I've always wondered why Worgen don't howl. I grew up watching horror movies like The Wolfman and Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman when howls were part and parcel of what it meant to be a werewolf. This tiny sound addon substitutes distinctive wolfen howls for the Worgen sniffs and snorts. Whether you're a Worgen yourself or just hang out with them from time to time I believe you'll find this interesting and amusing. It's one of my favorites.

To Install: Extract the "Data" folder contained in this zip file into your World of Warcraft folder. This will create a folder called "Sound" under (inside) the game's "Data" folder. When the game runs it will substitute any sounds it finds there for equivalent sounds in the game. (See screenshot images for illustration.) Do not use the Curse Client Auto-installer. It is a known problem that it does not handle sound mod addons properly.

To Uninstall: Rename or delete the "Sound" folder under (inside) your game's "Data" folder.

Notes on Installation: Zip/Unzip programs vary in how they work. The end result must be that a folder called "Sound" is created under (inside) your game's "Data" folder. Restart game after installation. (If your Unzip program is confusing you, try unzipping to your Desktop and then simply copying the "Sound" folder to your WoW "Data" folder.)

This mod was great! I had it on during the Darkmoon Faire and it completly changed the atmosphere of the place.

I was wondering if you could make a mod that makes Nagas quieter. Their hissing is really loud and annoys the heck outta me. I don't want to shut them up completly because battle noises keep me in the game, just quieter like you did for the gyrocopters.

Hi Rvbfangirl.  As you requested, I just uploaded an addon to Curse that takes the volume of Naga hisses down by 15 decibels.   Naga Quieter is the name of the addon and it deals with both male and female Naga.

It's 7:59 AM EDT (server time) on Wednesday, July 17.  All files are reviewed by Curse admins before being made available for download but they're pretty good about checking in frequently so the addon should be available within a couple of hours.  I hope you don't mind that in the description, I gave you credit for the request.

    Thank you!

In the Worgen starter zone, when you're together with all your compatriots, the chorus of howls from 20+ other Worgens standing all together in a cave is unbelieveably cool. This sound addon makes the whole starter area come alive.

I never thought about that situation.  I'll bet it's something else.  I may have to roll another Worgen just to get to hear it.

    2012-06-15 Update

There are three different howls that are executed by the "sniffs and snorts" routines of the Worgen. For this update, I added the howls of a wolf pack for one of those routines.

    Filename: WorgenHowls-2012-06-15.zip

    Enjoy!

I'm enjoying this sound addon more and more.  I was in Dalaran this morning fishing and a Worgen was fishing on the other side of the bridge.  The whole time I was there I was serenaded now and then with his spooky howls.

I was in Darkmoon Faire last night and the same thing happened.  I could hear a howl from nearby and now and then a couple of howls from up or down the fairway.  Very cool.

The latest update (2012-06-03) fine tunes the resonance of the sound files.  I think you will agree that it's an improvement and maybe a tad bit more eerie.

Don't use the "Install Via Curse Client" option.  Download the addon and manually unzip the "Data" folder into your World of Warcraft folder.  That's because this type of addon doesn't install in the "Addons" folder as many others do.

Well about a week in to this addon being available it's scoring higher than any of my others for downloads per day.  I know I sure enjoy it and apparently some others do too.

This is one of those addons that's "just for fun" but I don't find it unpleasant either.  In fact, it's kinda humorous to be in Stormwind with a howl coming from this way and that way from time to time.

I'd be interested in any feedback you may have.
