About XLoot

Notes about new version and the major changes made

If you are experiencing more than one problem, please make sure you completely remove XLoot and download it fresh from here or the Curse Client.

After that, please create or comment on a existing ticket with your error(s)

All options are available via /xloot or Interface -> AddOns -> XLoot (/xlm toggles Monitor's anchors, /xlg toggles Group's)

About

XLoot is a small group of addons which improve looting in WoW by replacing default frames.

XLoot Frame
Replaces the Loot Frame, adding more information and behavior/appearance options.
XLoot Group
Replaces Group Loot frames, modifies Loot Alerts/Bonus Roll frame
Group frames display current roll choices, the rolled numbers, and the winner.
If you experience any problems rolling on items, please disable XLoot Group and post a report with any error.
I understand this may cause you to lose out on a item, which is extremely unfortunate.
However, I am unable to debug it myself as I no longer play, but welcome any errors or volunteer debugging efforts.
The rest of XLoot can be used safely without Group.
XLoot Monitor
Shows a "toaster" for looting items, similar to Guild Wars 2, allowing you to either more visibly see what you and others loot, or remove loot messages from your chat box all together.
XLoot Master
Provides a more convenient Master Looter menu

Any of these modules (Frame, Group, Monitor, Master) can be disabled like any other addon if you do not want their functionality.

Masque Skins

Not all Masque skins will work without adjustment.

Please see XLoot\skins.lua (Comments at the top) and then XLoot\SKIN_TWEAKS.lua (See examples and add tweak for skin here)

Old versions

I understand that these are large changes and may take adjustment. If you have suggestions as to how to improve the mod or something you want from the old version, please let me know.

    Uninstall "XLootMonitor", install from this page. It's now included as a (optional) module in XLoot, with unified options and a smaller footprint.

    I really like this addon and have used it for a long time, but I dislike the new change to the loot roll box. I do not like the small box off to the side. Is there any way to disable this option?

     This is excellent - Xloot has had some problems since the beginning of Mists so it's great to see it receiving some love once more - thank you for the efforts so far, it's looking really good and the direction is all positive for me.

     

    One feature I think is not in the update which I used on every boss is the menu that lets you link the loot in various channels. I'm Master Looter for most raids I'm in so the team is used to me doing the quick loot link that they then have a think about before I put each item up in turn for bidding.

    At the moment I am having (shock horror!) to manually link items from the loot window to the chat window. I'm sure you'll agree this is wholly unacceptable and I'll be lodging an appeal with the UN and NATO in due course to get this matter addressed.

    In the meantime however, respectful nod in your general direction for a great improvement to the all-modern libs and I look forward to seeing the future updates that I just know (hope!) are on the way.

    Turns out the "Link button visilbity" option was broken. It should be fixed now.

    Anyhow, as far as linking, it should be there. Is it not showing for you when you have "Link button visibility" set to "Group"?

    As far as future updates, they'll happen. It's just on "Soon"(tm)|Valve Time.

    how do i fix this to go back to the previous version exactly how it functioned and looked?  i've disabled a few of the modules but the look and feel of it is still bugging me :\  thanks

    This is how XLoot was always intended to look and feel. That said, you have a few options:

    1. Try a different ButtonFacade/Masque skin. Install the skin like normal, then pick it in XLoot options. Edit: If a masque skin has visual issues with XLoot, that can also be fixed, supposing you tell me about it.
    2. Use the old close button. It's a frame option which was requested a few times.
    3. Try to explain to me what you preferred about the old version and I might be able to do something about it.
    4. Use the last working version I linked at the bottom of the description until it stops working (It will not be supported, I've been trying to kill it for four years)

    There is a default path for the font, it is there when you hit "Defaults". It is, in fact, already Fritz Qadrata, or "Fonts\FRIZQT__.TTF" in terms of the path. 

    Edit: However, supposing you have installed an addon which changes the STANDARD_TEXT_FONT global, yours may show up differently. (Note "some random addon folder")

    In the case of that happening, the current behavior is still to be expected: If one installs a font addon that changes the global standard font, XLoot should obey it by default.

    I'm still having an issue with the font, though. z8 has a text field in the options where it lists the file location of a font (I think it was Calibiri, from some random addon folder). In my attempt to direct it to another font (WoW's default Friz Quadrata), I messed up the path, and the whole addon throws an exception because it cannot set the font. There is no default path or fallback font it seems. That's the only major issue I personally have with the latest version, is the file path being kind of difficult to use compared to a pulldown menu. I can make it a proper ticket if you prefer.

    Alright, so. "Old" picture, notice a few things:

    The outer border looks almost like the "Smooth" skin does now. Except the item borders look different. That's because I had trouble back then getting it to look right. In fact, that's why I opted to use textures (For the new one, and Masque textures) for borders instead of mangling frame borders to get that effect. 

    The one thing I can't replicate is the glow on the right side of each row, which is effectively the equivalent to the "highlight" now. I suppose I could add a option to color the highlight based off of the item quality.

    The font is the exact same, the positioning is slightly adjusted. More room inside the frame. This could be replicated by raising the scale of the frame and reducing the font size.

    The font color is easily changed, that's the major difference.

    The link button is to the left instead of right, that's not really worth mentioning as far as changes go. 

    That said I'm not trying to be rude, more explain. If you have adjustments you can point out specifically other than those I've covered, I'd welcome them.

    As far as the modules folder, it's empty. The modules are all unpacked into actual "addons". "XLoot" is the core, a small part of the functionality that used to be included in "XLoot" (old). "XLoot Frame" includes the rest. Enable those two and you're set. 

    Group Monitor and Frame can all be loaded or just one. Since I've split the options (including the options libraries) into a LoD addon, it should turn out even lighter than before. 

    Additionally, let me assure you. It /was/ broken. Even visually, though they or you may have been used to it, it was broken. Internally, it was horrid. It needed not only major tweaking, but a entire rewrite to get rid of the problems. 

    I really value input, especially reasonable and thorough, but there were a lot of misconceptions. 

     

    I hope you enjoy using it, and that I can make the changes somewhat less offensive to those who have grown attached to the warty version.

    Not the OP, but here's a quick comparison I made with z8 and the legacy version you linked. The legacy skin is close to the old version, but not quite there. Of note is the category text being grey instead of gold, it makes it rather hard to read. The Link button also appears to be floating in the middle left rather than anchored off to the side (perhaps just make it an icon similar to the close button). The font is changable I see, but now it looks like I need to find a long file path rather than select from a pulldown menu or something (also if font if left blank it does not default to anything it just errors out).
