About X-Perl UnitFrames

Bug Reporting

Please use the Ticketing System on WoWAce Here and avoid posting bugs using comments on Curse because they're difficult to track and they will probably get lost.

Use a good error catcher (like BugSack from files.wowace.com) and provide the full error text, and give as much information as possible to recreate the problem. Don't assume We know what you're talking about with some three word report.

Introduction

Perl, with Extra stuff. Much enchanced from Nymbia's Perl UnitFrames, and a complete replacement for Blizzard's default unit frames, including raid frames and raid tools, with little remaining of the original Nymbia code.

  • Range Finder (combined with optional health check and/or debuff check) for all frames based on spell or item range test.
  • HoT Monitor will highlight units clearly that have ''your own'' active Heal over Time spells. Regardless of how many other heal over time buffs are on the raid members, you can keep track of your own ones and when they expire.
  • Debuff Highlighting in standard debuff colours on all friendly frames. Priority given to show debuffs that ''you'' can cure first.
  • Raid Frames, buff icons, MT list units and some other portions or X-Perl are Created on demand. Saving a lot of time and memory at system startup. Defering the creation of many parts of X-Perl to when they are actually required. And of course, most often outside of raids they are never required and are never created.
  • Raid Target icon support for Target, Target's Target, MT Targets.
  • Raid Tooltip will show combat rezzers available (druids with Rebirth ready (or very soon available) and any normal rezzers out of combat) if you bring up tooltip of a dead person.
  • In-combat indicators for all units.
  • 3D Portraits for player, pet, target, focus, party. Optional. Of course this may degrade your framerate somewhat because you are displaying more 3D character models that without this option. But some like it pretty, and it does look cool.
  • Red and Green combat flashes for frames when player, pet, target, party, partypets, raid take damage/heals. Useful indication of things happening.
  • Added '''time left''' on party member/target buffs/debuffs when in a raid, these depend somewhat on CTRA sending appropriate information over the addon channel, although some of it can be determined at run time by X-Perl, when a player gets a buff for example, we know how long it should last, and therefor when it should expire.
  • Totally new options window including all X-Perl options and access via minimap icon and the /xperl splash command.
  • Configurable colours for borders and backgrounds. Including class coloured names, and configurable reaction colours.

Much care has been taken with code size, memory load, memory usage per cycle and so on. LuaProfiler/OnEvent mods used extensively and regularly to ensure that X-Perl does not do more work than is absolutely necessary.

Assists View

Will show anyone from raid assising you with your target, and can also show healers or all plus known enemies targetting you.

Tooltips for the same also available (on player and target frames) if you prefer to not use the main window.

MT Targets

Replaces CTRA MT Targets window, and doubles as a replacement for the Perl RaidFrames warrior targets.

Indicator shows which target you are on.

Frames will be coloured to show if tanks have duplicate targets.

Casting Monitor

(WORK IN PROGRESS)

Shows selected classes (defaults to healer classes) in a list (much like the MT List), but with some differences.

Shows mana bars and cast bars on left. Their targets on right. Health bar as normal, but a secondary small red bar on targets which shows the maximum single hit this unit has received since entering combat. The secondary bar will extend downwards from their current HP level down to as far as zero.

A green name on the targets indicates this is the same target that you have. You can click on casters or their targets as expected.

For druids, right clicking on a caster will cast Innervate on them.

For shamans, right clicking on a caster will cast Mana Tide Totem. Check the * indicator to see if they're in your group.

All bars can be re-sized in X-Perl main options (Monitor section).

Totals can be toggled (from the 'T' minibutton at top of frame) which gives overview of raid mana status.

Raid Admin

(WORK IN PROGRESS)

Save/Load raid roster setups Only does direct save and load for the moment, but more to come (templates and such).

Item Check

Replacement for /raitem /radur /raresist /rareg. Use the old commands before, or drop items in the left item list.

Query button will perform /raitem on all ticked items (query always includes dur and resists) and you can then view and review all the results whenever, without having to re-query each item.

Includes everyone in raid, so you don't have to work out who doesn't have items, it'll list them with 0 instead of no entry.

Active Scanner to check raid member's equipment for the item selected. So you can be sure that people actually have the item worn (Onyxia Cloak for example), without having to go round single target inspecting everyone who 'forgot' to install CTRA for the 50th raid in a row.

Grim Reaper

Removed from X-Perl, but continues as it's own standalone Ace mod.

