The Wrath of the Lich King pre-launch event has entered phase 4. What's changed?

New Karazhan Boss - Prince Tenris Mirkblood

Note: Arcanite Ripper has an hidden use effect that morphs you into Bergrisst of L80ETC playing the axe as a guitar. (Screenshot)

Scourge Event Armor Sets

Shadows of Doom and rare zombie spawning close the shards drop anti-undead armor sets. You can buy the gloves and shoulders from the Argent Dawn Quartermaster for 15 Necrotic Runes.

Argent Dawn Quartemaster in Light's Hope Chapel

This NPC sells items in exchange for Necrotic Runes which can be obtained from undead invaders. Also you will need to complete the 10x Necrotic Runes quest "Under the Shadow" first or else you will not see the vendor items.

Well I for one, don't get much pleasure in what is going with the Zombie infestation, but rather than allow it to ruin the game for me, I will be trying a number of things that will hopefully keep me questing, getting exp and of course, gold farming. I tried this morning, with full bags to go to Stormwind - even early in the morning it's not possible - so I won't go. I created an alt that is a Palladin (who I believe will be able to cure himself) and will send him all of the contents of my bags meant for the Auction House. If that doesn't work, I'll just send him the contents of my bags the same way I would for any banker/mule toon that I have. There is no limit to the amount of mails that I can send and they will stay in the mailbox for 30 days before I have any other problems. I also have an alt that is a Night Elf - when I log on today, he will be porting to Moonglade and then to Darnassus. I have another alt that has Ironforge as his home - this is also infested, but if I die there at least the lag isn't quite as bad as it is in Stormwind. Either way, I will have access potentially to 3 different auction houses. But, here's a thing - if you get infected and don't want to pay to get repairs - TAKE YOUR GEAR OFF. Anything you are not wearing won't degrade as you die. I enjoy playing this game too much to let something like this ruin it for me. My .02 cents...

ZOMBIES SUCK!!!! Just another attempt by Blizz to throttle people from leveling and doing dailies (aka making money) until Lich King comes out plain and simple!!!

How come there is a Wraith following me that I can't target???

  • Sun, Oct 26 2008 4:42 PM ()

well i am a lvl 28 and i am having no problem enjoying the new stuff i may not be lvl 70 and be able to alot of those quests but they have earned it all them have gone through the same problems you are facing, it is not new and that is why they are having their day to shine. and when you get to be 70 or soon to be 80 you'll get your chance to enjoy the stuff. in the mean time it is something you will have to deal with(like everyone else has had to) and try and have fun and you will.

If I was a 70, I would probably also defend this whole invasion thing, because for them it is pretty cool. New quests, new challenges, new items, etc... However, I just started playing this game, and my main character is only a 38. Because I am only a 38, I do not get to participate in any of the good parts about this event, yet, because I cannot defend myself, I have to deal with all of the crap of this whole thing. I guess what I am saying is that lowbies like me REALLY are getting the shaft here, because we don't get to do any of the interesting stuff associated with this, and we are also some of the prime targets for the griefers. I love the idea of this event, and that is one of the reasons that I want to be a 70, because I want to participate in this kind of stuff, but right now, it is making the game unbearable.

Anyhoo got off track there...Zombies rule and it is a tempoprary event enjoy it or maybe go do stuff with your family in the real world if your not enjoying it. It will all be over soon enough, wouldn't be cool to say our combined zombie force took out Thrall or some other leader!

Well first off m8 theres those people in every crowd. I for one think there needs to be an instance Q so people from all servers join one pool for instances this would allow those on low pop servers to still get groups. Secondly there is an overwhelming amount of people who are sick of hearing the same questions over and over about certain things due to lazy people who won't take the time to search for their own answers. That being said, I personally try to help out anyone and I always promote the lightheaded and questhelper mods...things I didn't have in 12 years of Everquest or 3 years of wow. Nothing wrong with being new you just need to find the correct guild...playing solo will get you nowhere unless your willing to take the time and come to sites like this. One major problem with the game in it's current state is the BG gear, sure it is great and puts people on the level playing field in some senses but it also creates a whole bunch of lazy people who think they rule because they spent 2 weeks in AV snoring... I love PVP but the way the BG's are set atm half the people in a non premade are all their to see it end as fast as possible for a mark and to move on for the next mark...World PVP is non existant on most servers and that is a shame. More interactive world pvp objectives are needed and with rewards that require far more time to achieve then 3 days grinding. Very hard to balance it all out though :(

@Gynsu666: Points will not be resetting other than Arenas. As soon as you level to 71 all of your points are lost. Honor will still carry over, as will Marks of Honor (which can be turned in for additional honor points in a repeatable quest).

