Gnorog a German Blizzard employee confirmed the latest rumors about patching World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade right after you installed your copy. The WoW: TBC version that is being currently shipped by Blizzard needs to be updated with the current 2.0.3 patch (220MB) as it contains updates that were made after the expansion went gold.

There has been no confirmation if there will be an additional patch file for the expansion itself, or if the 2.0.3 patch will cover everything.

All I can recommend is that you keep your patch files on your hard drive, so you don't have to download them again on release day.
