About X-Perl UnitFrames

Bug Reporting

Please use the Ticketing System on WoWAce Here and avoid posting bugs using comments on Curse because they're difficult to track and they will probably get lost.

Use a good error catcher (like BugSack from files.wowace.com) and provide the full error text, and give as much information as possible to recreate the problem. Don't assume We know what you're talking about with some three word report.

Introduction

Perl, with Extra stuff. Much enchanced from Nymbia's Perl UnitFrames, and a complete replacement for Blizzard's default unit frames, including raid frames and raid tools, with little remaining of the original Nymbia code.

  • Range Finder (combined with optional health check and/or debuff check) for all frames based on spell or item range test.
  • HoT Monitor will highlight units clearly that have ''your own'' active Heal over Time spells. Regardless of how many other heal over time buffs are on the raid members, you can keep track of your own ones and when they expire.
  • Debuff Highlighting in standard debuff colours on all friendly frames. Priority given to show debuffs that ''you'' can cure first.
  • Raid Frames, buff icons, MT list units and some other portions or X-Perl are Created on demand. Saving a lot of time and memory at system startup. Defering the creation of many parts of X-Perl to when they are actually required. And of course, most often outside of raids they are never required and are never created.
  • Raid Target icon support for Target, Target's Target, MT Targets.
  • Raid Tooltip will show combat rezzers available (druids with Rebirth ready (or very soon available) and any normal rezzers out of combat) if you bring up tooltip of a dead person.
  • In-combat indicators for all units.
  • 3D Portraits for player, pet, target, focus, party. Optional. Of course this may degrade your framerate somewhat because you are displaying more 3D character models that without this option. But some like it pretty, and it does look cool.
  • Red and Green combat flashes for frames when player, pet, target, party, partypets, raid take damage/heals. Useful indication of things happening.
  • Added '''time left''' on party member/target buffs/debuffs when in a raid, these depend somewhat on CTRA sending appropriate information over the addon channel, although some of it can be determined at run time by X-Perl, when a player gets a buff for example, we know how long it should last, and therefor when it should expire.
  • Totally new options window including all X-Perl options and access via minimap icon and the /xperl splash command.
  • Configurable colours for borders and backgrounds. Including class coloured names, and configurable reaction colours.

Much care has been taken with code size, memory load, memory usage per cycle and so on. LuaProfiler/OnEvent mods used extensively and regularly to ensure that X-Perl does not do more work than is absolutely necessary.

Assists View

Will show anyone from raid assising you with your target, and can also show healers or all plus known enemies targetting you.

Tooltips for the same also available (on player and target frames) if you prefer to not use the main window.

MT Targets

Replaces CTRA MT Targets window, and doubles as a replacement for the Perl RaidFrames warrior targets.

Indicator shows which target you are on.

Frames will be coloured to show if tanks have duplicate targets.

Casting Monitor

(WORK IN PROGRESS)

Shows selected classes (defaults to healer classes) in a list (much like the MT List), but with some differences.

Shows mana bars and cast bars on left. Their targets on right. Health bar as normal, but a secondary small red bar on targets which shows the maximum single hit this unit has received since entering combat. The secondary bar will extend downwards from their current HP level down to as far as zero.

A green name on the targets indicates this is the same target that you have. You can click on casters or their targets as expected.

For druids, right clicking on a caster will cast Innervate on them.

For shamans, right clicking on a caster will cast Mana Tide Totem. Check the * indicator to see if they're in your group.

All bars can be re-sized in X-Perl main options (Monitor section).

Totals can be toggled (from the 'T' minibutton at top of frame) which gives overview of raid mana status.

Raid Admin

(WORK IN PROGRESS)

Save/Load raid roster setups Only does direct save and load for the moment, but more to come (templates and such).

Item Check

Replacement for /raitem /radur /raresist /rareg. Use the old commands before, or drop items in the left item list.

Query button will perform /raitem on all ticked items (query always includes dur and resists) and you can then view and review all the results whenever, without having to re-query each item.

Includes everyone in raid, so you don't have to work out who doesn't have items, it'll list them with 0 instead of no entry.

Active Scanner to check raid member's equipment for the item selected. So you can be sure that people actually have the item worn (Onyxia Cloak for example), without having to go round single target inspecting everyone who 'forgot' to install CTRA for the 50th raid in a row.

Grim Reaper

Removed from X-Perl, but continues as it's own standalone Ace mod.

