Aion CBT Preveiw

1. Graphics

The graphics of Aion is typical of Korean style. Similar to most MMO games, you can see character`s status, skill tab, map radar, etc at the bottom of the screen.

It is odd that the map radar does not show the coordinates of team members. The radar disperses its beam around itself. The player can see the coordinates of monsters, but not the coordinates of other players. We can only search them on the screen. Is it because the design work has not been completed? Or is it to increase the difficulty level of gaming? Another explanation is this testing version is an internal test version in the past. Maybe, it did not take PvP into account at that time. Believe this will be improved in future versions.

2. Combat mode

Now let`s talk about the combat mode in Aion. The game intends to create the fighting effect commonly found in arcade game, so, after you use a basic skill, if there is a similar skill in the skill tab on the screen, the system will prompt to tell you the next combo skill. In this way, it creates the continuity of two skills. However, it is estimated that when more and more skills are released, it will appear more than one prompt. Then, you have to make a decision.

Each spirit has its unique attacking skills, but we couldn`t experience it in the closed beta testing. They only accompany the player and act as shield. Believe there will be more surprises awaiting us in future versions.

3. Class issues

Now let`s talk about the class issues in the game. Is it necessary for the existence of priest? It seems to be unnecessary in the light of closed beta version because every player has recovery potions in his/her inventory. The player can heal himself/herself through using recovery potions. However, the priest has a skill which can detoxify poison. So, in the future when the final version releases, you¡¯d better make some priest friends or create a priest character.

All the classes in the game have a typical MP system, which is different from the design in World of Warcraft.

4. PVP

The PvP system is not available in this testing, but I`ll still try to say something about it. There are two types of PVP in Aion. One is to take PvP challenge in peace area. The skill effects are the same with monster fighting effects.

During PvP battle, players can use "teleport" skills which are not confined by place.

Another type of PvP is competing in cave. Two teams will involve in team battle scrambling for the same Boss. And control becomes a major factor for winning in this type of PvP .

5. Conclusion

The closed beta period is so short that we only have a chance to roughly experience its game systems and combat mode. Generally speaking, the closed beta version is not so satisfactory. There is still much to improve. Maybe that`s because we put too much expectation on Aion. Just like the saying goes, the more hope, the more disappointment.
