About WhoHas

WhoHas modifies every tooltip in the game to show which of your characters have the item in the tooltip, and where. This works in your inventory, at the auction house, on chat links, and even in trade skill windows. The tooltip will show how many of the item each of your characters have, and where - in their inventory, in the bank, equipped, or even in their inbox. This can be useful for managing your overall inventory, or for finding out who has the items you need for crafting.

WhoHas requires a separate addon to track all of your personal items. WhoHas currently supports:

WhoHas will auto-select the best backend to use based on the inventory addons you have enabled. It will search for addons in the order shown above. I may be able to add support for other inventory addons on request.

WhoHas supports English and is partially translated into German and French, thanks to the efforts of Pelion, and more recently, TorenAltair. If you would like to help finish the German and French translations, please let me know.

To prevent WhoHas from showing tooltips for specific items, enter "/whohas ignore ITEM NAME" in chat, where ITEM NAME is the item you don't want WhoHas tooltips for. You can also type "/whohas ignore " (make sure to include the space at the end) and then shift-click on the item you want to ignore to fill in its name.

  • Completely rewrote the Armory scanner. WhoHas should now support future versions of Armory better.

5.0.0 is out. It should show up here soon, but until then I think you can get it from the project site, or download it from GitHub.

I'm starting work on Altoholic support - awesome addon! - and I'll keep considering Bagnon/BagBrother. Both Altoholic and BagBrother are going to be a little tricky.

    Alternatives for underlying db

Very glad to see you're still here, Gruma! I also have loved Whohas, with Siz's Possessions as the db. Indeed, either Possessions 4.2.2 or "void storage" version from wowinterface seem to be working with whohas since 5.0.4. For a couple years I've also been using Altoholic, which is popular and great, especially cause it shows mail expirations, and the author is very responsive. Perhaps, in your "spare time", you could hook to Altoholic, and/or update Possessions properly? (I'm new to lua programming, but it looks pretty straightforward). Thanks in advance.

P.S. You deserve a donation. Can you put the button on your curse page?

Hi @handvprice, I forgot I had not replied to you yet.

I don't need donations, really. Just the thought is enough.

Certainly, I'll take a look at Altoholic this weekend. I can probably manage fixing up Possessions and republishing it too. I've toyed with the idea of taking over Possessions or something like it before, but I just know that I would neglect it after a while, and that's not fair to you guys.

I think I'll add BagBrother support in this weekend too. I like that one - it's tiny and does one job - it keeps track of your inventories. Unfortunately it only does inventories - it doesn't track mail or some of the other things that Armory (and Altoholic?) do. Still, it might be worthwhile for me to bundle in in case none of the alternatives are available.

  • #224

Interesting, I'll have to take a look at that. I'm not planning to take out support for the older inventory addons, ever, unless that code starts to cause problems somehow. That's not likely to happen since it doesn't interact with many WoW API functions.

I also just noticed that Bagnon now includes something called "BagBrother" that remembers your inventory. I'll have to look into that, too. It looks like it's ONLY an inventory store and no UI, which is a perfect match for WhoHas.

  • #223

Possessions is still working if you make a quick fix to the version that has void storage.

I am relly hoping that when you work on WhoHas you keep support for possessions. please :) I use them both ALL the time.

  • #222

Bagnon remembers your inventory like Armory does, at least across your bags, bank, guild vault, and void storage. It will also now update your tooltips similar to the way WhoHas does. But since it's really a bag replacement addon, you may or may not want to use it.

I really don't know of any other inventory-tracking addons, and as far as I know, Possessions and CharacterProfiler have both been dead projects for a few years. But I haven't really been looking for others.

If anybody finds a replacement for Armory, please let me know and I'll add support into WhoHas. But I'm really hoping that Warmexx can find the time to fix Armory sooner rather than later. Meanwhile I still have some updating I need to do in WhoHas...

I love this add-on along with Armory, however, the author for armory hasn't given an ETA on a 5.0.4 update. Doesn't anyone know of an alternative to WhoHas/Armory?

This is a useful mod, and it works fine in 4.2 live.  I can't get it to work at all on the 4.3 PTR, however.  I'm afraid it won't work when 4.3 goes live.  Would someone be kind enough to update it please?

  • #220

What sort of trouble are you having? I just tried out WhoHas on the PTR and it is working flawlessly for me. No doubt I need to update some of the ore data and the like, but I didn't see any bugs.

I was using the latest version of Armory - 9.10.0. What addon are you using for inventory?

If you can give me more details, I'll look into this some more.

This is one of WoW's more useful mods... would someone please be kind enough to update it for 4.3?  It works for me in 4.2 live but not at all on the PTR.  Frown

    Hi Aeryn,

I've been neglecting this thing way too long. I'll try to get it updated this weekend, if I can get on the PTR.

Not sure whether this is a Whohas error or an Armory error. I'm getting the following error spammed:

2x WhoHas-4.0.0b3\WhoHas_Armory_old.lua:163: attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'count' (a table value)
    WhoHas-4.0.0b3\WhoHas.lua:543: in function `UpdateCaches'

    WhoHas-4.0.0b3\WhoHas.lua:305: in function `OnShow'

Forgot to mention, of course, that I'm using both Whohas and Armory.
  • #215
Yep, that's a WhoHas error. Recent changes in Armory cause this to happen in certain places. I thought I had squashed all of the errors, but obviously I missed this one. I'll get it fixed up for you. (Thanks for the stack trace!)

Been trying to get this to work with Baggins. I tried your recommendation on putting in a line of code as recommended way back in November but that didn't seem to work. I'm not a coder so it's very possible I put it in the wrong place; there are a lot of "end" statements there. Either that or something was changed in the new version of Baggins and another solution is needed. If anyone knows how to get it to work let me know, if not well... :(
