Community Watch -- December 13th

The Curse community was packed with great content this week. Don't forget that The Daily Quest is recruiting; they're looking for gamers who can write compelling content and want to speak their mind about the goings on in the industry. If you haven't checked out our blog section yet, be sure to do so -- maybe you'll want to create one too! They're also collecting questions for a big interview with the Stargate Worlds Dev Team, so head over and submit yours!

We were able to launch our EVE Online portal, by the way, so check it out and give us feedback or suggestions on improving it!

Curse Blogs

We'll kick things off on the Curse blogs; there were some great entries over the past week, so head over and take a look.

The Daily Quest has a guest post by Leiandra, posing the question "Why Do You Play WoW?"
Indelible posts his Top 5 Suggested MMOs to try this Christmas and starts a trend in the comments!

trptscott's WoW career is entering a new phase, so head over and check it out!
matticus is looking for suggestions after getting a shiny new epic staff for his Priest. Head over and help him out in "How Should I Enchant My New Staff?"
trptscott heads out to Dustwallow Marsh to experience the new content with a level 42 Undead Warlock.

There were also a few great forum threads this week -- head over to join in on the Blizzard New MMO discussion, share your Top 5 Games for the Holidays, or if you're sick and tired of those gold spammers, learn how to kill them... then again, maybe you like something controversial yet revolutionary?

World of Raids

World of Raids continues to lead the pack when it comes to daily WoW news, and today is no different with news that there will be Premades available on the PTR realms for 2.3.2 as of December 12th.

There are also some forum discussions going on, everything from Bobz looking for a new headset suggestion, a WoR user creating a Gronn/Tauren sculpture, discussion on beating a Mage, Rogue, Priest 3v3 combo, some Wrath of the Lich King predictions, and discussion about why Blizzard should balance around 1v1. Oh and while you're there, don't forget to share your fastest Karazhan run.

Warhammer Alliance

Garthilk put together a great recap of the week's activity over on WHA in the WHA Weekly Roundup. From Josh Drescher's confirmation regarding Blood Priests, to Mark Jacobs dismounting the rumor about mounted combat, to the Community Spotlight, and the Laymans Guide to Warhammer Factions, there was a lot of great content, so be sure to check it out!

WoWInsider

As usual, WoWInsider has some great blog content to check out this week. Head over to take a look at any of the following.

The official WoW website has a few community-related pieces of content so far this week. You can check out the comic contest honorable mentions, download a new wallpaper, check out the 3-Year Anniversary Week two winners, or enjoy some new Fan Art.

Curse Videos

Finally, a video to check out. This one is called Alkasir (FrostMage pvp) 2; it's 25 minutes long but very fun to watch, and great quality for a streaming video. Check it out and be sure to head over to its page by clicking through on the title if you'd like to rate it or comment on it!

World of Raids has had a lot of discussion going on since their 2.3 PTR Screenshots news update. The forums are alive and kicking with activity and excitement about the additions and changes with the patch.

EverQuest

Over on EQPlayers, you'll be able to find the Forum Hodgepodge, as well as Tip of the Week - NPC Journal Window and a new edition of Meet the Community.

EverQuest II

The EQ2Players website has been bustling with community activity over the past week. Community Spotlight - Tashiana and Community Spotlight - Draca were both featured, along with the typical Town Crier and Treasure Chest updates.

There was also a new zone review put up, giving players a chance to review the Enchanted Lands.

Vanguard

VGPlayers has a new preview up of Game Update #3, as well as all-new Player Submitted Screenshots and the latest Keeping up with the Community.

PlanetSide

Head over to PlanetSidePlayers to check out the latest Observation Deck, Community Profiler - NewSith, and Community Uplink. There's also a new Development Uplink where the team talks about future update content.

Star Wars Galaxies

Stop by the SWGPlayers site to check out the latest SWG Fan Art updates, a new Galactic Showcase: The Bantha Lair Cantina, a new Player City Listing update, Player Spotlight - Letoxx, and the Friday Feature: Aurilian Treasures.

