Thankyou for posting that article dhew, it was very informative. At first I was aghast at a number like 190k gold but if the conversion is only $700 I believe that is reasonable. Good for the guy.

Personally I think hes crazy for giving it to his *girlfriend*, why not keep it for himself!!! :P What if they break up....

Blizzard needs to remove the mount and ban that player. Romantic or not they broke the TOS openingly

I have seen Ashes of Al'ar 2 times on EU Server (Dunemaul), they said it droped from Kael'thas (think ^-^ Dont remember so well) and that they we're the lucky rollers ^-^. So why is this such big news? Is it cause he bougth the mount for a buttload of gold? xP

rudeness is weak. these two different accounts of the phoenix mount...it's interesting, but it is not cause to say ugly things. i am happy for both recipients that they got their mounts. the chinese account sounds like buying gold from a gold seller, but i wasn't there i can't say. and just because lots of people do it...you're still running the risk of banishment. i'm not judging them, i'm just saying that's the facts. as for the case where the recipient is terminally ill...folks, why shouldn't blizz do something like that? someone who truly loves the game and is not going to be around much longer?? come on, now. i'm still going to slog my way to mount hyjal and black temple anyway, and count myself lucky i'm still relatively healthy. i'm just happy his guild was at that end of the progression, so they could take that young man, with blizz's help, through to the end.

From World of Raids (Source for the article):

"Additional info:
This phoenix mount is the Christmas present given by a male player to his girlfriend. They are both very good players of the guild they belong to. The guild they belong to had made the decision before they enter the T5 layer instance, that this mount will be acquire for gold. Those gold will be spend on the guild's further raid for T6 layer. "

Lets steal that account info and delete the mount only.. and sell the gold he still has for real money and give it to charity :)

But... That wouldn't be too nice. Really, what am I saying?

I am a WOW player from China. Here is some additional information about this Phoenix Mount.
At first, 190,000 gold at Molten Core server in China, is about 5400¥(chinese dollar), which is 700$ (U.S. dollar).
The second thing is, this phoenix mount is the Christmas present given by a male player to his girlfriend. They are both uber player of the guild they belong to.
The guild they belong to had made the decision before they enter the T5 layer instance, that this mount will be acquire for gold. Those gold will be spend on the guild's further raid for T6 layer.
ok, you guys go on.

The situation in China is a little bit complicated.
At first, real money trade is common in WOW China server, but mainly between player and player. Because at China, WOW is charged by time, which is 4000 minutes / 30 Chinese dollar (4$). Many players don’t have time to farm the gold they need, so they sell the 4000 minutes pointcard for gold.
You know that any lvl70 players can easily farm 100 gold per hour. So there are many players, mainly students or players from the low income area who have enough time to play, will gladly trade their gold for point card.
So you can easily exchange your pointcard to 1000 gold on any Chinese server. Of course, you have to face the risk of it.
This is common in China. It is happening any minute on any China wow server.
Make a calculation, and you find out those gold is really really cheap. So there isn’t many gold farmer at Chinese server. Because you can’t even earn money from it. The trick they use is using hack tool to hack in other players computer and got their account information, take all their gold and sell all items.
Back to your question.
Yes, they brought gold from other players or gold company. But they won’t be banned.
That is why I say that the situation in China is a little bit complicated. The WOW service provider of China can’t stop such kind of thing.
At first, 50%(or even more based on my consideration)players have involved in such real money trade. They can’t ban everyone.
And second this helped those players who have got enough time but less money to enjoy the game.
The third thing is, no one think this corrupt the game.
Here is my opinion, you have to take this whole thing under the strange situation of China WOW. At China, MMOG is an entertainment, but seldom a self challenge. Many Chinese WOW players will pay for this game, pay for the joy they can get from this game. Just like any man will buy a 1000$ diamond ring for their love. But in this game, they buy the Phoenix Mount.
By the way, the player who got this Phoenix Mount is a lucky girl. She is still in university. The one brought her this mount is his boyfriend, who just graduated from university. This young man collect 3 months salary to buy his girlfriend this mount.
So, you can say anything about Chinese or Chinese WOW players, or Chinese WOW service provider, or even my grammar… (-____-)
But please, don’t put dirty words to this young man and his girl friend. Give them your best wishes.
Anyway, here is my email address nors#yeah.net (please change the # to @). If you got any further question on Chinese MMOG, come ask me. I try to answer if possible.

I think it was very sweet for the guy to get his girlfriend the mount, and anyone who has negative comments because the game doesnt work the same everywhere should just keep them to themselves. I have been playing WOW for about a year and didn't even know about the phoenix mount, I am glad the girl got it, and that they are in an awsome guild! Good luck to them on many future WOW conquests and victories! And good luck to her in school and many futre endeavors to them both!

Wow that guy must be playing a long time i know a guy with many 70's but even he dind have that much money!. And still is that mount worth that many gold??? Can u link it i wanna see how cool the mount is.
And about the sick kid with cancer(srry to say the word) I think gaving him a wow acc. and some cool things Don't remove the sickness. Instead of giving him a wow acc give money for research to get the disease away....
And my last comment is if people have spelling don't judge on them they are probley from another country. So am I,I am from holland. So don't judge my spelling either!

If I am correct, Ezra had a terminal illness and/or it was uncurable, so perhaps the best thing Blizzard could do would be to make him happy and give him a chance to finish the game : )
