About WoWJapanizer

Successor project to CraftJapanizer since original author quit WoW.

WoWJapanizer provides Japanese-translated Quest, Item, Achievement and Spell ToolTips.

All the quests including Vanilla, tBC, WotLK, Cata and MoP will be displayed in Japanese.

  • Human-Translation

If there is human-translated entry in DB, WoWJapanizer overwrite machine-translated quest text and displays human-translated quest information. Otherwise, addon shows machine-translation.

  • Japanese font

Addon includes free IPA Japanese font to show Japanized text.

Skill, Talent, Glyph and Achievement are finished to translate. And most of the quests from Vanilla, tBC, WotLK and Cata is done by Japanese WoW fun voluntary.

Only MoP quests translation is still in progress day by day since there is too many quests in Pandaria, you know?

    I wanted to say thanks for this add-on. Helpful in more ways than you know. I lived in Japan for 8 years. After moving back to the U.S. a couple of years ago, my wife and I went through a lengthy immigration process so that she could come to the states. Very different situation here (in a semi-rural area), no trains, no easy to reach Japanese community, very different culture. This add-on has helped her, of all things, practice -English- in a virtual social context.  By having access to the Japanese translation, she doesn't get overwhlemed and can use WoW as a learning tool. It also helps her engage with an English-speaking community. Just looking at the statistics on Japanese expatriation, I imagine that we are not the only ones using this for functional intercultural and educational reasons. I can imagine that English speaking expatriots also use it in Japan, to engage with native Japanese there who are interested enough in either the game or the person (most likely the person) to get involved in this channel of social interaction. So, in case it hasn't been said before, what you're doing here is bigger than an add-on: You're facilitating intercultural relationships. Bravo!

    Thanks for the impressive comment, Van.

    3 years ago, I started to play WoW in Colorado to reach Japanese community since there is no community in CO and even very small asian population. So I can imagine how fun to communicate/learn English via WoW. (Now I'm in WA and go back to Japan next year.)

    Also, I know that moderate number of English speakers are playing WoW in Japan. They often play with Japanese guild to match time zone. This addon must help them. 

    I'm very glad to hear your comment. This sort of feedback would be a big reason why I develop this addon although I'm already able to use/speak both English and Japanese enough to play.

    Does it translate everything to the Japanese language or does it simply modify the text fonts into stylish and cool Japanese-ish letters?

    This addon translates lots of Quest message and Skill tool tips to Japanese. Also, it contains Japanese free font to display. 

    Some of messages are translated by volunteer human, some are machine translation. Thanks.
