About WOWScribe Chat Logger
WOWScribe 4.0.3
===============
WOWScribe is a small addon that allows you to log the chat channels of your
choice (including the numbered channels).
The chat is logged to "[WOW directory]/Logs/WoWChatLog.txt".
Features:
You can set any chat channel (Say, Guild, Raid, Whisper, Emote, RealID, General)
You can also log channels by number (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)
Installation:
If you already have a "[WOW directory]/Interface/Addons" directory, skip to Step 4.
If you have never installed an addon, you must create the Addons directory:
1. Go to your WoW installation directory.
2. If the folder "Interface" does not exist, create it.
3. In the folder "Interface", create the folder "Addons".
4. Move/Copy the WOWScribe directory to the "Addons" folder.
Usage:
======
/wowscribe
all by itself will give you the usage statement
/wowscribe start
starts the logging
/wowscribe stop
stops the logging
/wowscribe status
displays the current settings
/wowscribe add <channelname or number>
adds the channel to the list being logged.
using 'basic' as the channel will turn on guild, say, and emotes
/wowscribe remove <channelname or number>
removes the channel from the list being logged
using 'all' as the channel will turn all off
All commands and chat channel names are case insensitive.
Default channels logged are Guild, Say, and Emote.
Changes:
========
Updated for patch 4.0.3.
Added support for logging RealID whisper conversations.
Updated for patch 4.0.1.
Revised for Cataclysm by Trickster.
Updated for patch 3.3.0.
Added support for party leader channel (added by Trickster).
Added support for raid leader and raid warning channels.
Notes:
======
Guild, Party, and Raid add a string that looks like "|Hchannel:raid|h[Raid]|h" or "|Hchannel:guild|h[Guild]|h" to the chat log. This is a WOW thing, not something added by WOWScribe. I have tried filtering it it out, but since all WOWScribe does is turn logging off and on for specific channels, there is nothing I can do about this.

This is a wonderful addon. I wonder if it's still being worked on? It keeps throwing errors.
"Tiiara" has been added as an author on curseforge, so hopefully the errors will be resolved soon.
I am keenly disappointed that WoWScribe is no longer going to be maintained. It is throwing a lot of LUA errors and I may have to give up using it.
Does anyone know of a chat logger with the same functionality as WoWScribe? I need one that lets me select the channels I want logged, and automatically writes everything to a .txt file. Please.
Since it seems you're just as interested in keeping this project alive as I am, why don't you send me some of the errors you got when you tried to use it. Also, feel free to suggest new features while you're at it. I'll be updating the projet in the future once the request on curseforge gets approved of.
It is. I'll start working on in this week. Expect a release before the weekend :3
Huzzah, Tiiara! Thank you!
I added "Tiiara" as an author on curseforge. If that's not your login, please let me know ASAP. :)
I realize that you no longer play wow, so I hesitate to ask... but recently I have noticed that it is no longer logging emotes. Do you.. or perhaps any of the users of this addon, know a work around for this?
Hi. Please tell me that WOWScribe will be updated for Version 5! I love this addon.
I'm sorry, but I stopped playing WOW a few years ago, and I do not support WOWScribe anymore. I am glad that you have found it useful.
Thanks. I'm hoping that Trickster or someone else will update it.
This will sound utterly ridiculous, but this is my first time using the add-on.. how do you find what has been "scribed"? I looked in the add-on folder, but nothing readable (besdies the readme) is there.
The chat is logged to "[WOW directory]/Logs/WoWChatLog.txt";.
Is there any way to turn the crafting messages off?
12/23 21:58:15.438 Malfra creates Netherweave Bandage.
My logs get so spammed by that.
Thanks, either way! I love this addon so much. :)
Just to let people know, I stopped playing WOW around the time Icecrown came out. Trickster made some updates since then, but I do not actually maintain it anymore.
I am pleased that people still find it useful.
