WoWVid
WoWVid (WoW Video) allows the user to watch movies inside WoW while doing dailies or grinding.

How does it work
WoWVid creates a texture that when properly configured, allows media playing in the background to project inside WoW.
It is a pure lua addon, no executables.
You will however need an external player of your choice that is capable of playing video in Overlay mode.
Most popular media players (and several freeware ones) support this mode of operation.
Setup
- Start World of Warcraft.
- Once in the game press Esc to bring up the Game Menu.
- Select Video -> Graphics -> Display Settings -> "Windowed(FullScreen)"
Example configurations for 2 popular media players: (thanks to Garual for the write-up)
- start VLC
- click Tools
- Preferences
- go under Video
- make sure Accelerated video output is on
- for Output select DirectX(DirectDraw)
- start playback
- start WoW
- type /wv config and set WoWVid to R:0 G:0 B:1
- place WoWVid window over the VLC one.
- start KMPlayer
- press F2
- click on Video Processing
- select tab Renderer
- for Renderer choose Overlay mixer
- start playback
- start WoW
- set WoWVid to R:15 G:0 B:15
- place WoWVid window over the KMPlayer one

Would love to to know how to get this to work with adobe flash player so i can stream and play wow same time no dis Help me out .
its works as of 3/15/2013, just got to remember to put the player under the wow window to meet up with your overlay in wow. going to see how well i can watch subbed anime while playing lol. but pride and prejudice is fine all in all.
This used to work great around the time of AQ opening, and was simple to use. This needs updating and needs to be brought back.
I can't seem to get it to wwork. i'm doing exactly what you said. please help!!!!

So I understand well that it is simply projector? This VLC must be exactly the black square ? ^ ^

PS: Leftclicking the minimap-button should show/hide the wowvid frame while a rightclick opens options AND (un)locks the frame. This would be even more awesome!

How to watch YouTube Videos ingame:
1. Copy the URL, of the Video you want to watch.
2. Open VLC
3. Click Media
4. Go under Open Network Stream (Press Crtl + N)
5. Insert the URL
Don't know if this will work with KMPlayer, maybe someone could test it.
I have never posted before but I felt this addon doesent get the love it should. This is working as of 8/14/12 and I dont know how I ever lived without it. It's so nice to beable to watch a movie or show while farming or fishing ect, it makes it so less painful. I hope this is still being updated and I am very happy someone figured out how to do this. Also as posted before is there a way to use it with netflix? Thanks again for the great addon :o)
