About Zelda loot

ZeldaLoot Extended

Based on ZeldaLoot from Rickyk (abandoned now), a friend and I have decided to upgrade this addon we love in order to work with WoW patch 3.2 and other languages than english (see below). By the way, we decided to include new and high quality sounds, multiple language support, and even a graphical interface to tweak everything at your taste ! It will play zelda sounds when you loot a higher than common quality item, may be useful after rand sessions to know if you have won or just as a sound enhancement.

New features summary

  • Sounds

4 new sounds for different item qualities, from not common (green) to legendary (orange). Note inherited objects (linked to account) can play sound when received too (same as for legandaries items). Sounds provided by: Darth Killer, from Zelda Ocarina of Time (original from games), and Chrisgess, from Zelda Ocarina of Time Orchestrated album (www.zreomusic.com), even higher sound quality !

  • Interface

New graphical interface: configure which sound you want and when: loot from enemies, received (letterbox, seller, etc), crafted (professions and some special items like Eternal Water). Settings will be saved between sessions for all your characters. Head to Interface -> AddOns menu for some nice tweaks.

  • Localization

English, french, spanish and deutch languages are supported, and you can write your own, see files in \Locale subdirectory

Massive code cleanup. Quite one third less of code !

Loot events are now locale-independant.
Currencies analysis routines fixed and improved.
Conquest points fixed, was misidentified as a PvE currency.
Basic archaeology support. Will sound when you find fragments.

Make sounds ring e.g. once for a similar item, once per minute, etc to avoid some sort of auditive spam.

Sounds moved to \Sounds\Sets subdirectory. You may want to delete \*.wav old sound files in order to get back some disk space.
UTF-8 special characters fix for Spanish (I hope it still works).

    LUA Errors. Please Update!!

    I've been looking for an addon that does this for a long time and now it's abandoned!  I get LUA errors like crazy.  If you come back to the game, can you please update?

    Does anyone know of a similar addon?

    Blizzard surely ONCE AGAIN changed function names and other nasty things. I really wonder what's the use except bother us all. Last time they just swapped parameters. Wow, this really IS brillant.

    I don't really keep my mind "updated" since 4.2 but they have many other things more important to fix. You surely know what.

    Maybe I'll visit Azeroth a last time, but I think it is really time to pass the keys for this addon.

     

    And well, I don't ever know some kind of another similar addon...

    It's a bit late -shame on me- and not without some regrets I announce you I left WoW a few weeks ago. My account is still up until feb. 2012, but I don't really want to come back.

    Well, I won't invoke the ultra-classic "personnal reasons", but this game is going down in flames -litterally !-, worse and worse. And those Kung Fu Panda III new playable class let me as cold as a stone in Antarctica.

    I don't know yet what I'll do about the status of this addon, as it is the only really active I have, or precisely, took back =)

    - It doesn't use Ace3 (never understood this thing).
    - It doesn't bite strangers.
    - It won't force you to buy aspirin by thousands while you're reading the code.

    It is under a GPL license so you know you can do or not (Refer to: http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html ), feel free to upgrade if you leave mention of previous authors, including myself.

    Don't know yet if i'll look for a new maintainer of if I pass it into public domain...
    I just hope some here or there will keep it alive, I saw many joyful comments here.

    pls do an option do avoid playing sounds if you will loot enchanting mats :) would be really fine

    Will be included within a sort of "black list" feature if so.

    By the way BoA heirlooms are now white, both functionnalities are quite the same. I think I'll do both at once :p

    Great mod! Just have one suggestion though. This mods volume needs to be set to whatever your WoW volume is, or even better a volume control for the mod.

    This is such an awesome add on, every time i get a green i get this huge smile across my face lol. I liked the archaeology sounds, but they seem a bit out of place, like I think it would be better if the sound played when the fragments appear, rather than looting them. Other than that, everything is just epic LOVE IT.

    Ouch, What you're speaking about is clearly impossible as far as I know, even with some creature-finding techniques like the ones used in NPCScan and others.

    Yes, this is planned. First because the now-famous "master" volume seem to be always set at 100%...

    Oh damn! its impossible? I had no idea o.o I thought it would be since archaeology has them in certain locations and the surveying equipment is used as a "getting warming" technique. But on the flip side, I know Nothing about making add ons for WoW XD

    hey i just love this addon but is it possible for you to add the mastersword theme from Twilight Princess i feel that one is more fit for the legendary than the ones avaible

    I chuckled when I heard the archaeology sound. It renews a question I've wondered for a while: that is if you could add the warp whistle sound for hearthing, teleporting, portaling, etc.

    Basically this addon is only for collected objects.
    I don't plan to include these sounds for now.

    The recent update seems to have introduced a bug. Previously this addon would be silent if sound was disabled, but now it plays anyway. Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to disable the new sound for entering a dungeon.
