About WhoWhisperedMe

Very basic addon that does a Who request on anyone that whispers you!

Slash command is /wwm

The addon remembers who whispers you and only does a /who on that person the first time! -- Also does not /who people in your guild or friends(As you probably already know the information about them) - You can toggle this behavior using the /wwm slash commands.

    I am getting the following error with the latest (1.4.5) version:

    1x WhoWhisperedMe-1.4.5\WhoWhisperedMe.lua:18: attempt to index global 'self' (a nil value)

    Locals:
    self = WhoWhisperedMe {
    0 =
    }

    ---

    On a side note, I was not getting this error with Urbin's patched version below.

    Woops.. Uploaded a working copy rather than the finished release. Should be fixed with 1.4.5-fix.

    Thanks for letting me know.

    Updated to fix the load errors!

    I've patched the addon and put it up on my page at http://www.ursbeeli.ch/m_addons.shtml. Not yet testet but at least it loads without error.

    I appreciate there being someone willing to take the time to fix the addon. I have been away from WoW for awhile and just recently had time to check up on these addons. Looks like due to a Blizzard change of "this" to "self", this addon failed to load.

    I have updated the addon and posted the new version here.

    Thanks for doing this. I have really missed this add-on but don't trust it to work after the recent patch.

    Seems to work fine with no errors.

    Thanks a lot Urbin.

    Any 4.0.1 update planned?

    Thank you.
  • #18
    Ah... this has been working through various patches so I figured it should still work with 4.0 even though it has been a long time since it was last updated... has the changes been so major that this is no longer the case?

    hi guys, would be nice with a sound when a friend in ID-W wisper me.
    :)

    Would be a good idea to add some code preventing it from /whoing someone that is in your raid.

    Nice addon idea, thanks!

    I think this addon doesn't work with BadBoys_Levels (addon for blocking whispers from level 1 (and above if you want) characters).
    I just installed BadBoys_Levels and WWM stopped showing the welcoming /who result in the chat :)
  • #13
    This appears to happen because of the way BadBoys_Levels does it's whoing. Rather than get a who returned to the chatframe, they opt to hide the /who window from the user, update it with the whisperer's info, get the data from it, then close the frame and re-enable the frame. Because of the way their addon works, rather than see the /who that WWM outputs, it is sent to the who frame instead. This causes WWM to appear to be broken when infact it is doing its job completely.. the output is just being sent elsewhere.

    Unfortunately, I do not have currently time to rewrite WWM to use this sort of method. However, it is definitely possible to fix this issue. Considering WWM is pretty much feature complete, I see no reason this won't be priority number one when I have the time.

    Thanks for the feedback!

    The version I downloaded over a year ago (04/15/08) has been working fine for me through all patches from then until now, including patch 3.1.1, but its nice to see the author still has an interest in this addon.
