About Wikky's Whistle Helper

Very simple addon that warns by text, sound and screen border flashing whenever Helpful Wikky appears.

Helpful Wikky is a NPC summoned by Helpful Wikky's Whistle. Wikky brings a Bag of Helpful Things after you kill 50 enemies.

The addon works with English, French, German, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish clients.

Credits to Akryn from Wowinterface.com for some of his code.

A button now displays when Wikky returns. Clicking this button will target and mark Wikky so you can find him more easily.

First I want to thank you for taking the time to make this addon.  But honestly, this addon would be so much better if you scrapped it and replaced it with a simple purple diamond over Wikky's head. All the other warnings you have are either annoying or ineffective. Out of the past 4 times I blew the whistle, I was able to get the loot once. Is there an addon out there that simply places a marker over Wikky's head?

You know what would be helpful? If your description stated the slash command used to get into the settings or turn the addon on or off.

There was a bug in the Saved Variables....fixed when i upped the version for the Escalation patch.

If you have the latest version, and you're kill counter isn't showing, please let me know.

Thanks for all the features. You've made a good addon great.
A counter would be a bonus, as the other person mentioned, but don't rush.

how come my kill count of 50 doesnt show up on my screen? what do i type/ to get this feature?

When Wikky comes back, a button now displays.

Clicking this button selects Wikky and marks him for ease of finding.

Anything else?  I can't think of anything else possibly needed.

    Hi,

If you are in combat when monkey arrives - addons are not allowed to create buttons/windows.

So your addon throws an error.

But you can create an event hook to display your button after character leaves combat.

You could look up how it is done in NPCScan.

    Nice one - thanks!

Love the button, is there a way to move it or is it just my UI?

By the way....great addon thank you very much for it.

lol...Looks lke people are getting on the bandwagon about marking Wikky when he comes out for the first or second time, but it is really needed most when he comes back the second time.

Hello, This is a repeat message, maybe you did not see it last time.......i really like this helpful addon, but one thing i am having trouble with wikky is finding him. When he comes back i have usually been fighting and there is usually a bunch of dust in the air or dead boddies all around me. Wikky is very small and his fur color helps him blend in with the surrounds. I would like it if he was marked maybe with an icon like we use to mark the bosses and adds in the game with. I think this would make it a lot easier to find him before he dies. Tyvm, DrKure of Misha

    More noticeable?  Like how?

It flashes your screen, plays a sound and puts in big red text that he's back.  Any suggestions on how I can make that 'more' noticeable, I'd be happy to consider.

Perhaps you could set him as the Focus target and set a raid marker over his head? That could be pretty awesome.

I was going to suggest setting him as the target, but that may interfere with combat (if he comes back while you are fighting a pack, for example). Having said that, if I was really pushing the suggestion boat out, I would say make it a confgurable option, but shipped by default to set as focus target and put a raid marker on him.

    Awesome addon though :)

I'd vote for putting a marker over his head too... preferably a blue or purple one, for those of us who are colorblind.