Guild Wars

On the Guild Wars website, you can find a new Eye of the North Wallpaper, as well as the latest Guild of the Week, two new State of the Game articles: Splits: Chapter Three and Splits: Chapter Four, and details on the new Mini Mania Contest.

Tabula Rasa

The Tabula Rasa website is rife with community content over the past week. You can check out the Wallpaper Contest, a contest from the MyTabulaRasa.com fansite, and some new Community Forums that have opened up recently.

Pirates of the Burning Sea

The Pirates of the Burning Sea website has a new update on the 2D Flag Design Contest, as well as a thank-you from Aether and a report on the recent stress test by Joe.

Hellgate: London

At Hellgate's official site, you can check out some very enthusiastic fans in Tattoos Gone Wild, along with two updates on some Hellgate Manga news in Manga Update and Manga Update II. Rounding out the Hellgate: London news is talk about some Buddy Icons being made for Hellgate fans.

Dark Age of Camelot

Last week was a busy one at the Camelot Herald. It kicked off with The Scroll of Valor on Monday, and then continued the entire week. Camelot's Six-year Anniversary occured with much celebration both in-game and out. The 2007 Guild Website Contest was also announced, along with the weekly Guild News, and of course, the Friday Grab Bag to cap things off.

Ultima Online

Don't forget to check out the Five on Friday, where Jeremy Dalberg talks about some upcoming features for UO. You can also find out info on the Halloween 2007 Events Testing.

Hero's Journey

While not entirely community news, some of the greatest MMO minds have come from the gaming community. With that in mind, head over to the "Dev Applications Open!" article if you have the talent and knowledge to make it in the game industry.

There's a lot going on in the MMO community this week, so hopefully this special feature will help you track down anything of interest to you. Community Watch will cover not only the Curse community, but also the communities of the official game websites. Let's get started with some of the stuff going on in the Curse community!

Curse Forums

While not an extremely new thread, see if you can beat BigBoyBattle's played time in "Think You Can Beat My Time Played??"
We're going to be continuing our "Recommended AddOns" feature from our Patch 2.2 Portal, so if you'd like to suggest one of your favorite AddOns as something to be added to the list, do it in our forum thread!

Curse Blogs

While it's not an MMO, Gears of War set a new standard for quality in console shooter graphics. With that in mind, I was very excited to hear about it coming to the PC. Head over to "Gears of War coming to the PC!" to read more about it.
Matticus questions the use of DKP in instances like Karazhan in "Loot Management Week: Karazhan".
Meteo provides the monthly Free-to-play MMOs coming in his latest blog entry, "New f2p mmo games coming October 2007".
Indelible talks about the advances in gameplay Tabula Rasa is making with "Tabula Rasa - The Next Big Step".
Tuller gives us a recap of 2.2 and what it did to AddOns, as well as his thoughts on some things happening in the AddOn developer community in "WoW 2.2".

Ever wondered about the PvP in Voyage Century, or wanted tips on battling it out with other pirates within the game? Meteo has a great writeup on just that in "The Art of Sea Battle".

History of Arthas and Illidan

If you haven't played Warcraft III before, then these two videos should help you better understand Arthas and Illidan. Sylvictus has created recaps of what happened to both of them during Warcraft III campaigns. Check them both out over at GameTube: Rise of the Lich King and Rise of Illidan Stormrage.

I'm So Sick

This video is absolutely amazing; Drysc featured it in the Community Spotlight on the official WoW website, and for good reason. I highly encourage anyone reading this to watch the video at least once. From there, you'll probably watch it another two, six, or ten times before all is said and done and you've realized the masterpiece that is "I'm So Sick" by Baron Soosdon.

There are two new features up on the LoTRO website and while they're not entirely community-related, it's always nice to know the background on areas and NPC's in the game. To that end, be sure to check out both Exploring Middle-earth: Tinnudir and Characters of Middle-earth: Barliman Butterbur.
