Curse Client 3.0.0.4 (Windows) Update Notes

Hi all,

This weekend we released Curse Client version 3.0.0.4 for Windows, and I wanted to post notes on what changed to keep communication flowing on the progress with the client.

We've taken all of the recent feedback into consideration and are working -- not only on the client side of things, but also on the website side -- to ensure that the client and all of its features only get better moving forward.

Curse Client 3.0.0.4 (Windows) Update Notes

  • Addons are no longer flagged with the "This addon appears to have been modified" icon, when files are edited by WowMatrix.
  • When WoW or WAR are running, the client will no longer attempt to update itself, even if the game is running in windowed mode.
  • The Curse Profiler addon installation behavior has changed. This behavior is also implemented in the latest Mac Curse Client build.
    • It is now a prompt display when running the installer, which users must then opt into, rather than the old functionality of needing to opt out.
    • If the user changes the "By default, automatically install the Curse Profiler..." option, the client will prompt them asking if they wish to enable/disable the behavior for all games.
  • The "Curse Premium Preview" message will no longer appear for first time users.
  • An advertisement will now appear for non-Premium flagged accounts, to the right of the "Show Info" box.  These ads are delivered directly by Curse.com, rather than through ad networks.

If you already have the client installed, it should have updated automatically. If you would like to start out fresh with version 3.0.0.4, you can download the client from the above link.

    Addons disabled after update -

    We have the Curse client on two different computers, and each is having the same problem:  After an addon is updated, that addon is disabled and isn't even noticed by the WoW client.  Only way to get the addon back is by uninstalling and doing a manual install.

    We have WoW in a public shared Games folder - could that be an issue?

    @DarkOman:

    1 problem with Warhammer is the erratic behavior when loging out.  /camp, /logout, the button logout, /quit and the quit button, /exit and /reloadui and all other mean to get outside the game react differently.  They also change from patch to patch.

    Basicaly, getting out of the game trigger different event with different variable state.  the same event using a different method can trigger with or without data still available.  I had alot of problem when I coded CharactersViewer for War.  CurseProfiler probably face similar issue.  (

    Also as a quick note (adding it to the article as well), the Mac client's most recent update implemented the prompt for installing the Curse Profiler as well.
