I just saw something ! The third rune that appeared is the icon of the Protos from starcraft 2 ! Exactly the same !

Update: Thanks to everyone who messaged me with updates for todays teaser! Sadly, it's my off day so I wasn't up at the crack of dawn to get things down straight away! I've checked out all your points and have to say that you guys are doing a great job with this ^^ Oizumi03 has said that the teaser image looks like a giant hole in the sky at the end of Warcraft III. Perhaps this is something else we should consider? Thanks guys!

All this arguing over if it's WotLK or Diablo 3.....anyone else think it would be really funny if it turned out to be both? ;)

Regarding the speculation about it possibly being the MMO diablo (if such a thing is being made) I find it highly unlikelly that they would announce WotLK and a Diablo MMO at the same time, get everyone to buy WotLK and then announce a Diablo 3 MMO, there's ya money.

Edit: If you look at those eyes for long enough it starts to look very much like some kind of winged creature ;)

By the way...why is it ice? just because the file name says so? could be anything and it's glowing blue because of the star light...probably is ice though ;)

Ok, there's a few major possibilities. For one, with the Lost numbers, in the show they're linked to predicting the day humanity will destroy itself. So that might be a clue to the announcement.

Or, it might be an homage to (or even a rub on) J.J. Abrams, who is famous for viral marketing and creating hype from little-to-no information (anyone who visited the IMDB boards for Cloverfield last July-August can definitely relate to speculation on the tiniest little detail. Thankfully, I haven't seen much of that here lol). Kind of like a "Look, we can get people talking endlessly about a picture of ice too!"

With only a day away from the announcement, I'm getting edgy. My hopes are still with Diablo 3. I don't see a Diablo MMO working with the source material, and I'd much prefer a new single/non-massive multiplayer game. And I'm still sticking with my theory that the theme is Diablo 3: Hell Freezes Over.

Oh, and for the record, the ice hasn't actually opened any further this time. The hole is the exact same size and shape as yesterday, it just doesn't have "steam" blocking the view. The image itself has expanded, however, showing more of the "outskirts" of the ice around the edges.

The mark between the eyes reminds me diablo who i think he had a similar mark hadn't he? Also think about the pentagram the runes create.

This is just a shot in the dark, but for the Lost numbers...maybe its just supposed to point us towards Lost because wasn't one of the symbols for one of the Dharma Initiative stations a hydra? Maybe its just saying that this is project hydra. Thats not saying that this isn't a new Diablo, just that it is definitely their new project.

The more I read about these symbols the more I am becoming convinved that there is a reference to all the franchises/game rights that Blizzard Entertainment own, or have owned.

Lost + Compas - Lost vikings.
New rune - Pax Imperia: Eminent Domain
Pentagram Formed by joining runes - diablo.
Ice - WotLK
Starcraft....unsure here, but it has stars! ;) (Edit: Some say one of the runes is a SC rune)

I still dont know for sure but it has got to be Arthas! look at the shape of the eyes and the helmet part between the eyes! And the death knight uses different runes that are showing up in the screen! I am very excited for whatever this could be though just some info big enough for a splash screen like this going on changing for this long with a WWI coming up to be about WotLC would be uber epic awsome! Come on Blizz give us some!