  • Sun, Oct 26 2008 3:05 PM ()

Nah, I just think all you idiots that enjoy this just want new players, like myself to quit, so that way you don't have to bother with them. I know how you jerk offs can be with newer players, "Oh look a new player! NOOB!! "n00b", "nub" is all I hear when I play WHEN I stay away from people and do everything on my own but hey, its the internet, always gonna have a bunch of low life people like that, that don't have consideration for others. Funny I met like 5 people out of what 10 million players that were WILLING to help me. Wow. So Sad.

Honestly folks. There is nothing you can do in game right now aside from Ach's and tradeskill grinding that will do anything for you once the xpac comes out. all your gear will be useless so why grind for gear...rumor is points are resetting so why grind anything...Grab a zombie curse and try to kill a whole city...We have the chance as a collective force to kill the city leaders but noone will take their heads outta their arses long enough to have fun with it.

Well I am on dial up and can't log my main in shattrah due to the overwhelming zombie and corpse presence....BUT I love the Zombie idea just wish they killed it in shattrah the hub of wow and allow it to continue everywhere else. For those of you QQ'ing about it being pvp bleh go play something else or use another toon in another area the whole idea is fun totally. Get off your grinding mentality and enjoy the game... I grouped with like 40 or 50 horde and ally zombie forces took out several cities together until some QQ'ing nubs like you got mad. So some of us took it to out of the way towns and the mains of the QQ'ers follow to try and end your fun so screw you all I hope your cities stay lagged and down the rest of the event.

Game is unplayable on my server right now. No questgivers, no battlemasters, can't use AH, can't get cured, can't land or you get infected. Yes lots of fun (sarcasm). No this is not roleplaying just plain stupid.

  • Sun, Oct 26 2008 2:29 PM ()

the story line is we are being invaded........ y should some people (even npc's) be immune to anything. i just dont get y people think they should be able to opt out of a story line.

  • Sun, Oct 26 2008 2:22 PM ()

In our house we hate this, it absolutely ruins the game and is getting worse. If you need to be in cities, the game is unplayable. We have no interest in objecting to PVP let alone insulting anyone but what happened to having a server or at least a condition that leaves us out of it? Blizzard should prevent players from killing key NPCs [quest givers, bankers, auctioneers, etc] at all times and never force us off the game with goofy dawn of the dead rip-offs. Maybe we should go back to Sacred, Blizzard,

oh and btw sorry for the typos it is game not came and here not her .... you'll figure it out.

  • Sun, Oct 26 2008 1:44 PM ()

umm.... is it just me or are people just focusing on the MMO of mmoRPG. you play a role in a game. (role playing game) y is that a hard of a concept. Every good RPG has things that happen to the players and they must adapt, be patient, overcome, and get stronger. the idea of litch king is that we are being invaded it is part of the games story line not just an arbitrary thing.... it is the build up to a whole new part of the game. Worlds evolve wars happen to people .... some may not like it but well thats war right?? How bout you break from they menoteny of grinding characters and participate then it might actually be fun. Or maybe you would prefer things just be handed to you, and you dont have to earn them. (her have a lvl 55 death knight for free you dont have do anything to earn it or nothing ...bonus we even saved you months of lvling to get to 55) tell me y you think you deserve the right to make such a character without having to go through some crap to get it.) Oh wait but SpringTwilight i am not interested in death knights....... well i say look at all the other stuff they are doing.... what do yu just want a whole part of the world just to poof into existence. i am sorry but RPG server or not this is still a mmoRPG they have a duty to keep the storyline solid. tell me one RPG of any kind that has EVER not tied expansions into the story line....NONE... and if there is one i dont know it because the game evidently sucked sooo..... what do you think is better a game that just makes everything easy as long as you keep your head down and stay out of the way.... or a game that challenges you in different, ever changing ways... even though the zombies are a pain in the @$$ ..... i say kudos blizzard and keep up the good work i need more challenges or the game becomes boring and menotenous...... well i think i will stop there because my hands are starting to cramp up and i will step down from my soap box..... who's turn is it now.......lol keep in mind i am not saying you are wrong i am just saying this is how i feel enjoy the came the best you can.

I guess most of the people complaining haven't been playing very long or have memory problems, this event is basically the same as the event that occurred when the 40 man raid instance naxxramis was released, there was also another world event when AQ40 and AQ20 were released, and another when burning crusades was released. What I'm saying is GET USED TO IT it's not the first time and I doubt it will be the last time there are world events in WoW.

  • Sun, Oct 26 2008 11:47 AM ()

I wonder why those ppl are complaining. Are you so addicted to always doing the same in WoW that every "disturbance" is bringing you down? This is the first time that WoW actual feels like a living RPG and not like the same movie you visit every day over years. I even reactivated my abo only to join this event.

@Ardman - Isn't randomly attacking **** what Zombies do? Even if it can't defend itself? Hell, the fact that it -can't- defend itself makes it more of a Zombie target. Remember, you don't have to run really fast...just faster than the guy next to you. BRAAAAINS! (My obligatory "**** you" to the people who don't like once a year things.)
