About Yata

Yata - Yet Another Totem Addon

Yata is the answer to all your totem (and weapon imbue) needs

What is Yata?

Yata is a hugely flexible totem bar addon, enabling your shaman to organise their totems, cast them (individually, through the multicast spells or by /castsequence macro) and track cooldowns and timers.

Yata was originally created by Tornhoof and was one of the pioneers of totem bar support during The Burning Crusade. It has been brought up to date in Wrath of the Lich King by kaytikat.

Features

Bars

  • Horizontal or vertical layout (with the ability to choose which side the pop-outs go)
  • Customisable order or groups and individual totems
  • Ability to hide useless or unused totems
  • Fully skinnable with ButtonFacade
  • Scale and position configurable
  • User-configured number of rows permanently visible
  • Button indicators showing which spells belong to which multicast spell
  • Short tooltip support
  • Key bind a spell group (e.g. a single key that will cast whichever fire totem is currently selected)

Spell Management

  • Key modifier to reorder totems (default: ctrl left click)
  • Key modifier to drop a totem without reordering (default: shift left click)
  • Key modifier to set/clear a totem as part of a multicast spell group (default: alt left click)
  • Cooldowns and timers shown on the button or on separate bars
  • Destroy Totem or Totemic Call (right click and shift right click, respectively)

Sorry for not updating for 4.3

I stopped playing WoW months ago and no longer have access to an account so there will be no more updates for yata.

Anyone with wow coding experience that wants to take the project on should contact me on wowace.

    4.3 Update ?

Is there a chance this addon gets updated to work with Patch 4.3?

I really like and used this addon a lot, and your work with this addon is highly appreciated! :)

Sadly, YATA has not been working in 4.3 for me.  I get all kinds of .lua errors, I can't unlock or move the bars (I can manually change the X and Y posiitons, but I only see it move if I reload the entire UI), and totem timer bars aren't working at all.

I've tried everything:  disabling all addons except for YATA, deleting all YATA directories and files and then reinstalling it from scratch... nothing seems to work.

I love this addon and have used it since TBC - your work on it is so appreciated.  I'm just really hoping you can help me get it working again soon.

A sample portion of the error message:

Recently, Yata's been acting rather fishy. I'm not sure if it's an intollerance to any of my other addons or what, but the behavior is none the less annoying.

When I respec, Yata bugs. The frame stays where it is, (I have mine located above my actionbars to the lower right of the screen.) but the icons for half the buttons switch to the lower right side of the screen, at x4 scale. The icons are non-interactive and the addon works as it should normally, beyond the moved icons, which in the frame have become invisible but still interactable.

It seems to be picking up the habbit when doing any sort of craftable proffession.

Usually, a /reload fixes the issue, but still annoying.

Thank you so much for this addon. One of my favorite! :)

Hi Yata! Love the addon my good friend. But may I ask, why there is NO Totemic Recall option? Please add it or explain to me why you removed it. - Tyvm, fellow troll resto sham. :)
  • #263
OK, seeing as you're not the first to ask this...

If you're a clicker you can shift-right click on any button to totemic recall (or just right click on a totem to destroy an individual totem).

If you're a key-binder you can just go into the standard blizzard Keybinding UI and bind to the Totemic Recall option provided by the default blizzard totem interface.

I just don't see any value in a button that you'll never press and never displays any information (as the spell has no cooldown).

Is there a third use-case that I've missed that needs a button?
  • #260
I have one problem that is preventing me from using this addon (which could become my new fav totem addon :D love the way it looks/works) I see an option to auto switch the active totems 'button' to the front ( I assume this is the bottom bar), but I cannot get this feature to work correctly.

To be clear, I want to show it to show my original 4 totems for my Call of elements, but when I single drop grounding totem, I want the button to show grounding and not wrath of air anymore.
  • #261
The option you're looking for is on the Behaviour tab and is called "Auto swap buttons". With this ticked casting a totem (by either clicking on the button on the Yata bar or using a keybind on the Yata button) will cause it to move to the front.

If you have "Auto swap call spells" ticked then casting a call spell will bring every totem that was just cast to the front.
  • #258
What about displaying the totem uptime _as digits_ on totem icons?
  • #259
Yata uses the standard Blizzard method of displaying a cooldown for the on-button timers. Like every other frame using this method: if you want to see a numeric version you should install OmniCC or similar.
