As a graphic designer I find that quite insulting to be honest, you make it sound like designers have trouble comprehending two things at once. I'd like to think my design skills are equal to my development skills, after all this IS an industry where you have to keep one step ahead.

Right now I'm using this to play Dragon Age and Aion; it's the greatest thing for gamers since the graphics card.

I'd say the real applications aren't necessarily for a replacement for Vent, but for realistic sound tech in games. L4D was mentioned, and this would be a great example.

L4D2 is unveiling a Realism mode wherein you lose the colored outlines that help you locate your teammates (among other things.) This kind of tech would meld perfectly with that kind of gameplay.

This would only work for games like Left 4 Dead. The main reason people use Vent and Teamspeak is to communicate, especially over long distances. I can't sees this doing well at all.
