Curse.com's Auroralyn's Resolution:
My resolution? I actually have a few things I'd love to accomplish in 2013.
For one, I'd like to get a Sunrise in Guild Wars 2, or if I'm really ambitious an Eternity. I mean, come on - they paint the sky when you swing them! Someday, at least the former will be mine.
I also will set aside as much extra money as I can per month to purchase toys and video games for our local Children's Hospital, and volunteer my time there as well. The Child's Play site has maps, information, and links to wishlists for your local participating hospital if you'd also like to spread the joy of gaming to sick kids in your area.
And of course my most important goal, the one that will be my main focus throughout the year, is to become the Supreme Overlord of Curse. They'll never see it coming because like my WoW Rogue, I am stealthy as the day is long.
FPSGeneral's NateRios' Resolution:
My New Year’s Resolution for 2013 is to hone my first-person shooter (FPS) skills when using a gamepad, such as the Xbox 360 controller or Wii U GamePad. FIrst off, I am not a PC elitist by any stretch; I grew up on console gaming and am currently the proud owner of a Nintendo Wii U, an Xbox 360 and a PlayStation 3. But I can’t shake the fact that I am downright horrible when it comes to playing first-person shooters on anything other than a good old fashioned mouse and keyboard.
It’s something about the joysticks, I think. I can move from A to B with little to no trouble, but as soon as I encounter an enemy - whether it’s an NPC or another player online - all of my ability and common sense goes out the window and I end up flailing around like a kitten with a ball of yarn.
I can only imagine how embarassing my killcams are for other players to watch, arms waving like a fish on the dock. Cringeworthy, to say the least.
In 2013, I hope to divide my time between consoles and PC to help myself get used to the controller again. There was a time where I was very comfortable with a console controller in my hand but those days are a distant memory now. When I devote most of my time to PC gaming, I tend to lose my comfort with a controller. Ever since I picked up a Wii U last year, I have been spending more time on the couch when I game, so hopefully I can regain that lost confidence and step up my performance in 2013!