Can be found in my new universal buffing mod, ZOMGBuffs

when we get magic debuffs etc, the player frame no longer lights up like it used to. is it gonna get fixed or not? if not i think i will have to find a new addon for Healing.

  • #7038

    Hello!

I Wonder why cant i disable party frames in raid? Cause i hate having both up when im in a 25 man raid. thanks

  • #7037

Thank you so much to the team of authors for your hard work! This is one of my favorite addons, inho the best looking and easiest to use of the unit frame addons. Patch time is never fun for any author due to the people who insist on complaining that a free addon built by a player (who likely has a day job) doesn't work properly. Kudos and again, thank you!

I updated x-perl from 3.5.5 to 3.5.10 and now the deathknight's player frame (only DK) is looking like this:

    http://img6.imagebanana.com/img/vcg7dg9x/xp.png

Character name was hidden bei Paint power, but all the grey colours are original in-game.

/Edit: Additionally, it causes many lags when loosing or gaining health/runic power, which is mostly in combat only. FPS goes to around 5-10 and its laggy until leaving combat.

My Deathknight's player frame looks the same, too. Seems like a DK issue.

Please provide the lua errors encountered.

Install buggrabber and bugsack if you dont have something else installed.

I don't play a shadow priest. I play a holy and discipline priest. Yet, after updating X-Perl for 5.0.4, my buffs under my player frame have been forced down about a full centimeter to make room for my non-existent shadow orbs resource bar.

    Example: http://i.imgur.com/6yeoo.jpg

Now, on my paladin, death knight, shaman, etc. I have the option in the X-Perl menu to remove this special bar if I so wish. I often do. This option is absent to my priest, however. I was wanting to bring it to your attention just in case you weren't aware of it. Not sure if it's intended to do that, but I would assume not. Driving me a little crazy.

If it's not intended, well, then there you go! Holy priests and discipline priests now have to deal with space between their player frame and their buffs that wasn't there before! How does one fix this or is this something you will have to change?

@ Kunami, Hi Kun! I have a solution for you if you are interested! :) I myself play a Disc Priest (85), Holy OS and the buffs not being aligned bugged me too but I was able to go into the .lua Player file and remove it!

If you'd like, go ahead and download my file and put this right inside your Addon folder and replace your XPerl_Player and voila!

Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?0v0xtkaahrnvexw (No worries, this is clean and will not hurt your game)

**For anyone else who plays a Priest (healing wise) and wishes for buffs to be aligned, download the fix above!

Preview on my Priest alt character to show proof:

Disc spec, working as intended: http://i.imgur.com/no8KG.png

Shadow spec WITHOUT Shadow bar: http://i.imgur.com/0wXNw.png

Note, this will NOT show the Shadow Orb bar, it just aligns the buffs. Mainly for HEALING spec only until X-Perl updates their "Fix special bar options"

    Smile

Thanks a bunch, Blush! Was driving me crazy and I was wondering if anyone else had gone to the effort of finding a fix. I'll be swapping these files out right away. Thanks again! :3

I'm having issues with the 3D portraits for only target and party. It shows the whole body outside of the box, Yet I downloded the addon on my laptop and it works fine, and settings were the same. I heard people saying the issue was Blizzard, But GMs say it's X-Perl creators so I'm kind of confused, Since it works on my laptop but not computer with same settings. Is there any way in fixing this,  Without having to turn off 3D portraits.

  • #7044

    @CindyTheGoldfish

I likewise have the 3D portrait issue (for party memebers, target, focus target, and pet frame) as well. I am using DX9 if that matters.

Something to make it less annoying, until it is fixed, you can turn off the portrait frames for both your target and the party members. Go to the target tab and uncheck the "target portrait" (first option in the left column of items). The "party portraits" is under the party tab second option down in the left column of items.

    It's a blizzard bug http://www.wowace.com/addons/xperl/tickets/1388-strange-3d-portrait/

  • #7032

@ Asixandur & CindyTheGoldfish, it definitely is a Blizzard issue and I keep bugging Blizz about it and they refuse to admit it's on their end. They are saying the author's of the "addons" need to update their work which is complete BS because besides X-Perl, LUI AND other Unit Frame addons who use the 3D option experience it too!

A few people I've talked to say X-Perl 3D works just fine if you use DX11 but others I've talked to who use DX11 are saying it's broken for them so who knows what to do.

I myself use DX9, I just hope Blizz can fix it or somehow X-Perl author's can come up with a fix. =/

Xperl still says joining raid group when people joins your non raid party

  • #7039

Not xperl saying that, don't know why you think it is....Its a blizzard thing...
