World of Warcraft

Update: WotLK Release Date Now Officially Confirmed

Earlier today we reported that Wrath of the Lich King would be released the 13th November 2008 and it's since then been confirmed by Blizzard.

In the frozen wastes of the north, the Lich King Arthas Menethil rallies his undead army and schemes to bring an end to all life on Azeroth -- and in a couple of months, you'll begin your epic journey into Northrend to confront the Lich King and his minions yourself. Blizzard Entertainment's second expansion to World of Warcraft -- Wrath of the Lich King -- will be in stores on November 13 in North America, Europe, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Russia, and on November 14 in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia. The expansion will be available in Korea and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau on November 18, and the launch timing for China will be announced at a later date. For more information, read the press release or visit the Wrath of the Lich King website.

Wrath of the Lich King will be available in both a standard edition and a special Collector's Edition (in select areas). The Collector's Edition will contain an art book, behind-the-scenes DVD, exclusive in-game pet, and more. For pictures and a complete list of contents, check out the Collector's Edition website.

Retailers in North America are currently taking pre-orders for the game. Reserve your copy now online!

Of course they release this news now that they realize they underestimated WAR.

It's just like how they released a metric butt-load of beta keys the day before WAR's head start servers were going live.

I don't care what Blizzard's motives are in the release timing. I'm ready for the new expansion to hit already!

I knew this was comming, not surprised in the least. And they did not underestimate WAR, they have been planning this release date since WAR was sure to come on the current release date.

Screw WAR. It's a knock off anyways - korean grind game for all i care.

WotLK is finally here!!! WoW is going to have a point to play again!
    รดรด - - - 6th! (-(-(-(-.-)-)-)-)

The only thing that will kill WoW is your mother's syphilis. Stfu

Where is 2moons, where is Conan, where is Perfect World, etc, etc, etc. You believe an unproven product has competition with Blizzard? I predicted the expansion for Nov. 7th (In January), I must of calculated WAR into my equation!!

I cant find it - will there be an online version released at the same time?
Edit: If you can buy the expansion set online

Er...if Anything Warcraft is a knock off of Warhammer.

at least in terms of the actual universes

However, WAR is also looking like it will take much of Blizzard's PvP fanbase.

Considering this is the part of the base Blizzard has tried to appease for the whole of BC, this is more of a threat to their fanbase than you realize.

And WAR is only just beggining, and it already is competing with a game that has been out 5 years and will have 2 expansions under it's belt.

for them to underestimate WAR would be folly

November 13th puts it a full week before Thanksgiving in the US. That's prime selling period for publishers.

Right before Christmas is too late to get sales, so they have to release before that. The average "holiday season" release is mid November, which is almost exactly what Blizz is doing. They are getting it out in time for it to be purchased before Christmas.
