World of Warcraft

WoW Account Sold for 7,000 Euro (9,700 USD)

Selling and buying accounts is something very common in World of Warcraft, even though it's strictly forbidden by Blizzard. Good geared characters are often sold for a few houndred dollars although a few weeks ago one of the currently best geared rogues available was sold - for 7,000 Euro (~$9,700).

The original owner, a Night Elf Rogue named Zeuzo from the guild Method on Sylvanas(EU) was one of the two only people in the world wielding both legendary swords dropping off Illidan Stormrage, final boss of the Black Temple. He also had 4/5 parts of the tier6 armor set, together with various other drops from Black Temple and Mount Hyjal, which could be considered as the best gear available in the game right now.

The new owner goes under the name Shaks and has moved the character to the Kazzak(EU) realm.

Zeuzo, here's a few tips on what you can buy for 7,000€.

 # A Rolex watch
 # A Car
 # A VTL Pre-Amplifier
 # 250,000 WoW Gold
 # 3 nights in a suite at the Palms in Las Vegas
 # A nice vacation for you and 4 friends in Australia
 # 2 Alienware Area-51 ALX Desktops
 # 209 Steelpad S&S SK Edition

Well, gratz to him now. The character will be banned/deleted because they wrote it here.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've heard tales of peeps selling their accts, then later claiming to Bliz that the accts were stolen, resulting in Bliz restoring them to their original owners. If so, what a windfall for the original owner--a new Rolex!  ;-) Of course, this Curse publicity might make such a claim silly.

wow. thats a lot of money XD.

But anyways, whats the point in buying characters? Half the fun is getting the gear yourself. Sure i dont have more than kara/heroic gear, but part of that is i pass on a lot of items that people need more than i do. I agree with Trayventhor though, how is it worth that much money? Your not accomplishing anything.

that guy most have ALOT of money to spend, i mean he could prolly buy a shitty geared lvl 70 rogue, and throw half the 7k euro after any top notch guild in this game, and they would prolly give gim all the gear that rogue have, even the legendaries to :D

and if hes really lucky, some blizzard fagot read this news and hes banned with in a week cause who ever made this news was clever enough to tell where he moved the char and what hes name is

@OP even if it is illegal, a lot of ppl do it cos they simply want to play another character. pathetic news, this guy will be banned thanks of the sk than curse poster, who cares if he has bought the account or not, i do not. you are like some kids in the class: he has done that an that, buuuh. next time give also his telefon nummer.

Old news, this was all over the official forums 2 weeks ago. If its not banned there is a serious flaw in blizzards work.

Oh and he spec'd it hemo and lost to a average non-pvp geared restro druid to my understanding. Immense eh?

Just to get more money perhaps ?

I am wondering what does actually happen such characters that are banned. I know someone personally that got caught selling his gold and was banned. However I still see all his characters listed in my friends list and all of them still listed in the Armory. I assume that once the characters are banned they are deleted and thusly they would disappear off the friends list and armory.

To be honest, don't care if people sell their account, yes it against the rules, but if they are doing me no harm, who really cares.

What is silly is that he spend that large amount of money on a game character, because he does not have the patient and skill to do it himself.

I'm sure his guild was very very happy.

"Hey guys thanks for all that time and effort and those two legendary weapons off Illidan. I'm going to /gquit now so that I can sell my account for real money.

PS. Once I re-roll can you guys help me level?"

Too bad, every time I start fresh I just give all my stuff away (i.e. disenchant and give away the mats, give the gold to my guildies, random people.) Did so recently on my 64 lock, gave away 200g to start new on another less populated PVP realm. I sort of regret it cause by less populated I mean there are around 6,000 undead rogues and twice that gnome rogues. ^_^

The sad thing about this is that a possibly great player quit the game and now some degenerate no hoper is running around in some of the best gear avaliable yet is still most likely being beaten on damage meters by sum DS3 mage and has by now probly run out of money due to dying constantly and having massive repair costs.

wots his next move? buy gold and pay sum pvp guild to help him look gud?

  • Sun, Sep 16 2007 6:44 PM ()

A poster stated in his opinion it was wrong for the OP to post these facts. I totally disagree. The rogue had the trust of his guild when they awarded they him that gear. He dirtied the waters by selling his account. They have every right to have this posted here. On my realm we get transfers in that are obviously bought accounts, gear does not mean knowledge. Will blizz delete the account? Most likely and what a waste.

selling the time you spent on an account is not illegal, but you have to say its the time spent you're selling, so no he probably didn't get banned.

Well if you have a lot of money I guess 7 grand isnt that much for a game char, I'm guessing that he wants to use it for pvping and getting the two legendary while pvping isnt the easiest feat.
