Return of intellegent Buff/Debuff Alerts

You've requested it and here it is. Battle Trance will now be one of the alerts. I don't personally use it because it is only up for less than a global cool down (thats how often warriors should be using special abilities costing rage). Also the buff/debuffs will not alert if something already covers that buff/debuff. For instance Demoralizing Shout alert will not go off if Demoralizing Roar is already on the target.

Version 1.2.6 All Warrior Abilities Now Added

I can't imageine many other abilities that could be requested. The others are more situational...situations that are pretty obvious to the player, but not a mod! Keep the requests coming...coming up, sounds and pictures of the abilities instead of text boxes.

Being a warrior with almost 300 days played.  I am finding this add on VERY useful.  It does need some work still.  It would be a shame to see this mod discontinued.  I woudl be willing to keep this mod upto date if the author would work with me a bit.

    Some suggestions I have:

    - Show when recklessness and deathwish is available

Berserker rage if it is available and the warrior is not enraged

    hi

can you tell me the file path in which to put the downloaded file. So far the i have put it in

    Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\WarriorProcAlert

and the add on is not showing. I also failed to get the add on showing after being intalled thru the curse client.

    Many thx

Thanks for all the encouragement over the years!  Feel free to incorporate this addon into your own or take it over...I'm done.  It only took the threat of pandas to make me realize how silly this game has become.

Haven't downloaded it and tested it yet, but it seems like an awesome addon for warriors. One small suggestion would be to have a configurable minimum threshold for rage dump. In tank & spank fights (meaning higher flurry utilisation) and heavy raid damage fights, i do rage dump at 50. But in fights that involve lot of movement or target switching i do rage dump at about 70. It will also help players with lower gear level (less hit and haste) to configure this value to something like 80. Overall it looks like a good addon and cant wait to test it. Cheers

I'm starting to get alot of feedback from users wanting to specify relative priority of abilities/procs, specify when when rend or other debuffs should be refreshed, etc. It looks like I need a general interface to specify these. The trick is figuring out which numbers change most often.

Let me know if you have any suggestions. I'm always wanting to make it better.

Would also be nice if we could change the opacity of the proc.

    Keep up the good work.
  • #160
Agreed completely! I'll also look into making the alert pane click-thru.

I like this add-on. I have been looking for an add-on like this for a while. Any chance of getting the add-on to detect what stance you are in and only work for that profile? Also I cant seem to move the proc even with lock turned off.

    thx
  • #159
As far as the lock situation. Make sure that lock is turned off. Then use your right mouse button to drag the alert pane to the desired location.
  • #158
There is almost no chance of me adding a feature like that because it would force EVERYONE to use the configurations for stances. What if someone wants to use multiple configurations for a stance? What if someone stance dances and wants to keep the same setup?

I would be happy to help you solve the problem tho! Lets create a macro that will switch your stance and at the same time, call wproc to change your profile. So with one button it will switch both for you.
  • #161
That actually makes sense. What about having it change depending on what spec I am using? I run in prot most of the time but I switch to arms for solo/pvp/farming. It would be cool if it changed to my arms setting when I changed my spec to arms. I tried making a macro that would work but I didnt have any luck but im not the best at making complicated macros. Also, can you add a none option to the drop down for shouts? I set it to battle to try it out but I didnt like it and there was no way for me to reset it to none. keep up the great work and thanks for the fast response.
  • #163
Well, the good news is that the responses are fast, but changing things and uploading them is kinda slow. I'll go ahead and add your request to my list (there's only like 3 or 4 on there):)
  • #154
I have installed it with curse client and did it manually its in my addon screen when i start up wow and everything is checked but i don't see the options in the game or nothing notify's me for a proc. help please!!!! I have followed all the steps just don't see it in the game.
  • #157
Can you post your exact configuration on the option pane? Maybe take a screenshot. I think that you may have "Instance Only" checked. This option will only show procs while in an instance.

Also, you will only see procs (other than shouts) while in combat.

  • #151
Works great! Thank you very much for this addon.

Just wondering, are there any plans of adding the option of showing the ability icons?
