We've recently launched a website dedicated to Star Wars: The Old Republic -- the joint MMO project in development by Lucas Arts and BioWare -- at http://www.swtor-online.com/

Even though the game was very recently announced, Our Swtor site is already chock full of info on the timeline the game takes place in, as well as the Star Wars and Old Republic universes in general.

In our first major article, we go in depth to explain Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Star Wars: The Old Republic is the latest MMORPG created by BioWare and LucasArts. A “massive multiplayer online role playing game” is simply a game where many players interact with each other in a virtual world online. The game was announced on October 21, 2008 at an exclusive press-only event. You may be wondering just how SWTOR (commonly used acronym for the game) fits into the timeline of the original Star Wars series. The game’s events occur just over 3,500 years before the movie series, which is dominated by Darth Vader. If you are familiar with the previously released game “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” the new SWTOR game is set 300 years after the events of that game. As a player you can choose to affiliate yourself with either the Galactic Republic or Sith Empire, but depending on decisions you make in missions, your belonging may shift either to the dark or light side of the force.