More Buffing Features

Can be found in my new universal buffing mod, ZOMGBuffs

Besides the current bugs people are reporting about and myself included, I was wondering what is up with the Druid and Shadow Priest buffs?

Only on these characters do their buffs NOT align. They used to align at least on my Druid, it was fine but now they don't, even in bear/cat form.

    Shadow Priest: http://i.imgur.com/Wk5X5.png

So I was wondering is this a bug or can I somehow get some help to edit the .lua to change it or disable those "special" bars completely? I've looked in General and Player but I don't see it at all?

Any help would be appreciated. Smile

Edit: Well I was able to fix my Priest's special bar/Shadow Orb bar but as for my Druid, it's being a pain in the butt, seems like it shares the "rune" bar almost from a DK...I just want my damn buffs to align.

The bug was that the buffs would go underneath the power frame. The code has been standarized so buffs are underneath the power frame. Detection for turing off the power frames and making them all moveable still needs to be done.

If you don't like this new method you have 2 options:

    Disable x-perl buffs(which I do anyway)

Use a different buff tracking addon.

@ Tharai, you know? I was able to fix it, for my characters, I fiddled in the X-Perl(Player) .lua and now my Druid has buffs above her Eclipse bar now (which is what I love). :)

I basically downloaded older versions of X-Perl when the buffs did work and copied/pasted some things and voila, seems to work fine for me now. Although I am no coder type 'gal, at least I got it to work.

v3.5.5 r694 - Having issues with the Pet Frame not always updating, showing the pet as dead despite being revived, bar values not always updating, and sometimes the bars are just solid green / blue (instead of orange focus) without any values.

Hi there since the most recent Update ive been having issues with my frames when someone dies or my Hunter pet dies and its been revived it still continues  to say that its dead sometimes when i log in and summon my pet it says its dead and does that for people when im trying to heal them so i cant actually see there health bar cause it just says dead lol any fix for this?

  • #7000

The issue I am having that when I am in a raid/bg the raid frame comes up and the party frame also come up. I have to uncheck "show party in raid" but then If i am in a party they dont show up until I re check "show party in raid". I've never had this issue before while using x-perl. What is the possible solution. Thanks

    Following problems:

    1) I cannot interact with any unit frame by right-clicking it at all. Not even a drop down menu appearing after right-clicking.

     2) The 3D Model of my Target unit frame doesn't work properly. It exceed the edges of the portrait-frame so I have the ENTIRE 3D model of my target and not only the head. Same with my pet's 3D portrait. (I use Direct X 11)

    3) After my pet died once in a battleground, it always appears as dead, even if I already revived it.

    4) My pet is considered as a mana-class. So there is mana instead of focus shown in the energy bar.

    5) (since last update): My Pets health and focus values aren't shown. So the bars are just green and blue respectively, without any number on or any percentage next to it.

    6) Raid and party members aren'T shown at all.

    I am using Win 7 x64 with DirectX 11.

@ Nonplusultra, having the same problems as you and for #2, it's a Blizzard issue at this point, most Unit Frame addons right now are having the same 3D problem. :( Whether you are on DX9 or DX11. Hope Blizz fixes it.

so here is my current problem with this addon, on my main (hunter) i am lagging ALOT, droping down to 1fps, and when im on my druid (using the same addons and settings evrything is fine, not a single sign to lagg, rly hope this can be fixed

edit: somehow evrything just went normal after i turned my "prat" addon into high CPU use, dont kno why that did fix it but it did :s

Since the most recent update, I've been finding that the various resource bars (HP, mana, runic power, etc) of any unit frame isn't updating properly. A target's health will visually be at 50%, while the values next to it display it at 3% (or dead); Runic Power will show a full bar but only have 5 RP; Similar with Mana. This issue wasn't just with the player frame, but with enemies, npcs, and other party members.

I have WIndows 7, DirectX 11 and even did the link down below for the raid helper piece, and i am still getting this error.

    Debuff Issue

I recently started having a problem where the blue magic debuff indicator and the green poison indicator aren't showing up. I only have the purple curse and brown disease - only curable debuffs is unchecked. Anyone else having this problem?

    Resource bar movement?

Is there a way to move my Soul Shards to the top of my frame? I'm assuming this will be the spot that shows all resources like Runes, Holy Power, etc. I see an option in the menu to 'Dock runes bar to player frame' but they aren't moveable with it checked on or off.

I oriente my frames at the bottom of my screen and either the resource bar will be clipping into my action bars or I'll have to raise the frame off the bottom about 1/2".

    Thanks for any help.
