NASCAR Driver Blames Video Games For Loss

I guess it's a good thing Jack Thompson won't be toiling in the affairs of video games anymore, because this latest news from Kotaku is downright hilarious.

Apparently Nascar driver Carl Edwards decided that, to try and re-take the lead in this Sunday's race, he'd try something he's seen in video games: bounce his car off the wall.  Unfortunately for him it didn't work out as planned, so Jimmy Johnson went on to take the race and the season points lead.

Sure, this might work in Need For Speed or NASCAR 09, but who would actually think to try this in real life?  I guess the heat of the moment really got to him as he was concerned with winning, and wanted it pretty badly.

What will people try next from video games?  Is someone going to put a light feather in their pocket and jump off a cliff, proclaiming they'll gracefully fall to the ground because their Mage can do it in World of Warcraft?  Scary times.

    The title of this article is terrible.

    No where in the information provided in the article does he "blame video games for loss".

    All he says is that he tried something he saw in a game, not that the game was to blame for his loss.

    If he did actually blame video games, then you gotta put that in the article, and if he really didn't, then don't say in the title that he did.

    This article is stupid. I watched the race, i heard him said that. But he said it in a joking matter. Something along these lines: "{laugh} yea, i thought that since you can scrape the wall in a video game and not loose any speed, i might as well try it. {laugh} Didnt seem to work that well. {laugh} It was a great race." It wasnt a serious comment that he made, he was just trying to make others smile.

    Good thing he didn't do what I do when losing a race: start going in the oppostie direction and try to ram the leader.
